Follow these tips to maintain car wheels in Nigeria!

Here are our 4 tips to maintain car wheels in Nigeria:

1. Don’t overspeed always

To keep your car and its wheels in good shape, try to avoid over speeding unnecessarily.

Over Speeding is not only bad for your wheels but also risky for your life

Just as we have earlier described the wheels as the “bones” of your car’s legs (tires), you should avoid using it carelessly by speeding too much and braking abruptly when you hit a bump or pothole on the road. Doing this will not only affect your wheel but can also put your life in danger.

2. Avoid overloading your car

This is very common with Nigerian drivers, they often confuse a passenger-suited commuting car for a van. Every vehicle has been made for specific purposes, they are not all multipurpose like we do treat them.

Don't know why people can load this amount on car!

Whatever heavy load that is above your car’s weight limit, do not force your car to carry it. You should know now that when you overload your car, it is not only the tires that suffer the effect but also the wheels of such car share the pain. Try as much as possible to avoid over-stressing your wheels.

3. Wash your car at least once every 2 days

After riding the car for more than two days, we recommend that you get it washed in its entirety. Washing your car regularly will help you get rid of dirt clumps that normally form and stick on the wheels which can cause early rusting to such wheels.

Washing your wheel regularly will help avoid sticky dirt that can cause early rust

There is currently no vehicle or wheels that are equipped with self-cleaning capabilities yet. So, wash your car by yourself or take it to a nearby car-wash shop and get it a decent thorough cleanup once every two days.

4. Avoid washing the wheels while it's hot

Let us spell it out clearly again; Do not wash the wheels of your car when it is hot.

Even though alloy wheels are the new wave flooding the auto parts market in Nigeria today, many people are not aware that these wheels are not heat-friendly at all.

Whether you are the one to wash the car or you drove to a car wash shop, try to let the car itself cool down for a while before cold water mixed with detergent is being poured on the car. Washing the wheels with this liquid mixture when it’s hot is very bad and unsafe for it.

Price of Lexus RX 300 in Nigeria - Why you need to say a big YES!

1. Lexus RX line up - How it all started

Lexus RX is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV of the giant Japanese automobile, Toyota. The design has been in the market since 1998. Ever since then, four generations of Lexus RX have been manufactured and released into the market. The concept behind RX design was based on similar design in Toyota Highlander/Kluger. The sales of Lexus RX first release began immediately in the hometown under the brand of Toyota Harrier. The first generation was compact in size while subsequently in the three other generations, adopted a mid-size SUV design. The RX in Lexus RX stands for Radiant Crossover, which in some automotive markets, they might call it recreation cross country.

In its size, Lexus RX is smaller than GX and LX on body frame, but there is also a smaller SUV than RX, which is the Lexus NX. The first generation was Lexus RX 300, released into the market in 1998 with a V6 engine of 3.0L. The same engine capacity was featured in the second gen, which went on sale with RX330 in 2003. The RX 330 featured a different engine variant of 3.3L of V6 engine. Both models and their engine variants were later surpassed by the Lexus RX 350, equipped with a 3.5L V6 engine. It was in the third generation (2009) that the accustomed name, Toyota Harrier for this Lexus series ceased to exist. Lexus retained its full control over subsequent release. The third generation was released in 2009, the RX 350 and RX 450 has similar 3.5L V6 engine.

3. Updated reviews in Nigeria - Pros and cons of Lexus RX 300

Since Lexus RX 300 is an older and first generation model of RX line, the brand new has faded and being replaced with other generations' models. People have used it very well overtime and their judgements are somehow precise about this model. Check out what you excite you and what might upset you about it:

3.1. Positive feedback of Lexus RX 300 by Nigerians

Following are comments on this car model by our local drivers. Some feedbacks are too obvious, right? When it comes to Toyota products, fuel efficiency is a must and when mentioning a luxury segment not just Lexus, beautiful exterior and stylish interior are totally predictable. However, not all luxury cars can perform its durability and powerful strength on road. Lucky you, Lexus RX 300 is exactly on top list.

-Speed
-Stylist and spacious interior
-Fuel efficiency
-Exterior beauty
-Durability, comfortability and powerful

3.2. Negative feedback of Lexus RX 300 by Nigerians

No one is perfect, neither does Lexus. Due to the different driving conditions and terrains, occasional failures may happen. However, these issues are often minor and can be easily fixed at Lexus auto repairs.

Ocassional boot motor failure
Ocassional starting issue/idling
Bonnet issue

4. Conclusion

Lexus RX 300 might be the first generation SUV under the Lexus RX series, but we are really sure that this car will give you all the excitements you want in a car such as comfort and ruggedness needed for any kind of tough terrain in the country. You can check out the Lexus RX 300 price in Nigeria. Another Lexus RX model that might catch your fancy is RX 350, which a bit higher and expensive than RX 300.

Transmission maintenance tips every driver must know

1. Consistent transmission fluid check – don’t forget your gauge!

With various moving parts of the car causing friction as they move against themselves, it is only appropriate that a fluid is introduced to reduce the heat generated by this friction and to ease the movements of the parts. As the transmission is also composed of moving parts, there is a specialised fluid manufactured to ease them, and regular check should be done to ascertain if the fluid is in need of replacements.

So how do I know when to change the transmission fluid you may ask? Well, it is not rocket science, but a simple procedure. Healthy transmission fluid has somewhat of a sweet smell, with a clear bright red colour. To check your transmission fluid, simply locate transmission fluid receptacle under the bonnet using your car manual. While the engine is idle, remove the dipstick noting the colour and smell of the fluid. If it smells “rotten” and the colour is dark and murky, that will be your cue to change it.

Knowing the right colour, smell, and quantity of your transmission fluid is an essential skill!

If this is not the case, then, you should wipe the fluid off the dipstick and replace it in the receptacle. Wait a few seconds, and then remove it again to check if it is gauged or not noting the marks on the dipstick. If it falls short of the optimum markings then it needs to be topped. A quality transmission fluid should last a distance of between 50,000 km to 100,000 km but once any of the signs mentioned above is noted, you should consult a repair specialist right away to have your car fluid changed.

2. Follow the “Severe Use” replacement schedule to avoid heat damage

If you tow heavy loads, drive in heavy city traffic, and drive in temperatures of 33C or higher during half of your driving time, then your transmission system falls under severe use.

