WebmastersHow To Report A High Ranking Blog That Stole Your Content by NaijaTechGuy(op): 6:48am On Jan 15, 2017
DMCA Report is a feature for webmasters and bloggers who are being outranked by their own content.

Many people have complained of top sites like NaijaLoaded stealing their content and its a frustrating situation to be in when some other sites use your own content as their own and even get higher rank on Google search than your website.

Picture this, you create a new post , publish it in your website, then someone just comes along, grabs your content, and posts it on their site.

Many times I've been tempted to file a DMCA report against some websites who refuse to link back to my blog as the source for the content they allegedly stole but I just leave it because most of them are blogs that I rank higher than.

The website where the content originated should be awarded with a higher search rank. However these sites have their own ways to outsmart netizens .

The worst thing that can happen is that the original publisher’s blog gets buried down the search engine return page.

Bloggers who have any complaint against a website that outranks them can now ask Google’s help to correct the situation. The scraper report will require you to fill in some specific information.

Here's how:

1. Go to the form: (link at the end of the post)
2. Enter the exact URL of the original content (your site's page)
3. Add the exact URL of the scraped content (the stealer's page)
4. Add the Google search result URL that demonstrate the problem.
Before submitting your form, you must be aware of Google's terms of service so if any legal issues may arise, Google can properly handle the problem. After submitting, Relax and watch Google do its work.

WhatsApp just introduced a new feature but it's still in beta : GIF search. It allows you search for and add GIFs without leaving the messaging platform. WhatsApp added support for GIFs some of months ago, although it was limited to sharing GIFS stored on your phone. The new update makes it easier to search through Giphy's extensive library and add GIFs directly from within WhatsApp's interface. The update also increases the media sharing limit from 10 to 30.

You can access the GIF search by selecting the emoji button to the left of the text box. Once you're in the emoji selection window, you'll see an option to toggle between emoji and GIFs. The other tab shows you a list of popular GIFs, and there's also an option to search through Giphy if you have a particular keyword in mind.
The ability to search GIFs is now live in version (1.27.7).

PhonesFacebook To Roll Out Live Audio Feature In The Next Coming Weeks by NaijaTechGuy(op): 6:43am On Jan 14, 2017
It's possible that one certain time in your life, you've been so angry about something that you just want to yell for the whole world to feel your wrath but when you log on to Facebook and want to go live, the look on your face sends you back to your world of misery. It might not really be the look on your face, it might be when you remember the cost of data you're about to misuse. I can totally relate.

If you've ever been like that, Facebook just fixed this problem for you. Last month , the company introduced the Live Audio Feature. In a blog post, Facebook explained that after seeing Pages find a myriad of “creative ways to go live and reach audiences with audio only” it decided to roll out an audio-only feature for Facebook Live.

Furthermore, the company explained that “Live Audio presents another option for connecting with audiences in real time from low-connectivity areas.”
Every day it becomes easier and easier to shout into the endless hollow chamber of social media. With Live Audio, you no longer even have to show your face. Your hollow eyes, full of grief can remain safe, hidden, distinctly yours.

But you’ll have to wait. Facebook will begin testing Live Audio in the coming weeks, partnering with BBC World Service, Harper Collins, and several others. The feature will be available to other publishers and users in early 2017.

WebmastersHow To Improve Your Blog's Alexa Rank by NaijaTechGuy(op): 6:33am On Jan 14, 2017
When I started blogging back in 2014, I  had no idea of what Alexa rank was and how to improve it.

As time went on , I kept learning different aspects of Blogging and understood how Alexa works.

It was very difficult to get a good Alexa rank for my blog, but as my Blogging experience kept improving, my Alexa rank also improved.

What is an Alexa Rank?

Alexa ranks website based on the amount of traffic they get. Having a good Alexa rank does not help you directly in any way, but still it has its own benefits.

If you deal with several advertisers/ product owners then an Alexa rank is very important for you.
Blogs with impressive Alexa rank attracts advertisers to spend money on your site to feature their service/product.

So, having a good Alexa rank helps bloggers to make decent money from direct advertisements.

How To Improve Your Alexa Ranking?

1. Claim your site on Alexa – Sign up for an account on Alexa.com and submit your site there. This is the very first step to improve your Blog's Alexa ranking.

