Barely 48 hours after 16 people were burnt to death in an accident along the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway, at least three people have died while 14 others sustained varying degrees of injuries in a multi-vehicle collision along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

PUNCH Metro learnt in a traffic update by the Commandant General of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Seni Ogunyemi, that the accident occurred late Wednesday night at the Ogere axis of the expressway.

Ogunyemi noted that the accident, which involved six vehicles and 23 occupants, occurred when one of the vehicles fell on its side while turning and spilling its contents on the road.

The TRACE CG noted that five other vehicles that were unaware of what had occurred ahead, rammed into the falling truck due to speeding.

He wrote, “A fatal RTA/RTC occurred at Mile 12 outbound Ogere along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway at about 2035hrs.

“According to an eyewitness account, the white Benz truck had a lone accident when making a turn, and the contents (empty plastic) split on the road. Other accident vehicles started running into the white Benz truck due to high speed.”

“23 people were involved. Three male adults died, and 14 people comprising 11 males and three females were injured.”

He identified the vehicles involved as one unregistered ash colour DAF tanker, one white Mazda bus with number plate LSD72YK, and one white Benz truck with number plate KRD 787 XD.

Others are a white Nissan bus with number plate KTU594YG, a green unregistered DAF truck, and a white Toyota Venza with number plate ABJ 675 DR.

He noted that the injured victims were rescued at the PATMAG Hospital located in Ogere while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the FOS morgue in the Isara REmo area of the state.

“The injured victims were rescued to PATMAG hospital, trailer park, Ogere for treatment by FRSC while the presumed dead bodies have been deposited at FOS morgue, Isara, by FOS ambulance and PATMAG morgue, Sagamu,” Ogunyemi concluded.

A 36-Year-Old housewife named Josephine Isaac has been reported dead after her husband allegedly stabbed her in the neck and chest during an argument in Ogun State.

The incident occurred at about 1 a.m. on Thursday in the Agbure Community, Ogun Waterside area of the state.

The suspect, simply identified as Oju, was said to have stabbed his wife multiple times with a knife when the argument escalated into physical violence.

Realizing the severity of her injuries, he fled the scene, abandoning his wife in a pool of blood.

The victim was immediately rushed to Ibiade General Hospital by concerned individuals, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, told DAILY POST that the incident was reported to the Abigi Divisional Command by the victim’s younger sister, Isaac Blessing.

She said, “On March 6, 2025, at about 9:30 a.m., the Abigi Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress report from the victim’s younger sister, Isaac Blessing.

“She narrated that at about 1 a.m., Josephine had a misunderstanding with her husband, identified as Oju (full name yet to be confirmed), who is of Calabar origin.

“The altercation escalated into physical violence, during which the suspect allegedly stabbed his wife multiple times in the neck and chest with a knife.”

According to Odutola, upon receiving the report, detectives of the command swiftly visited the scene of the crime to gather evidence and have launched a manhunt for the fleeing husband.

She noted that the corpse has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy, and preliminary investigations are ongoing.

“The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Abeokuta, for further investigation.

“Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the suspect and assures the public that no effort will be spared in bringing him to justice.

“We appeal to anyone with useful information about the suspect’s whereabouts to report to the nearest police station or contact the command’s emergency lines,” Odutola added.

However, the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, strongly condemned the act of domestic violence, urging couples to seek peaceful means of resolving disputes rather than resorting to violence.

Ogunlowo also encouraged victims of domestic abuse to speak up and seek timely intervention from law enforcement agencies and relevant support groups.

Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the death of an 80-Year-Old Trader, Identified As Ladan Bature, who was fatally stabbed during an argument at the Kara Cattle Market, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The Police Spokesperson, Omolola Odutola said the deceased was stabbed with a knife in front of the Kara Market mosque by one Haiye Aginni on Monday.

Odutola noted that despite efforts by residents and traders to rush him to the hospital, Bature succumbed to the injury.

Following the report to the Ojodu Abiodun Police Division, detectives swiftly took action and arrested the suspect.

She noted that the corpse was deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital morgue in Sagamu for preservation and autopsy.