Severe use can increase the heating as well as the rate of wear and tear of your transmission, and this means you will need to increase the rate of checking and replacement of transmission fluid.

Severe use of your car transmission might require replacement of your fluid more regularly!

Changing your filters at every 30,000 km can save your transmission if is severely used.

3. How about your engine’s cooling system? Keep it in the best shape

Your cooling systems and your radiator not only cools your engine but also your transmission fluid pumped through your gearbox. Therefore, it will be good for you to have your cooling system in the best possible condition to avoid overheating of your transmission fluid.

Ensuring that your coolant is in the right quantity and quality will do well to preserve both the life of your engine and your transmission.

4. Parking brakes and gear changes – do not abuse!

Do you know that gears and parking brakes can be abused? Yes, they can! Abuse is simply the abnormal use of anything, and there are instances where parking brakes and gears have been used abnormally.

Shifting the gears into reverse while the car is still in motion is an instance of gear abuse. Also, putting the gear in park while the car is still moving is yet another example. Not engaging parking brakes when parking on an inclined plane is but another example of gear abuse. The fact that a “pawl” or pin is engaged in automatic vehicles when on inclined planes does not excuse the use of the parking brakes as these pins are not sturdy enough to handle the force for a long period.

You should avoid gear abuse and parking brake abuse with every ounce of willpower you've got!

These kinds of abuses eventually cause wear and tear that damages the transmission in the long term.

5. Year on year transmission check – these come in handy!

Yes! prevention is better than cure. I know we know that already, but it’s true. If you can only invest in a yearly comprehensive inspection of every system in your car at a sound auto centre, then you will be saving your transmission’s life as you can detect any problem early enough.

Wrapping up!

There you have the top 5 tips to maintain your transmission amd avoid a costly breakdown from Naijauto. Make sure to heed these tips and you can rest easy!

4 ways to avoid a car slipping in rainy seasons

Do away with worn out or old tires

It might be hard to accept but it’s a safety fact that worn out/old tires are risky and bad to keep using.

Every vehicle is highly dependent on its tires for firm braking and proper movement which all this are made possible by the threads on the tire that helps it to maintain friction on any road surface. When your vehicle’s tires are all old and worn out, you will notice that the threads as well will be barely present. This is to tell you that such tires will just be slipping erratically because they can hardly generate friction anymore to hold their grip on the road surface as the car moves.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOyA-fNTNq8

Drive slowly when the road is wet

A wet or muddy road/surface will naturally have less friction which can easily cause slipping of a vehicle so, you can only take caution by driving slowly in such conditions as you should be already aware that with such less friction possibility, braking and movement control is reduced by default. Speeding in such a scenario is just a plainly crazy idea that is not in any way advisable at all.

Keep a sensible distance between your car and the one ahead

The normal traffic rule even stated it already that a driver should keep at least 10 steps of distance from the next vehicle ahead when driving. It’s a pity that in Nigeria, most drivers don’t even stick to any traffic rule whether they are aware of it or not.

If you drive too close or head-on with the vehicle ahead of you in a slipping road situation then, you have high chances of hitting that car if the driver unexpectedly hits the brake at any point because you will apply your brakes suddenly as well but your vehicle will still slip and crash the next one due to the super close proximity.

Before entering a bend or curve, slow down

Expect your car to slip out of control if you brake suddenly or take a sharp bend/curve too quickly even if the road is not wet. And when the road is wet like in the rain, you will be risking your life not slowing down and entering a sharp turn with speed or suddenly hitting your brakes while on speed on a wet road. It can surely lead to a serious disaster if care is not taking.

For your own good, slow down before you enter a bend/curve when driving on a wet road. Also, begin to decelerate slowly before you suddenly hit the brakes when the road is wet.

Simple steps to sell car in Nigeria the quickest

1. Wanna be a successful car seller? This article is for you!
Everyday more and more people are selling their cars in Nigeria because even more are buying. But selling a car can be the most frustrating endeavor if you don’t know how to go about it. This doesn’t have to be the case though. Being a car seller without going through undue stress depends on how you handle the whole process of selling your car. Read on, because this simple guide will teach you how to sell car in Nigeria.

2. To-do list before putting your car up for sale
To boost the price of your used car, before announcing it's for sale, make sure you finish the check list below!

a) Repairs
Check all the major and minor faults outside and inside your car
Have a mechanical engineer check the engine for leaks and corrosions, the hoses and belts for cracks, and the radiator hoses which should be hard, not soft.
Carefully inspect the car’s hood thoroughly for dents, damages and rust.
Check all the upholstery of the car for tears, rips, stains or damage, and repair them.
Check the timing belt, which is one of the most important items in the car.
Make sure the car tires look well kept and matched.
Fix all faults if possible. Adding new accessories are not necessary as they will have no real bearing on the sale of the car. What's more important is that the car should be up and running.
b) Cleaning
Ensure the cleanliness of the entire vehicle inside out. Having a clean car, and an equally clean interior can impact how much a potential buyer will be willing to pay for it.
Do not use the regular laundry soaps to wash your car because they can and will damage the wax and paintings. Buy a car cleaning product specially designed for the car. Also, application of car cleaning product varies from car to car, so you must read the instructions carefully. For example, Chrome cleaner can ruin the beauty of an aluminum made car because of its high level of acidic contents.
Use separate clothes for cleaning car windows and wheels.
Carry out a thorough interior sweep; make sure it is free from dents, trash, scrapes, rips and tears. Wipe the brake dust off the wheel covers and treat the tires like a new bride with a tire gloss product.
Clean the windows in & out, as well as all the mirrors with chrome cleaning product to give it the shine it deserves.
Clean the dashboard and empty the ashtrays.

c) Replacements
Don’t just clean your car, consider replacing items that need replacement and make sure it is a low cost expense. Buyers will normally look at things like tires, radios, and so on.

d) Documentation
Be sure your papers are valid and complete. Nothing kills a sale faster than ambiguous documentation.

e) Minimum price
You need to do some homework to arrive at a realistic price for your vehicle. Set a price that doesn’t make you look desperate, but that is also profitable. You can refer to updated car prices in Nigeria to estimate the value of your car model.

f) Location
Like real estate, location matters for your speedy car sale. Choose a spot that is visible and welcoming. You can use a local car mart or outside a supermarket to display the car. Even if you plan to sell online, a good website for car market doesn’t hurt to have. We will introduce some reliable sources right below!