2. Add Alexa widget to your blog – The Alexa widget helps Alexa servers to track the traffic better. Adding one on your blog will make you see a significant improvement in your rankings. It may not work overnight but something is definitely better than nothing.

3. Write shareable Content – The more unique content you’ll write for your blog readers, then you'll get more traffic and backlinks . People will  likely share your content across their social accounts and it will help you in improving your Alexa rank fast.

4 Keep updating your blog with useful content and increase your returning visitors count –

Trust me, returning visitors really help a lot to boost blog’s ranking. They tend to share your content several times on their various social network profiles.

Give some time to improving your blog’s Alexa ranking as it is important if you are a serious blogger and want to generate money from direct advertisements.

If you liked this article, then kindly share it.

"Traffic". The very word that defines whether your blog will be successful or be an inconsequential failure. I officially started blogging at 17, and I must say that the first year was really tough especially in the terms of traffic.

At first I normally got about 8,000 views monthly, I felt satisfied but I decided to move out of my comfort zone and push myself so hard to get extra traffic and build a strong reputation.

I can easily relate to the feeling when you post and you don't get enough views and you feel like you're not doing enough. I've made a post previously on how bloggers can get extra traffic on their blogs but this time I'll be highlighting the types of content that'll get your posts a very good traffic boost.

Basically, if you are trying to increase your traffic, it all depends on the content you are publishing on your blog. If you don’t have good articles as your foundation, then building high-quality backlinks and getting high traffic won’t last for long.

But if you have very educative and informative articles published on your blog, you will certainly get high traffic for a long, long time without putting in so much effort.

These types of content will relatively help you increase the traffic of any site or blog, provided that you make the best posts .

1. List Posts

This type of content attracts lots of visitors each month. These kind of posts can be of any type – Top facts , Recommended Ways , etc. but if the topic is quite interesting, you should see an increase in your traffic in a few days. List posts always get shared a lot on social media sites and are linked back a lot so you will get social and referral traffic as well as a lot of backlinks.

2. Resource Posts

Resource posts bring traffic and backlinks from different sources.

When publishing resource posts keep in mind that any site or product you mention in the post should be working. It would be better if you personally check all those products and sites and see if they are working before adding to the post.

Though it will surely take some extra time but it will be definitely worth it when people appreciate your efforts.

3. Tutorials and How-to Guides

Tutorials and how-to posts can increase your traffic considerably.
You have to search for problems that a lot of people are facing and put yourself in that situation and apply some solutions to solve the problem. When you are writing a post on “ how to take backup of your blog ”, you have to actually take a backup and show it to your readers using images and screenshots.

If your readers are facing any problems then you will be able to solve them immediately because you too have performed the same thing and you know which problems will come up and which ones won’t.

So if you are good at solving problems, then writing tutorials on your blog will attract a lot of visitors.

4. Interviews & Stories

Another way to increase traffic to your blog currently is by conducting interviews of experts.
I've done quite a number of interviews on my blog and it gets a lot of views.

The reason for this is simple – I get new visitors . But when you choose a topic , like say link building tactics , and you bring in 50-60 top SEO experts to share their views on it and their personal link building strategies then you will see a huge surge in traffic, social shares and an increase in your own followers.

5.Videos
Videos are amazing and many people love videos! If given a chance to read a 1000-word long post and watching a 4-minute video explaining everything that you mentioned in the post, people will most likely choose to go with the video.

YouTube and Vimeo get massive traffic and the chances are high that your videos will also receive amazing views and in return send traffic to your blog.

I would really love to know your views about the post and also your experiences and results. Happy Blogging!

PhonesFacebook To Start Paying Users For Uploaded Videos Soon by NaijaTechGuy(op): 6:37am On Jan 11, 2017
Facebook is going to start paying you for all those videos you upload on Facebook soon but don't get too excited as there's a twist in this tale. A very painful and annoying one. If you're willing to compromise or probably loose your fans for some extra cash then you shouldn't have a problem.

Remember those pre-roll ads on YouTube that usually start before the video you want to view and can only be skipped after 5 seconds?

I've got good news for you then, Mark Zuckerberg also hates them.

The bad news? Well, Facebook is planning to introduce another type of advertising that might prove to be very annoying.

I'm talking about mid-roll ads. These ads are coming to Facebook videos, and they will interrupt what you're watching to display an ad.

