I don't have a ready name for you because I have been doing my SEO by myself. I have not learn enough to handle Nairaland for you  so I can't help.

However, I have learnt enough to understand how critical SEO is to your current traffic. Often when making research online, I see Nairaland occupying one of the first 10 positions when Nigeria is mentioned. That may give you idea of why I am so particular about SEO.

The current homepage does a good work showcasing the keywords associated with Nairaland. Anything that will do a better job will be ok.

On a second thought, I suggest you contact your friend Kayode Muyibi. He may be able to recommend someone who will do a good job.

You did well making this post in the first place. I am optimistic that you will get an excellent result at the end of the day.

I for one don't like the new template, but then that is not the main issue.

I strongly suggest that you get a website designer who knows his stuff to make a new one for you. In case you have forgotten, Google is the best advertiser that NAIRALAND has. I was introduced to the forum by Google when I was searching for information about JAMB.

Simply put, your homepage will have effect on your Ranking in the search engines. That to you is a very critical factor that cannot be messed with.

To make my point clearer, ask yourself this simple question "Why do people visit Nairaland?" [/b]Definitely, your answer will be far from [b]"Because it is a beautiful website with a lot of eye candy graphics"

If people come to Nairaland because they need information, then, you will be worse off if you concentrate on making the website BEAUTIFUL, thereby unwittingly making it less VISIBLE to the search engine robots. Google Bots, Yahoo Bots, MSN Bots and other spiders don't care about your graphics. They actually ignore such!

Google homepage lacks eye candy graphics, yet it is about the most visited website online! Have you wondered why they keep it simple!

Secondly, Nairaland as it is presently loads fast because it lacks heavy graphics. Remember that some of your community members are still stuck with dial-up internet connections. They won't find it funny if the pages that usually loads within 1 minutes start taking 5 minutes because of graphics!

My Conclusion
Get an SEO expert to design a new homepage for Nairaland if you desire a change. But please, don't give the job to someone that does not understand what [b]S[/b]earch [b]E[/b]ngine [b]O[/b]ptimization is all about.

With all due respect (I don't mean to discount the hard work of the Graphic Designer that produce the template you posted), the template posted by you does not do justice to the keywords that brings tons of traffic to Nairaland.

This is my humble opinion. I gave it because you asked ;-)

Thanks for your generous complement. I'm still learning how the online business world works, but then, I believe I can be of help to any Nigerian that is serious about starting a business online. The only issue I can't cope with is those that believe that[i] Rome was built in one day by the genie from Aladdin's lamp[/i]. Such can't make it online.

To me it is a great job you're doing over there at Nairalist. The only thing I can criticize about the site is the fact that it is not as organized as one will desire. But since it is still in beta state, I guess it will simply get better. Keep up the good work. Cheers.

I almost forgot, I love the way it integrates seamlessly with Nairaland, but I don't like the confusion the integration causes in the Home page of Nairaland. Oftentimes, one clicks a topic that looks so promising and end up with a classified ads. Well, that is just my personal observation.

Well I don't get your argument! Whatever solutions that were already proffered are either no solution or wrongly implemented. So, literally we are back to the drawing board.

Dr. Akinyuli thinks re-branding Nigeria will do the trick so she gave a slogan "Nigeria: Good People, Great Nation"

Me think the slogan is incomplete, "Nigeria: Good Leaders, Great Nation" must be included.

Anyway, it is my personal opinion. You are free to call it stupid or whatever.

I expect you to contribute solution, not questions! Everyone have an idea of the problem on ground. So, you will only shine if you suggest solutions

It is a shame that our leaders speaks about things they don't understand with so much confidence. When events eventually prove them wrong, instead of admitting they made a mistake, they attempt to explain it away as if they are addressing toddlers.

Even someone that did not go to school will understand that if all the big brother nations that Nigeria is tied to are having financial problem, it is simply a matter of time before Nigeria will feel the impact.

CBN should desist from trying to save the Naira. Let market forces play their natural role out. Effort should be concentrated on getting Nigerians into productive activities. If we start investing in Agriculture for example so that we can feed ourselves instead of importing food, then our economy will become stronger.

This is no time for academic theories and hypothesis. Every foolish forecast will soon manifest as such.

Nigeria re-branded! Good, but what about re-branding our leaders. A healthy body with a bad head is no good. I propose that our leaders should be re-branded. So the new slogan should be , Good People, Great Nation, Good leaders, Great Nation!

The oil is yet to be drilled and yet members in this house "Nairaland" are already quarrelling with each other. May God deliver us.

Someone should check out what is happening in Port Harcourt. The announcement of decrease in fuel pump price has grounded the city.
Commuters trek to and fro for long distance. I very much doubt if the decrease has any benefit for the commoners.

Naira will start appreciating when we are empowered to produce things we can export to earn foreign income. Relying solely on crude oil sale is what has landed us in our present position. Somebody should do something about the energy crises.

I wish that Power Holding Company of Nigeria will be scrapped and replaced by private companies who will be efficient. Even though GSM tarriff is high, it is far better than the days of NITEL.

Give us ELECTRICITY, then we can salvage the value of Naira via production. As long as factories are being shut down and manufacturers are relocating to more conducive countries, Nigeria will be the worse off.

I hope our leaders will act on this warning. Even if President Obama did not look for alternative energy for his beloved country, we ought to know that the oil deposit is not forever, it will surely get finished one day. Let's go back to Agriculture, it is a better foreign income earner.

He is definitely not the richest in Africa.