3. Sell car contract
Though a commercial contract is optional when selling cars in Nigeria, a legal sales agreement is necessary for you to make the sale of your car official.

A typical contract contains details such as make, year, body type, chassis number, engine number, license plate number, and even color of the car. It will also contain both buyer and seller information, price the car fetched, date of transaction, and witnesses' name and signature. You might need legal services to draft a car sales agreement though you can DIY. There's no fixed format of a sell car contract, as long as you and buyer agree with what included in there.
Conclusion
So there you have it, everything you need to know about how to sell cars in Nigeria without too much hassles. You will need to follow the basic guide above carefully in order to have a successful, happy car sale.

How to buy cheap car in Nigeria

***Notes: Cons of buying cheap cars in Nigeria: Make sure you fully understand the pros and cons of buying cheap cars (mostly used cars) instead of a brand new. Once you're 100% sure about your decision, we'll talk about the procedure of buying cheap cars in Nigeria.

Since buying a brand new car assembled locally might be outside the reach of average incomes in Nigeria, this leaves the options of Tokunbo cars and Nigerian used cars as the viable alternatives for a majority of potential car buyers in Nigeria. However, buying these cheaper cars come with a lot of potential risks and drawbacks. Some of these are:

Uncertain car history (the cars may be stolen, smuggled, or worse)
Accidented cars can easily be disguised with superficial repairs and sold.
Clearing difficulties and other customs related risks.
Fluctuations in foreign currencies exchange rates making them more expensive.
Need for basic background of E-commerce and international transactions.

Step-by-step-guide in buying a cheap car in Nigeria
Step 1: Research

The first move in buying a cheap car in Nigeria is to find out everything you can about cars in general, cars in Nigeria and cheap or used cars in Nigeria particularly. You can get valuable knowledge, of course, online, but also from friends, neighbors, and even your local mechanic. Their years of experience, driving cars in the local environment, could be many times more useful than something you may pull off a generic site on the web. Some vital info you will be able to garner from your research include the best cars for the Nigerian climate and roads, average prices and best locations to buy. At this stage, a current auto information resource like Naijauto’s car buying tips and advice section must be a constant companion. This gives you well researched and current information on car brands, prices, and best locations for purchase.

Step 2: Determine your price range

You can determine the car you can afford based on your preferences, as well as on your available cash resources. Be sure to periodically consult used car prices here so you know how cheap a cheap car in Nigeria should be.

Step 3: Check everything twice

Once you have seen the car you want at the price you are comfortable with, then you must verify the information to make sure it is as advertised. It helps to have an expert, e.g. a trusted mechanic, give the vehicle a once over, including a test drive under different road and weather conditions. Rust and signs of oil leakage are not great indicators you made the right choice. Abnormally low mileage for a used car is also a red flag, as this may mean odometer tampering. If possible, do a VIN (vehicle identification number) test. A VIN check can uncover important elements of the car’s history.

Step 4: Paperwork must be on-point!

To avoid the future hassles with Customs and Police, make doubly sure your potential car’s documentation is above board. You may require a court affidavit, a valid change of ownership, and a police report if you are buying a Nigerian used car. If you bought a Tokunbo, determine that it was brought into the country legally, and all duties were paid and certified. You will then need to register your newly purchased car and get the necessary insurance cover such as third party insurance, as well as an MOT test certificate for vehicles older than 5 years.

Celebrities / Jeff Bezos Cars: Which Beasts The Richest Man On Earth Is Owning? by Naijautonews: 11:19am On Mar 05, 2019
Gone are the days Bill Gate are mentioned in every forum about his giant net worth. Now comes the time of Jeff Bezos – the first centi-billionaire on Forbes index, and definitely Jeff Bezos cars are the topics of all male conversations. Check out surprising facts and his car collection inside!
Jeff Bezos cars: how the Amazon CEO drives to work every morning
Have you ever heard of the Jeff Bezos' favourite car - the $2,000 1996 Honda Accord he usually drives to work? To be more exact, his wife drives him in this old Honda every morning.

He’s such a modest billionaire! You must say with utter admiration.

But look twice at the list below and hold your breath for extravagant vehicles this billionaire owns in his garage. No one buys a six garage mansion for one Honda Accord!

1. Ferrari Pininfarina Sergio - $3 million (₦1.1 billion) - the "cheapest" one of Jeff Bezos cars

2. Bugatti Veyron Mansory - $3.4 million (₦1.2 billion) - Jeff Bezos's favourite car

3. W Motors Lykan Hypersport - $4 million (₦1.5 billion)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUAKNO0CmFI

Jeff Bezos houses: neighbors of Bill Gates, the Obamas, Ivanka Trump & Hollywood stars
The Amazon founder is owning at least 4 giant estates across the United States, in the same street or neighborhood with renowned billionaires, politicians and movie stars. Now, let’s take a look one by one and ready to wow!

1. Medina in Washington
Jeff Bezos owns 2 homes in Medina, the same area with Bill Gates. The first house is over 1,900 m2 while the other is nearly 800 m2. The total price of these properties when Jeff bought them was $10 million (~N3.6 billion). He also spent $28 million in 2010 for renovation.

2. Beverly Hills in California
Sounds familiar? This is the spot of almost all biggest stars in the Hollywood industry. The street where the Bezos (sometimes) reside has been home to such household names as Jimmy Stewart or Donna Reed.

The Spanish style home was sold to Bezos at $24 million in 2007, containing 7 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, a swimming pool, a tennis court, 6 car garages, 4 fountains, a formal garden, a guest house and a cutting-edge media room.

Roomy as it seems, this house doesn’t meet Bezos’ recent requirements. Therefore, the centi-billionaire has spent $13 million buying a modest 4-bedroom house next to his.

3. Van Horn in Texas
Bezos is a good boy, so he bought a 30,000-acre ranch in Texas to remember the summertime in his grandparents’ farm here. The land is also home base to his private space company – Blue Origin.

30,000-acre home counted, Bezos is owning approximately 400,000 acres in West Texas and no one knows exactly how much he has spent buying and renovating this area.
4. Washington D.C
2 years ago, the Amazon CEO acquired a $23-million building in Kalorama, Washington. The house was built in 1912 and used to serve as a textile museum. Right down the street is the home of Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner. Obamas’ house stays nearby, worth roughly $5.3 million.

