If such huge amount of money is forfeited, tell me how Union Bank would be able to pay back the depositors that actually owned the money.

Tell me how Union Bank would not fold up finally.

Guy,
Do you have sense at all? If this is happening under Buhari, that means it is not a business as usual. The question we should ask is that was money not released as budgeted? What has happened to the money released? There are questions to ask and there are answers to get. So senators are not being owed except workers.

SarkinYarki:
APC needs to stop this unholy lies of 7000 MWS, it's on record that Jonathan left an installed capacity of 7000 MWS before he left which Buhari wants to claim .. Can Buhari show us just one power plant his govt has initiated that has produced a single Megawatt?

Okay let me give you the names of power plants initiated by GEJ and dates initiated

Alaoji Power Station 1074MW 2012

Calabar Power Station 560MW 2012

Egbema Power Station 338MW 2012

Ihovbor Power station 450 MW 2013

Omoku Power Station 225MW 2012

Azura Power Station 450 MWS 2014

Itobe power plant 1200 MW 2014

KANO power station 100MW 2015

Now Below are those initiated by OBJ but completed by GEJ

Aba power station 270 MWS completed 2012

Geregu phase 2 434 MWS completed 2012

Olurunsogo phase 2 675 MW completed 2012

Omotosho phase 2 450mw completed 2012

Sapele power station 450 MWS completed 2012

Akwa Ibom Power plant 191Mws completed 2011

Zamafara power Station 100MW completed 2012

Please show me one that Buhari has even initiated since 1983 till date

The fact you need to understand is that power plants are built in lines. As you have written that OBJ completed 2lines in Geregu and Olorunsogo, now how many lines are working now? Definitely there have been expansion on these power generation stations from 2 running lines to 4 running lines. This has been transformed to increase in power generation
Also Egbin power station which have 2 lines running not optimally, maintenance has been carried out on the faulty lines and now we have at least 4 lines running.
So if you hear increase in power generation without building power plant, know that 2things must have been done
1. Effective maintenance on faulty generating lines
2.Expansion of the existing getting lines

Politics / Re: Tinubu Chose Osinbajo For Buhari, Was Not Interested In VP – Gen Ibrahim by NairaandNigeria: 12:27pm On Oct 05, 2016
Bobby4090:

Tinubu single-handedly chose Osinbajo for Buhari, was not interested in VP – General Ibrahim replies Prof. Paden

A retired general, Iliyasu Ibrahim, has discredited claims that a national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ahmed Bola Tinubu was against the emergence of the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo as running mate to President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 presidential election.

Ibrahim spoke on Tuesday in reaction to a portion of the recently-launched book by Professor John Paden on Buhari, titled: “Muhammadu Buhari: Challenges of Leadership,” which claimed that Osinbajo emerged as Vice President despite pressure against it by Tinubu.

Paden, in the book had stated that the former Lagos State governor had wanted the Vice President’s role for himself and not Osinbajo.

The Professor had noted that, “With Buhari coming from the North-West geopolitical zone, the Vice-Presidency had been ceded to the South-West geopolitical zone.

“Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State and political ‘godfather’ of the South-West geopolitical zone, felt he should be the vice-presidential candidate.

“His protégée and the then popular Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola, was also a possible candidate.

“Both Tinubu and Fashola were Muslims, which complicated the national balance.

“A third candidate, Yemi Osinbajo, had been Attorney General of Lagos State and a senior law professor and a pastor.

“When the three names were forwarded to Buhari, he chose Osinbajo despite enormous pressure from Tinubu.”

However, Ibrahim, in a statement issued yesterday, said, “I became disturbed about this falsification of recent history. Why would the author say this and have it published when many of us know the truth? The truth is that Tinubu singlehandedly chose Yemi Osinbajo and sent the name to President Buhari. There was no pressure. Tinubu is Osinbajo’s political mentor. The latter was his attorney-general and commissioner for Justice in Lagos and both have a close relationship.

“My worry stretched further when I recall the recent piece by Femi Fani Kayode on Tinubu and his huge contributions to the APC and how he is now being short-changed. Though I do not agree with all the claims made by Femi Fani-Kayode, I am convinced he made some reasonable arguments and his summation about Tinubu’s role in the current political dispensation can hardly be faulted. In some areas, he went overboard and you could see him gloating, the PDP apologist that he is. Also, the mention of Governor Ajimobi as one of the governors working against Tinubu is a fallacy and here he got his facts wrong. Ajimobi has remained consistently behind Tinubu and that is easily verifiable.

