“Safiyanu Dalhatu is accused of attacking Salma Abdullahi with a heavy pestle, resulting in fractures to both of her hands as well as other bodily injuries.”
Wakil noted that upon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer, Abdullahi Muazu, led a team of detectives to the scene and transported the victim to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, Bauchi for medical attention, where a medical professional confirmed her death.

Sokoto State’s renowned Kara Market, known for its grain and edible goods, was engulfed in a devastating fire.
The blaze rapidly consumed the entire market, reducing numerous grain stores and shops to ashes.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined.
Despite efforts by the state fire service, the intensity of the flames hindered containment.
Shop owners and nearby residents scrambled to evacuate their belongings, fearing the fire could spread further.
This incident marks the second fire outbreak at Kara Market in recent weeks. Previously, the grinding section was destroyed by fire, prompting the state government to pledge support for the affected traders.
The Sokoto State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has commenced preliminary assessments to determine the financial impact of the disaster and mobilize support for the affected traders. Source: https://dailypost.ng/2025/03/01/sokoto-fire-burns-shops-grains-to-ashes/

No fewer than 12 persons have been reportedly burnt to death in an accident that occurred along the Benin-Auchi road.
DAILY POST reports that the accident happened on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at about 5am at Igueoviobo community close to the army checkpoint on the road.
The Edo Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Cyril Mathew, who confirmed the accident, said it involved a Toyota Hiace bus and a truck.
According to him, the bus took off from Zuba, Federal Capital Territory heading towards Benin but collided with a truck heading towards Auchi, killing the whole occupants of the bus.
“It happened on Saturday morning, there must have been fatigue from the driver coming from Abuja and the driver may have slept off and in the process had a collision with the truck.
“They were burnt and we were able to contact the deceased relations because we were able to get the vehicle manifest,” he said.
Mathew said the occupants of the truck, the driver and his motor boy escaped unhurt.
He, however, advised drivers that whenever they experience fatigue on the road they should stop and relax for some minutes before continuing the journey. Source: https://dailypost.ng/2025/03/01/12-persons-burnt-to-death-in-accident-along-auchi-benin-road-in-edo/