8. Boeing 747-8 VIP - $150m (~N58b)
The Boeing 747-8 VIP should be described as a monolithic palace in the air. No one has acquired this great Boeing yet but if someone does, he has to ascertain he’s ready for $150m.

7. Boeing 747-8I VIP $153m (N59b) - owned by Joseph Lau
When coming into the possession of Hong Kong real estate tycoon, Joseph Lau, the Boeing 747-8I VIP attained a new name as Dreamliner and boarding this plane will definitely be a dream as well with the top-notch technology and notoriously expensive interior featuring the video displays, spiral staircases, and vaulted ceiling.

6. Boeing 767-33A $120 -170m (N46b-N66b)- owned by Roman Abramovich
The Chelsea owner loves vehicles. Alongside his exotic car fleet, a private jet is a must for a successful tycoon like him.
The Boeing 767-33A gets a nickname for itself as “The Bandit”. Its costly feel doesn’t come much from the outside but mostly in its interior with gold details and chestnut.

5. Boeing 747-400 - $220m (~N85b) - owned by Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal
The richest man in Saudi Arabia spent $220m on this Boeing 747-400 which has 11 flight attendants always ready to serve him to heaven.

4. Boeing 747-430 - $233m (~N90b) - owned by Sultan of Brunei
Here comes the richest monarch on earth who extravagantly invests in enhancing his garage. Besides his love for cars, the Sultan of Brunei also loves floating in the clouds. His private jet cost him $100m but he spent an extra of $123m upgrading his interior.

3. Airbus A340-300- $250-500m (N97b-N194b) - owned by Alisher Usmanov
The #28 ranking in the Forbes’ List of World’s Billionaires gained recognition after taking a Facebook share of $1.4b. Not many know he is also a proud owner of the Airbus A340 which cost him around $250m to have. That’s just not the end of the story. The biggest private jet in his home country Russia could be customized, which would ask for up to $500m. And for sure this billionaire wouldn’t miss a chance to bring his steel bird to the highest feel of luxury.

2. Airbus A380-Custom - $500m (~N194m) - owned by Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal
Aside from the Boeing 747-400, Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal also acquires the Airbus A380-Custom which is widely known as the largest passenger jet in the world which can give sufficient room for 853 passengers. But of course, he didn’t buy it for business. Then, I start to doubt how he could make good use of the spacious atmosphere inside with a dining room providing seats for 14 people, a lounge area, a concert hall, two bedrooms, and a magic carpet room.

1. Boeing 747 refit - $617m (~N240b) - anonymous owner
This most expensive private jet hides the identity of its owner who extravagantly spent $617m to give this jet classic air. The priciest plane is designed with various bedrooms, lounges, and a special restaurant. Also, in the plane locate up to 8 full-size beds.

Car Talk / 11 Biggest Vehicles In The World History (no.9 Is Just Insane) by Naijautonews: 10:16am On Feb 21, 2019
Being the leading automobile listing portal in Nigeria, Naijauto.com brings to you 11 biggest vehicles in the world history. Here they are:

1. LeTourneau TC-497 (Overland Train)
This large overland train was created back in the 50’s like an experiment to see if it can be an alternative way of shipping things to remote areas with train apart from using railroads.

The longest one produced reached about 600ft back then. This overland train is considered one of the largest off-road vehicles as it is capable of going anywhere, even the most unreachable places for the normal rail trains.

2. Schwerer Gustav
This gigantic vehicle is the king of blockade weapons. It is a massive weaponry that is built to fire up to 7-ton shells over 30 miles distance. Crazy isn’t it?

During the 2nd World War, this weapon was used in taking down one of the French’s strongest fortifications. The size of its shells is almost equal that of a whole tank.

3. Prelude FLNG
Take a closer look at the image below, you will notice how large this Prelude FLNG ship is. You will observe that it is almost equal in size as that small mountain in the image background.

This ship weighs over 600,000 tonnes when in operation and it is a whopping 1600 feet long. It is still a wonder how such a weight could be kept afloat on water. The ship’s serve as a means of taking natural gas and turning it into liquid on the sea rather than on land.

4. BelAZ 75710
This is the biggest dump truck in the world. It is just large.
This truck has 2 engines that pump out 4600 horsepower in total. It might not be as efficient as the normal sized ones, but it surely works.

5. Dodge Power Wagon
Ever wanted to see the largest pickup truck that was made? Here you go.

It’s a modification of the 50’s model of a pickup truck. This truck holds in it 4 bedrooms with fitted air conditions, a bathroom, and a living room. It possesses a motorized tailgate which can even be dropped down to act as a terrace. Billionaire Sheikh Hamad had commissioned this truck in the UAE.

6. Antonov an-225
Designed in the 1980s by the Soviets, this gigantic cargo plane has in its landing gear 32 wheels. Possessing a wingspan of about 290ft, you will barely be able to fit this plane on a standard football field if you try.

A wonder isn’t it? The wings alone are almost the size of a normal commercial airplane. Antonov an-255 has flown in the air many times and this makes it more useful than other planes of similar size.

7. MIL V-12
This is definitely the King of all the helicopters ever made. It’s a giant prototype helicopter that holds the world record for taking over 30,000lbs of payloads higher than any other helicopter ever made.

8. Schuerle SPMT
Oil rig on wheels. Yeah, that’s right, that’s what it is. The SPMT (Self Propelled Modular Transporter) as it is called.

As you will see in the picture below, this gigantic vehicle moves by a brilliant combination of sets of small-sized wheels located right underneath it. Take a closer look at the image and you will see these wheels. Altogether, It is a movable oil rig.

9. Bagger 288
We have shown you, oil rig on wheels initially right? Prepare to be blown away because now, its time to see something you can simply call “a factory on wheels”. It’s the Bagger 288, the world’s largest bucket wheel excavator of all time.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34QdInmJFTw&t=44s

This gigantic looking machine was built solely for mining purposes. The Bagger 288 can mine an area of land as large as 90 meters per day – that’s like the size of a whole soccer field. The amount of power that will be needed to power 2500 plus houses per day is the exact same power needed to power this machine daily, which is over a 16.5Mw of power.