“But back to the emergence of Osinbajo as Vice Presidential candidate. I was there the night before the final decision and subsequent announcement. I was there at the Lagos Lodge Annex in Asokoro, Abuja at Tinubu’s place. On the night in reference, Asiwaju insisted that three names would not be sent for the VP slot. He maintained that only one name would be sent. Eventually, the name of Osinbajo was sent to President Buhari. There was no issue of pressure.

“Osinbajo was Tinubu’s man and that was the only person Tinubu was willing to accept to cede the VP slot. Shortly after Governor Amosun came around to the Lagos lodge. He came in and we greeted. Now, it seems clear that some fifth columnists are trying to distort recent history and we should not let them. This history is too recent to be mutilated.”

As part of resolutions to get out of the current economic recession, the senate yesterday advised President Buhari to reconstitute the board of the Central Bank of Nigeria. The senate also advised President Buhari to appoint a Special Adviser that would negotiate with militants in the Niger Delta.

The full resolutions as shared by Senate President Bukola Saraki are as follows:-

1. The executive should forward an Economic Stimulus Bill containing all the fiscal stimulus packages, investments and incentives which will receive accelerated consideration and passage at the National Assembly.

2. The fiscal and monetary authorities must harmonise all policies that lower interest rates for investors in the real sector and small/medium scale farmers.

3. The government should adopt peaceful means in the Niger Delta to restore Nigeria’s oil production back to 2.2 million barrels per day.

4. The release of low interest funding under the stimulus package should be targeted at the following areas:

*Social Safety Programmes
*Humanitarian Activities in the North East
*Power Generation
*Agricultural value chain
*Textile manufacturing
*National highway network construction and maintenance
*Railway construction and maintenance
*Motor vehicle assembly plants
*Completion and commissioning of Ajaokuta Steel Complex
*Arts, Science and Technology

5. The President should appoint a Senior Special Adviser to lead the government engagement with the aggrieved Niger Delta Militants to ensure the protection of Nigeria’s oil and gas assets.

6. The Federal Government should negotiate foreign concessionary borrowing agreements to cover shortfalls in the 2016 budget and the government’s accelerated infrastructural development programme.

7. The Federal Government should restrict and cap the issuance of bonds and treasury bills in order not to crowd-out local investors from the market.

8. The Federal Government should ensure the payment of all genuine domestic debts owed to local contractors who have completed their jobs.

9. The Federal Government should settle all salaries and pension liabilities.

10. The Federal Government should leverage the use of pension and insurance funds to provide long-term capital on lending for agriculture, industry and housing projects.

11. The Executive should reconstitute the Board of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and all other critical agencies in order to ensure that they operate in accordance to their enabling laws.

12. The Legislature (through law) and the Executive (through policies) must take action to encourage telecommunications companies to float their shares in Nigeria’s stock market.

13. The Fiscal Responsibility Act should be used to encourage States and Local Govenrments to be more prudent and accountable in their revenue and expenditure agreements.

14. Cases involving unaccounted oil exports should be pursued vigorously to logical conclusions.

15. The Federal Government should immediately set-up an ad-hoc committee for the reconstruction of the North-East and the rehabilitation and resettlement of all Internally Displaced Persons.

16. The President should consider establishing a Council of Economic Advisers made up of experts in economic management.

17. The Federal Government should establish a platform for pro-business-oriented leadership-level engagement to boost market confidence.

18. The Federal Government should retool its export promotion policy scheme with export incentives like the Export Expansion Grant (EEG) and the export financing initiatives.

19. The National Assembly will institute a legislative framework with timelines for key government policies in the area of agriculture and solid minerals to boost investor confidence in government - and to protect investors from rapid policy reversals.

The National Assembly will examine, prioritise and fast-track the consideration of the following bills to revive Nigeria’s economy:

-Petroleum Industry Bill
-National Development Bank of Nigeria (Establishment) Bill
-Nigerian Ports and Habours Authority Act (Amendment) Bill

20. The National Assembly will immediately commence sustained oversight to monitor the activities of the Executive in the implementation of the 2016 Budget.

21. The National Assembly will continue to engage the Executive to create the necessary synergy on all economic and social interventions that are capable of bringing succour to Nigeria.

Politics / Re: Release Ex-katsina Governor Shema Or Charge Him To Court, Fayose Tells EFCC by NairaandNigeria: 3:37pm On Sep 29, 2016
sarrki:
By Rotimi Ojomoyela Ado-Ekiti-Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has faulted the continuous detention of the immediate past Governor of Katsina State, Ibrahim Shema by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), describing it as further demonstration of the anti-graft agency’s lack of respect for the fundamental rights of Nigerians as provided by the country’s 1999 constitution.