The mid-roll ads will be shown after you've watched a video for just 20 seconds. Thankfully it'll be will only be available for videos that are at least up to 2 minutes long, but they still have the potential to make people stop watching Facebook videos after the initial 20 seconds.

Currently, Mid-roll ads have already been tested for live videos, but the new rollout will now include all videos on Facebook. Facebook will be sharing ad revenue with the content creators, keeping 45% of all sales for itself - just like YouTube does.
For now, this still in the testing phase, but if it proves successful then expect most videos you see on Facebook to become ad-infested pretty soon.

I think it should have an opt in option due to privacy issues on Facebook. Facebook would not want to infringe on user privacy by adding ads without permission from users.

This is the first chance many publishers will have at monetizing their Facebook videos. Facebook users are already watching 100 million hours of video per day, so this will also bag the social network some nice amounts of cash.

I decided to write this to encourage all the discouraged bloggers out there. Don't give up till you get to the top.

I know it's possible that you no longer think of blogging the way you used to when you started.
Instead, you now believe that blogging is a bed of thorns and you want to quit blogging.

I've got some questions for you though?

My questions:

1. What's making you think so miserably ?
2. Why are you feeling so disappointed about something that gave you so much excitement?
3. Is blogging as boring as a career?

Certainly Not!!

All you have to do is to to re-invent your own game.

Here are four of the common things about blogging that worry you and solutions to keep you going

1) There are already lots of bloggers

How do you stand out and make a name  for yourself amidst so many other established bloggers?

Imagine if your favorite football team thought “Geez, there are many teams already. We can’t compete with the established teams . Let's just give up on the idea.”

You would have never got your favorite team .

Trust me, you have a great potential and you can surely be the next blogging superstar.

2) Blogging Is Difficult

Blogging definitely needs a lot of patience and will power. It’s very difficult to stand out in a crowded place.

Apparently, you may need to work harder for the first few months. You may have to post regularly and trust me you are doing a great job as your post might just make someone smile and solve their problem.

Your hard work will pay off when people start recognizing your work and become your fan.

3) I don't have any followers:

Nobody's following you? Ask yourself this question:

Have you done any exceptional thing  to make people follow you?

If you were your reader, is there any reason why would you follow your blog?.

In order to get followers you need to produce interesting content. You need to work with others and create a name for yourself. And the best way to do that is to blog .Blog as if it's the last profession in the world. Write classic content and try to solve your readers’ problems.

When your readers will start noticing your work they will definitely try to follow you.So don’t make followers your first priority.
.
4. I can't expand my blog to a profitable business

The average time it takes a blogger to get popular or make a name in the blogosphere is usually between 3-5 years. NaijaLoaded started in 2009 and gained popularity around 2012, Linda Ikeji started in 2006 and gained popularity around 2010. You have to be consistent and exercise patience.

Blogging is a full-time job for many people
Many professional bloggers are living life lavishly through blogging and are also a source of earning for other bloggers.

They hire content writers, moderators, editors, graphic designers, web designers and so on to enhance their blogging experience. This way they also help these people earn a living.
In the same way, you too can live life with your conditions and also be a source of earning for others.

Blogging gives you all the opportunities to grow.
If you think money is a strong motivator for your growth, just work towards making money from your blog.

Sign up to an affiliate program like Jumia Affiliate  Or apply for AdSense or any other ad networks.

Once you've build your blog, you can get sponsored posts that pay you for writing reviews for products.

Blogging is far more interesting than the easiest job.
You only have to be patient.
What are your secrets to getting motivated? DO write in the comments section.

Webmasters4 Common Mistakes People Often Make When They Start Blogging by NaijaTechGuy(op): 6:32am On Jan 10, 2017
When I started my first blog in 2013, I made a lot of mistakes which helped me become better at what I'm doing. I'll outline the most common mistakes people make when starting a blog.

1. Not Submitting A Sitemap.

This is very common among new bloggers. A Sitemap helps search engines index your site properly. The result of not adding this causes poor SEO. Submitting a sitemap was the very first thing I did when launched my current blog NaijaTechGuy. As a result, it's helped in the SEO of my blog and most of my traffic come from search engines. I get roughly about  25,000 visits per week from Google.

2. Sharing Posts By Themselves

Sharing your posts by yourself is cool but when you start posting constantly it'll definitely weigh you down. Most New Bloggers tend to do this. The best way i recommend is to use services like IFTTT, Hootsuite, Postcron or Dlvr.