10. World's Longest Limo
On a normal day, you would argue that the normal limousine vehicle we see around is longer than most cars right? Now, check this out and you will be left with the question - why anyone would want to make an already lengthy car longer?

This vehicle is about 100ft long and was created by Jay Ohrburg in Burbank, California. It holds the world record for longest limousine ever made. It moves on 26 wheels and as you would guess, needs two well-trained drivers to actually move it on the road. From having its own helipad to possessing a swimming pool, heated jacuzzi, sun deck, and king-sized bed, this limousine is definitely a moving pack of luxury.

11. NASA Crawler Transporter
NASA definitely took this vehicle thing to a different level. This transporter had been designed to ease the movement/transportation of built space shuttles to the location where they would be launched from their initial build location.

This crawler transporter is equipped with impressive laser technologies that guide and level the platform keeping it upright and helping it to precisely plant the space shuttles where they are needed to be at the final destination.

Notes on how to buy cars from owners in Nigeria

Below are some notes for you before opting for a used car for sale from owner in Nigeria:

1. Always arrange a meet-up for inspection
It’s unwise to take the owners word for it. Someone who wants to sell their car may not be 100% honest about the car’s condition. Buying cheap local used cars for sale by owners offers a more flexible inspection, so arrange to meet with the other at a convenient and safe place, and carry out proper used vehicle inspection.

2. Bring a mechanic
You may be knowledgeable about cars, but there may be hidden problems you aren’t aware of. Such problems can only be detected by an expert. Save yourself the trouble, and have the car certified okay by your mechanic.

3. Always verify the plate number
Plate number verification is important as it reveals the history of the car to you. You don’t want to end up with a stolen car. A quick rundown of the history will inform you of any red flags.

4. Take a longer test drive
The car might have been setup to look good within the few minutes or hours of inspection. Ask the seller to allow you drive the car for a day or two. That way, you’ll get to know any problems the car might have.

5. Verify the documents
It’s unwise to make payments for a car without verifying its documents. Take the documents to the relevant authorities for verification. Make sure the car papers are all original as well.

6. Don’t make cash payments
You are dealing with a stranger; take precautionary measures. You need to have some evidence of payment. You should either issue the seller a cheque or make a bank transfer.

7. Meet at an open location
The transaction shouldn’t be done in a secluded location. For your safety, meet the seller at an open place, along with one or two witnesses.

Car Talk / What Car Part Has The Most Significant Effect On Its Fuel Economy? by Naijautonews: 11:18am On Feb 18, 2019
Before we dive into listing out or discussing any of this part, we will like to first point out a simple fact to you: Replace worn out car parts to help your car have good fuel economy. Yes, you read that right. If you replace all the worn parts of your car and also follow some really nice maintenance advice like the ones we have here at Naijauto.com under our car maintenance tips and advice section. Take it or leave it, you would have done 50% of the job of saving your car from bad fuel economy doing that alone.

So, if you have all worn parts replaced already and still face bad fuel economy, let’s proceed. Here are the parts you should look closely into as suspects:

1. The oxygen sensor in the car
An oxygen sensor is a component you should find mounted in all the cars manufactured after the year 1995. This sensor sends important information to the car’s computer which this computer uses in adjusting the car’s fuel injection. This information is more of a set of data from the sensor’s calculation of the exhaust flow before & after the catalytic converter. Now, you can imagine the repercussions if this component that does all this calculation is not functioning properly. The fact that this sensor affects the gas mileage of your car will make it transmit erroneous data when faulty, and this will, in turn, affect your car’s gas mileage. All leading to the bad fuel economy of the car.

2. The mass air flow sensor in the car
The Mass Air Flow (MAF) in your car is a crucial component that contributes to the car’s fuel efficiency. Just like the oxygen sensor, the MAF also transmits data to the car’s computer. But its own data is quite different because its function is to measure the amount of fuel that is entering the car’s engine. The data it transmits to the vehicle’s computer is a calculation based on the amount of fuel it senses.

So, if your car has a dirty or bad MAF, it will be transmitting an outbalance calculation to the computer; this will definitely affect the fuel injection in the car and overall bad fuel economy. You can easily determine the condition of your car’s MAF by scanning the vehicle’s computer codes. You can do this on your own or simply seek the help of an automotive expert in case you get confused or lost along the line.

Oxygen sensor and MAF sensor are 2 of the 7 most important sensors in your car engine.

3. The car’s air filter
This component has a self-defining name. Isn’t it? “Air filter” as it’s called, is also its function. This component gets really dirty sometimes and especially in old cars, it reduces the gas mileage. This mostly happens as a result of continuous air flow through the already dirty air filter. And the most ridiculous thing about this component is that it is relatively quick and easy to change. So, what are you waiting for? It will be very wise to get the air filter changed timely before it even becomes extremely dirty and starts affecting the car’s fuel economy.

Decreased fuel mileage is just one of the 5 common problems caused by clogged air filter, including black exhaust fume and harsh engine sound.

4. The spark plugs in the engine
Did you know that the spark plugs in your car, are the ones that are actually responsible for igniting the air and fuel mixture in the combustion chamber of your car engine? But during excessive fuel consumption, misfire is caused over there as oil will keep spilling all over these spark plugs. Apart from this, a clear pointer towards bad mileage in your car is when you notice your car vibrates and also struggle to even accelerate. Two possible reasons could be behind this; either the spark plugs are dead or the ignition coil is worn out. Usually, the engine’s heat would have worn out the ignition coil and made it worse. So, a bad ignition coil is mostly the culprit.

5. Look at your car tires (we mean it)
This point might sound dumb at first, right? Well, it’s not. Let’s tell you why it’s not.

Worn-out tires, underinflated tires or non-aligned tires all directly affect your car’s fuel efficiency and handling.
When you take to realize that these tires are responsible for maintaining friction the road surface and the vehicle itself. So, their alignment, pressure and timely inflation checking are unavoidable if you really want to save your car from bad fuel economy.

Car Talk / Straight Pipe Exhaust - Definition, Pros & Cons by Naijautonews: 5:50am On Feb 16, 2019
1. Straight pipe exhaust – What is it?
The classic/normal exhaust system is usually comprised of; resonators which lessen emissions and the sound levels, catalytic converters and mufflers. This is why it is not legal to be using straight pipe exhaust on the streets rather, they are utilized in closed racing paths. Racing vehicle engines enjoy more torque and more horsepower which is provided to them by properly designed and tuned straight pipe exhaust.

