Why Are You Doing Pick Pocket, Old Man Na?

A 48-Year-Old Man Arrested on a charge of pickpocketing in Adamawa State has confessed to the act.

The Man, Abubakar Suleiman of Mararraban-Mubi in Hong Local Government Area, said he operated mostly in Uba, Mararraban-Mubi and Michika in the northern part of the state, as well as in Jimeta, in the metropolitan Yola North LGA.

Arrested by the police while he was allegedly in the process of stealing money from a co-passenger in Keke NAPEP along the Bank Road axis of Jimeta, the suspect said he usually made false calls while on board Keke NAPEP to distract the attention of fellow passengers, thereby gaining the opportunity to execute his plan.

Suleiman, who said he is better known as a provision seller, added that he has been in the act of pickpocketing for over two years.

He is currently being held by the police, to whom he made his confessions.

The Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who confirmed the development, urged people boarding Keke NAPEP anywhere in the state to be wary of fellow passengers.

DAILY POST reports that in Adamawa State, where Keke NAPEP is the main mode of intracity commercial transport, the vehicle is used by many criminal elements to perpetrate crime.

It is the common modus operandi of young criminal elements called Shila Boys, who operate as riders and steal handsets and cash from passengers either by trick or intimidation using light weapons.

Oh My God, What Is Happening Inside Kwara

Gunmen Suspected To Be Cult Members Of The Eiye Confraternity, On Thursday night shot dead the manager of a hotel in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

The deceased who was identified as Anthony Balogun was the one running the hotel owned by his mother before the unfortunate incident.

The sad incident occurred at about 8 pm on the ill-fated night inside the premises of the hotel located in Olunlade area of the Ilorin metropolis.

DAILY POST learnt that two gunmen allegedly entered the hotel and requested to see the manager.

The deceased, who thought that they were prospective customers, came out of his room to meet them at the reception.

The assailants reportedly called him out of the reception and shot him at close range on the chest, according to sources.

They were said to have macheted him on the head, hands and legs after some gunshots.

Kwara State Police Commissioner, Victor Olaiya, who confirmed the development, said it was the outcome of the 8/8 cultists activities after the 7/7 celebration of another confraternity known as Aiye.

Responding to questions from journalists in Ilorin on Friday at the police command headquarters, the commissioner who described the case as a fresh one after the efforts of the police to mitigate the fallout of the nationwide hunger protests in the state, assured that the culprits would be hunted and brought to justice.

The case was reported at the Ganmo Divisional Police Station, close to Ilorin, while the body of the deceased was deposited at the Kwara State General Hospital, upgraded as the Kwara state University Teaching Hospital, Ilorin.

You Will Not Die, In Road Accident, Say AMEN!

At least four persons have been reported dead and one injured in a multiple road crash that occurred around Kara Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The crash, which happened at about 7:35 p.m. on Thursday, involved an Isuzu mini truck with registration number T1079L, a Toyota Camry with registration number EPE200GK, a Honda Accord, and a BUA trailer with no registration number.

Confirming the incident to DAILY POST on Friday, the spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun Sector Command, Florence Okpe, said the total number of people involved was yet to be ascertained.

Okpe attributed the cause of the crash to brake failure, which led to a loss of control and caused the vehicle to ram into a car from behind while in motion.

She stated, “The crash occurred at about 19:35 hours around Kara Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, involving four vehicles. The number of people involved has not yet been ascertained, but one person (a male adult) was injured, while four persons (one male adult and three female adults) were reported dead in the multiple crashes.”

Okpe disclosed that the injured victim was taken to AZ Zonecare Hospital, Magboro. The body of one of the deceased was deposited at Real Divine Hospital morgue in Ibafo, while the other three bodies were taken away by their families.

Sector Commander Akinwumi Fasakin expressed sympathy to the families of the deceased and cautioned motorists to avoid speeding, pay more attention to vehicle routine checks, and correct defects.