With IFTTT my posts are automatically shared to Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, Reddit and other sites as well. Hootsuite and Postcron can help you post in Facebook groups

3. Searching For New Content

This isn't limited to new bloggers. Constantly searching different sites to get what you'll post will get you tired of posting in a short time as you've wasted important time on searching for content. Always use an rss feed reader to curate content. Once the other sites post, you get the update on your phone or computer. It's that simple.

4. Not Choosing A Niche

Some new bloggers don't know anything about choosing a niche. They'll simply rush into entertainment blogging and blog about every thing they come across.  My friend, you're not a newspaper. Get a niche and make yourself a force to reckon with on that niche. Posting about everything simply makes you this -  Jack of all trades but master of none.

I drop my pen at this point.

Webmasters8 Common Reasons Why Most New Bloggers Quit Blogging by NaijaTechGuy(op): 6:25am On Jan 09, 2017
Recently, I've been getting quite a lot of emails from people seeking clarification about issues in blogging and how to start a blog.

I decided to make this post so you don't end up quitting on the long run. Blogging is a tough but fruitful journey and only the tough ones last on the blogosphere.

Here are 8 common reasons why people quit blogging :

Not Knowing Anything About Blogging

If you want to start blogging then the very first thing you should do is to study the system. Most bloggers start  blogging without any  knowledge of how the system works and  end up doing nothing.

Always make proper research before starting blogging. It will be a stepping stone to  your success.

Find what interests you and start a blog about it.

Insufficient Time

When you will ask any blogger who failed why he left blogging, he'll probably say " I didn’t have enough time to work on the  blog" .

A number of people start blogging with lots of enthusiasm and then end up quitting it because of lack of time.
.
Try to manage your time properly.

I put a whole lot of time to work on my blog.

Giving up Quickly

So many times, I've wanted to give up blogging but when I remember all the work I've put in, I simply refuse to quit and let all I've worked for go down the drain.
The secret to success is – Never ever quit .

Most new bloggers get tired within the first 1 one month that they finally come to the point that they decide to quit.

After a proper analysis, I discovered that most newbie bloggers quit during the first 3 months.

No Proper Writing Skills

I've seen a lot of blogs created by new bloggers and most times when they try to create unique content, they end up creating a catastrophe ; a post full of blunders and grammatical errors.

Blogging is about learning  and putting it in your own words. Bloggers write articles daily but often forget to pay attention to their writing skills. So lack of writing skill is one of the big obstacles.

Not Having A Proper Plan

I normally make plans on what to do next for my blog and constantly planning strategies on how to make the blog get to where I want it to.

Most new bloggers don’t know about the concept of making plans and how to execute them with proper time and resource management. Blogging is like a business, if you fail to plan, you're planning to fail.

Lack of Promotion

Promotion is a continuous process and you shouldn't stop till you get some good loyal readers.

Finding the best ways to promote a niche is a tough job. When they can't discover any means to promote their blogs, they just quit.

Not Being Persistent and Consistent

Every thing you do in life needs persistence and consistency.

In the first few days of starting a blog, people keep writing posts with full enthusiasm and atleast 5-10 articles a week ( I wrote up to 10 on my news blog ). Along the way, they feel that they aren't getting enough traffic and earning for their blog and then simply quit

Not Making Money

When I started blogging, I ran a news blog for about 3 months without earning anything but I continued. I didn't quit because I just wanted to make a name for myself in the blogosphere. On the long run, the news blog failed because it was really giving me stress. I made 800 posts on the news blog and got a total page view of 150,000. I was frustrated. When I compared NaijaTechGuy to the other blog, it's a huge difference. I've had over 1 million page views on my blog with the same number of posts I had on the news blog.

This is one of the biggest reasons why people just quit blogging after some time.I always tell people -  if you start a blog with the mindset that you're just going to make huge money in a short space of time, then blogging is certainly not for you. Unless you want to invest massively in advertising and get enough returns.

Making money online is not easy and it is one of the things that motivate people to continue blogging.

When people don’t make money for first 3-4 months then they think just think about quitting blogging.

Summary
Start doing some things that'll to take your blog to the next level, soon you will start reaping the fruits.  Be creative- find what is not in place in other blogs, add it to yours and run it with your own style.

Don’t feel like quitting. Give your best on your blog.

I drop my pen at this point.