When it comes to gas flow, these type of exhaust systems doesn’t hold any sort of boundaries as they are built for racing engines. No catalytic converter or muffler is present in this type of exhaust system, rather the simply comprise of a straight pipe that starts from the header and just goes straight to the air.

You should expect more noise coupled with extra power in your vehicle if you employ a straight pipe exhaust. And if you want to install this type of pipe on your car, we advise that you think about noise laws and emission laws of your region or area first. This explains why this type of exhaust system isn’t found in most modern, newer cars that are being rolled out. If added, these cars can easily exceed their appropriate emissions level.

2. Straight pipe exhaust – The pros and cons
Since, we have already gave you a brief overview of what a straight exhaust pipe is, now is time to discuss its pros and cons.

2.1. The pros of straight pipe exhaust
Just like we had mentioned earlier that, the high-performance delivered by this type of exhaust system is the main reason why you will see most automobile enthusiast going for it. They provide better fuel economy and more power gains by helping to reduce back pressure in the vehicle’s which they are applied. Nonetheless, the horsepower and torque are greatly affected by size of these pipes which is why care needs to be taken when selecting one. These pipes can also provide a great look when chrome fittings are used to extend them up and dress them as well.

2.2. The cons of straight pipe exhaust
Even though this exhaust system has lots of benefits, when it comes to flexibility, they are lacking. Because you will need to tune your car according to this exhaust system, the cost can be the first drawback. Expect that piles of the low-end torque will be lost in your car if you did not get the proper pipe size during the mod. You might also be putting yourself in trouble with the loud sound levels that your car will be producing as a result of you employing these straight pipes. This is why these straight pipe exhaust systems is mainly only used by car fanatics.

Transportation business is fast growing into a lucrative business opportunity, all thanks to the teeming population in Nigeria. Whether it’s an uber, cab, taxi, intra- and inter-city-whatever commercial means, not all cars are suitable for a transportation business.

Car Talk / 8 Steps To Take While Storing Your Car For A Long Time by Naijautonews: 10:25am On Feb 15, 2019
How to effectively store my car for future use?

1. Use quality car cover or pack your car indoor
Not every car cover you see out there is good enough for your car in protecting or storing it. Find a reliable shop and buy good car cover.
Alternative to this, is parking your car inside. Probably you have a garage, drive into the garage and park inside. One mistake you should not make is using car cover inside the garage or any indoor place. This is because it will expose your carry to excess warmth that will dry off cool temperature needed to preserve your car over a long period of time.

2. Avoid activating the handbrake when you store the car
To avoid stuck brake pad especially to the drums or disc, refrain from engaging your car brake when you are preserving it over a long period of time. One smart move Nigerian drivers do is to put a heavy object like stone or wood to chock the wheel from moving.

3. Always take care of the spark plug
One mistake you do not want to make when storing your car overtime is leaving the spark plug in the engine except you want to come back from trip and discover your engine won’t start. To preserve the spark plug, endeavor to remove it and spray fuel additive or oil on it to prevent it from rusting. The part of a spark plug that rusts mostly is the cylinder head. Pay attention to it.

4. Dust off inner cabin of dirt
Before parking your car for storage, make ensure you clean the inside properly. This is because; leaving food remnants in the car may attract rodents that will chew up all your wires before you get back to your car. After cleaning, make sure you lock your car properly.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RN22T9yZK8Y

5. Leave your car with full gas tank
In order to prevent rustiness that happens in the fuel tank when you leave it for a lengthy period of time, it is advisable you fill up your gas tank. Make sure you get a quality fuel that will not further damage your car. After that, remember to seal the opening properly.

6. Remove the battery
Just like the spark plug, car battery is also one thing you do not want to leave in your car when preserving for future use. Before you leave the car, make sure you disconnect the terminals and use oil to keep it from rusting. Leave it fully charged and always store in a cool dry place.

7. Apply wax or polish to preserve the paint
To have your shinny car back after a long period of time, thoroughly wash it and apply wax and polish on the exterior to preserve the paint over a long period of time.

8. Lift the car using jack before leaving
To protect your tyre due to stationed weight on it over a period of time, use your jack and raise your car.

Car Talk / Audi Sold Out 114,650 Cars In January 2019! Sales Target Of All Brands! by Naijautonews: 10:17am On Feb 15, 2019
There were about 144,650 Audi cars delivered to customers around the world in this January, showing positive sales in the two most developed markets.
144,650 sold cars in the very first month of 2019 promise a successful year for Audi AG. Let see what they have done!
There were about 144,650 Audi cars delivered to customers around the world in this January, showing positive sales in the two most developed markets.

Audi AG attained the greatest January achievement ever in the Chinese market with sales rising by 5.1% to 64,000 automobiles. The domestically produced models still experienced impressive growth in demand: The number of orders for the A3 reached to 8,748 (+ 20%) while that of the A4 L rose to 16,668 (+ 21.3%), both increased above-average. Besides, the long-wheelbase version of the Audi Q2 launched in November becomes one among best-selling models in this country with 2,693 customers.

In European countries, the deliveries of goods continue to be impacted by the transition to the latest WLTP driving cycle. The number of Audi cars delivered in its home continent dropped by 8.5%, as compared to that in 2018. Until now, there are 129 engine/transmission variants homologated by the Ingolstadt-based auto manufacturer on the basis of WLTP criteria; the portfolio in Audi’s configurator is being extended weekly.
In its home country, Germany kicked off the year of 2019 positively, up 1.5% with 23,359 sold cars. Meanwhile in Russia, thanks to the launch of the Q8 and dynamic market there, the company has its sales up to 900 cars (+24%).

Audi closed January in the US with sales down 1.8% (14,253 sold cars). The long government shutdown, transport issues, and the severe winter accounted for this downward trend.

Have u had any experience with GNLD? Could you share with us pls? The writer is trying to make a neutral position and collecting information about this networking scheme.
Car Talk / Anyone Seen Afeez Tijani Cars? Should You Join Multilevel Networking Business? by Naijautonews: 9:12am On Feb 14, 2019
1. Who is Afeez Tijani?
The information about this mysterious man is very limited. Our journalists have tried every way possible to extract even the tiniest bit of information about him. Apparently, Afeez Tijani car, his inspirational and at the same time controversial remarks are what showed up the most. Normally, a man with such attention should have spread his information all over the Internet by now.

In addition, some sources suggest that this man was born in 1976. If that information is true, he's probably 43 years old by now.

On his Facebook account, he claimed to have graduated from the prestigious institution, the University of Oxford, and is now working for GNLD, a Multileveled Marketing (or Network Marketing) company, as a high-ranking employee.

The information about the company will be revealed in the latter half of our article. Presumably, this job is how Afeez Tijani car and diamond villa were obtained.

2. Afeez Tijani cars - Afeez Tijani Toyota Land Cruiser
If you're not a GNLD follower, you may wonder why so many people are searching for Afeez Tijani car or Afeez Tijani Toyota Land Cruiser. He is not a celebrity nor a politician, but why get that much attention from the public?

The fact is recently, Alfeez Tijani car was revealed by a video he brought to his Facebook account. In the clip, there was a large crowd surrounding the car and a cameraman who moved around to try and get every corner of the car. Many of us might find this car familiar and strange at the same time. "Say what my friend??" might be your reaction, but just bear with me for a few more minutes and you'd know why!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vx7kfgGSZhM

3. GNLD Nigeria: where Afeez Tijani works & his money comes from
GNLD Nigeria, a.k.a NeoLife is a company that does business in the dietary supplement industry. The products are said to help with all sort of your dietary and health problems.

Neolife products
They sell everything that is claimed to help with your dietary issues, from detoxing, weight loss to maintaining your health. Most of them are canned and bottle goods that are said to be nutrient-packed. They are smart enough to warn us about the side effect. People who are lactose intolerant or are intolerant with senna extract might experience some stomach discomfort and cramps.
The company model is called "network marketing". But on our observation, it's just another way to describe the old-school Multi-leveled marketing, which sells products through promoters, and, in theory, could have an endless chain of commands. For example, if A invited B as his/her subordinate, B could do the same with another, and so on. The money you get bases on either how much the company sells or that plus how many people that are above your paygrade.

Source: https://naijauto.com/market-news/afeez-tijani-cars-2244

While many people are following Afeez Tijani into GNLD and spread this type of business, others cast doubt and even say it's scam and fraud.
What's your opinion? Anyone having experience in this field, pls feel free to share with others!

Car Talk / Bomb Joke On A Plane Gone Wrong As Panicked Passengers Jump Off Aircraft Wings by Naijautonews: 9:30am On Feb 13, 2019
The incident occurred on a Monday night when some passengers overheard a certain young man about 26 years old when he was telling one of the flight attendants that there was a bomb on board that plane. The plane was a 189-passenger Boeing 737 belonging to Lion Air Indonesia which was preparing for take-off to Jakarta.
As the passengers began to panic on hearing the bomb joke on the plane, one of them went ahead to furiously break the emergency exit windows. These broken exits aggravated the situation by allowing the already panicked passengers to start climbing out of the plane’s window. They got themselves onto the plane’s wing after climbing out the window and from there started jumping to the ground directly. Some of these panicked passengers even went to the extent of sliding down the plane’s right engine to land on the tarmac.

After a thorough search was conducted, officials found no explosive materials on this plane but about 10 of the panicked passengers were already injured as they were jumping and sliding to flee the plane. Most of the injured passengers had head wounds and broken bones and were admitted to the nearest hospital where they were being treated.

Car Talk / "Honda Sound Sitter" Can Calm Down Your Crying Babies by Naijautonews: 9:21am On Feb 13, 2019
It comes no surprise to hear the baby crying sound, especially when they’re hungry, cranky or just need parents’ attention. This causes lots of troubles and weariness to their caretakers. Understanding that, Japanese auto manufacturer Honda has designed Honda Sound Sitter in the shape of a toy car, which can tackle the issue.

As you may not know, the sound of car engines has a soothing effect to calm down baby’s nerves because it’s similar to the sound that babies have heard since they were in their mother womb, explained on Honda's website.

On the designing process, researchers in the company have tried out sounds from 37 different vehicle engines such as the Accords models, the Integras and the Civic, etc and finally identified the NSX engine sound offers the most effect. When it’s brought into the test on newborn babies and ones aged six to 18 months old, over 90 percent of them experienced the comfort and their heart rates were alleviated.

The Honda Sound Sitter is a red toy car with Honda label and speakers inside. As turning on the button remotely, the car would release the unique sound, which can calm down babies, makes them feel safe and enjoy the trip with their family.

Honda has no plan to start mass production of this toy car. Instead, they make the sounds from Integra Type R, the S2000, and the NSX available online so that parents can easily download and play it for their babies.

Car Talk / How To Buy Auction Cars From Nigeria Custom Services by Naijautonews: 11:18am On Jan 31, 2019
Following widespread spurious claims by persons who posed as customs agents, set up illegal Customs auctions, and effectively fleeced the unsuspecting public, the NCS (Nigeria Customs Service) decided to set up the Customs e-auction operation at app.trade.gov.ng/eauction

The website regulates all auction activities of the Nigerian customs service. The following process and notes enable you to participate and claim a car via the Nigeria Customs’s auction system:

1 - Each auction applicant needs to register on the website prior to bidding. The applicant needs to have a Tax Identification Number (TIN) from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). Each applicant must in addition attach an active e-mail address with their registration.
2 - The Applicant then pays a fee of One Thousand Naira (₦1,000) as non-refundable process fees.
3 - The applicant can then place a maximum of two bids for each auctioned item. Highest bidder wins.
4 - Applicants must note that items auctioned are done so on an “as is” basis. That being the case, the NCS does not accommodate requests for replacements of faulty or damaged items. Refunds are also not made by the Nigerian Customs.
5 - You are expected to pay the full amount of your successful bid no later than 5 working days after the conclusion of the bid process. Failing to claim the auctioned car by the full payment before the end of the fifth working day automatically results in a loss of the bid. The auctioned item then goes to the number 2 highest bid.
6 - Having paid the full bid amount, you will be given 14 days maximum to take possession of the car. You need to know that additional charges may apply at this point. For instance, number 8 of the auction site’s terms and conditions state that you may need to pay 25% of your winning bid sum as demurrage and another 25% for the shipping line. You will automatically forfeit your car if you fail to remove it from the storage premises at the end of 14 days after your bid session.
7 - Cars not removed by the expiration of the deadline once again become NCS property and may undergo another bid session. Funds thus lost are not refundable.
8 - As stated earlier, the NCS specifically warns that “ for overtime cargo, the successful bidder shall in addition pay 25% charges for Shipping Line and Terminal operators respectively”.
9 - Each applicant cannot bid on more than 2 auctioned items for any single bid session.
10 - In order to claim successful, fully paid for auctioned cars, you will need to present the following:
a) A copy of paid assessment and bank receipt (this is optional if you made an e-payment).

b) If the bidder cannot appear himself, a notarized letter is necessary before a proxy can be given the car. You need to make sure your uploaded photo matches your photo ID.

c) You will need to provide valid ID, which can be any of Driver’s license, International passport, National ID card, or PVC (Permanent Voter’s Card).

11 - Each auction window lasts for two days or Forty-eight hours. All bids must be placed during this period.
12 - Third party claims shall not be entertained.
13 - Officials and employees of the Nigeria Customs Service may not participate in auctions organized by NCS.
14 - You may not bid for a car or other goods impounded or seized from you by the Nigerian Customs.
15 - You may bid on an overtime cargo if you are the owner as long as it has not been cleared out of the premises. In that case, the owner will have priority over any other successful bid.

Politics / Buhari's Campaign Got Over 100 Cars From An APC Stalwart by Naijautonews: 11:07am On Jan 29, 2019
A stalwart of the All Progressive People’s Party (APC) in Niger State pledged his allegiance to the number one citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by donating a campaign secretariat and 100 vehicles to enhance the actualization of the President’s political ambition.

The donor who was identified as Mohammed Musa, and popularly called Sani 313, donated a three-storey building in addition to the vehicles for campaign movements. An event for the donation was among the many activities organized to take place while the President was on a visit to Niger State. But it had to be scheduled as a result of the very busy schedule of Mr. President.

Standing in for President Buhari, Governor of the state Abubakar Sani Bello received the donations on his behalf. The Governor expressed his appreciation to Mohammed Musa. He also urged the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) and the Buhari Support Organizations (BSO) to put the resources to good use for the President’s reelection bid.

Speaking at the event, Musa said he was happy to support the President for his exemplary leadership and zeal toward building the nation.

On a similar note, a Monarch in Anambra State, His Royal Highness Igwe Dennis Ezebuilo, made a donation of a Toyota Hilux as part of his support to the President’s reelection campaign. This was done in appreciation of the good works Buhari has done since he came into office.

Speaking on the President’s performance, the Monarch said he had performed very well in regard to transport and economy, infrastructure and anti-corruption. Igwe Dennis Ezebuilo made his donation in Abuja on January 19, 2019.

According to reports by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), His Royal Highness attributed his donation to the outstanding leadership of the President since getting into office. Speaking at the occasion, the traditional ruler called on Nigerians to support the President massively in his fight against corruption. He acknowledged that the President had prosecuted several corrupt public officers, allowing the law to take its course and recovering stolen funds. He commended the President on his Whistle Blower policy, which has motivated Nigerians to expose public officers who have looted funds. Keeping the policy ongoing would lead to the recovery of more stolen public funds, the Igwe added.

Receiving the donation of His Royal Highness at the Abuja office of the Buhari/Osinbajo campaign, the director, Mahmoud Mohammed, commended him for the gesture, and gave him the assurance that the vehicle would be used for the purpose it was donated for.

About the presidential election
The General Elections in Nigeria will be held on February 16, 2019. It’ll be the sixth democratic elections to be conducted in the country since May 1999. Top on the list that day is the Presidential Election.

Although there are other contestants from the 73 political parties running for the Office of the President, the two major frontrunners are the current president Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressive People’s Party (APC) and Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Unlike the 2015 presidential election where religion and region were determining factors as Muhammadu Buhari contested against Goodluck Jonathan, this time, both candidates are from the same region and are of the same religion. These will make the election even more competitive as people from the Northern Region will have divided votes.

Nigerians have different opinions in regard to their preferred candidate. With Buhari and Atiku being very popular among the masses in all regions of the federation, the forthcoming elections will be fiercely contested.

Car Talk / Rolls Royce To Build The World’s Fastest All-electric Airplane by Naijautonews: 5:50am On Jan 29, 2019
This Rolls Royce proposed electric plane will not only be environmentally friendly with zero emissions, but it is also proposed to make some great speed record mark in the world of aircraft. It is targeted to achieve an impressive speed of 480+ KMH (300+ MPH). Superfast, huh? This plot to make history has been arranged by the Rolls Royce company and it has begun already at a far side of the Gloucestershire Airport’s hangar bay in England.

They have brought together a team of their best British data specialists, designers, and engineers to work together in bringing this super-fast electric powered plane to reality. There isn’t going to be too much of waiting and suspense over the launch date of this high-performance electric powered plane as it has already been scheduled for the year 2020. It should take to the blue sky in Great Britain by that time according to Rolls Royce press release.
Rolls Royce made it clear to the public that they were not pulling a publicity stunt with this their proposed electric powered airplane. The Rolls Royce ACCEL initiative project manager, Matheu Parr, said:

“This plane will be powered by a state-of-the-art electrical system and the most powerful battery ever built for flight. In the year ahead, we’re going to demonstrate its abilities in demanding test environments before going for gold in 2020 from a landing strip on the Welsh coastline.”

Looking at this project thoroughly we could see a diverse lot of challenges that they will have to overcome in order to make the proposed plane a reality. Some of the challenges will include:

A need for an immensely powerful battery that is stable enough with no overheating, light enough in weight to fly, and have much power to deliver the expected speed and overall performance advertised.
They will be required to keep monitoring 20,000 data points/secs in real time, measuring the battery’s temperature and voltage and the powertrain’s overall health, which will be responsible for generating thrust and powering the propellers.
Although, it is worth mentioning that ACCEL currently has a superb battery pack that is the most energy-dense among battery packs ever assembled for use in aircraft. This powerful ACCEL battery pack on a single charge is packed with so much energy that it can power a 200 miles flight e.g. London to Paris.