Fayose said, “EFCC should release him immediately or charge him to court if there is any evidence of corruption against him rather than acting as if it is law unto itself.” Fayose, who decried the continuous reign of impunity by the EFCC, noted that; “It is on record that former governor Ibrahim Shema reported at the EFCC office in Abuja by himself on September 16 and 12 days after, he is still being detained by the EFCC and one cannot but ask where EFCC derived its powers to first arrest Nigerians, detain them and be searching for evidences to prosecute them later.

” According to the governor’s Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, “In saner climes, anti-corruption agencies will only arrest suspects after prima facie case had been established against them and they are charged to court almost immediately, unlike the Nigeria’s EFCC that will arrest suspects and detain them indefinitely while looking for evidences to prosecute them.

Funny enough, the EFCC will even expect the suspects to supply evidences with which they will be prosecuted.” The governor asked; “Hope former governor Shema’s incarceration is not because of his perceived presidential ambition?” He said if former governor Shema was being held on the strength of the petition written by the APC government of Katsina State, the anti-corruption agency must also tell Nigerians what happened to the several petitions written against APC leaders, especially former governors, who left office in 2015 like Shema. The governor said; “it is unfortunate that a man like Shema, who did exceedingly well as Katsina State governor and even left over N3 billion in the state’s treasury is now being humiliated ostensibly for political reasons.

“By declaring former governor Shema wanted, it presupposes that EFCC already had water-tight evidences against him and one wonders why he is still being kept in detention 12 days after he made himself available to the commission.

“In the interest of democracy, rule of law and well-being of Nigerians, this continuous use of EFCC to humiliate and oppress those perceived as threat to the All Progressives Congress (APC) hold on power beyond 2019 must stop and. “Arresting, incarceration and humiliation of notable opposition figures by the EFCC will not translate to success of the APC government and those who want President Mohammadu Buhari to succeed should let him know this.

” While reiterating his call to the international community to pay attention to the abuse of rights of Nigerians by the EFCC, Governor Fayose said; “the EFCC must change this brutish strategy and style and put the rights of Nigerians first.”

The anti-fraud unit of the ING Bank has distanced itself from a document alleging that Abdulmumin Jibrin owns £1.558m in UK.

The bank, in an email sent to Adenike Lucas, the spokesperson of the UK chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said the document is fake.

According to the anti-fraud team of the bank, “We are sure that the statement is fake as previously advised.”

Lucas, in an email sent to Pulse News, said further investigation showed that Jibrin is not the owner of the alleged property on 453 Cranbrook Road, Ilford Essex. IG2 6EW.

BuariCopyPaste:
LAGOS—A group of human rights activists under the aegis of Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice, CHRSJ, has supportedt the open protest slated for Friday this week by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, against the continued detention of their leader, Comrade Nnamdi Kanu, by the Federal Government under President Muhamadu Buhari’s watch, saying that the detention of Kanu was illegal and unconstitutional.

It will be recalled that the IPOB, through its spokesperson on Monday, has enjoined the Igbo people and all those who believed in the Biafra ideology in the country to sit-at-home and shutdown their businesses on Friday, September 23, in protest over illegal continued detention of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

The activists were drawn from: The Christian Awareness Mission Group, CAMG; Passengers Fundamental Rights Group PATRGIA;The Islamic Political Awareness Group, TIPAG; Centre for Social Justice and Equity of Nigeria, ESJEN; Civil Societies Coalition for the Emancipation of Osun State, CSCEOS; Veteran Groups for Operation Clean Crusade, VGOCC; Apata-Aiyeraye Social Political Volunteer Group, ASPVG; De-Mainstream Independent Group, DMIG; and Coalition Against Illegal Arrest & Unlawful Detention, CAIA&UD.
Others were: Centre for Constitutional Rights and Counter Corruption Crusader; Save Lagos Group, SLG; The ConscienceMainstream, TCM; African Masses Voices for Survival, AMVS; The Christians Youths for the Peoples’ Rights and Development, CYPRD; Islamic Movement for Muslims’ Rights, IMMR; Divine Nigerians Liberators for Peoples’ Fundamental Rights, DNLPFR; and The Christians Volunteers Groups for Good Governance in Nigeria, TCVGGGN.

Speaking on behalf of the group, its Coordinating leader, Comrade Adeniyi, Alimi Sulaiman, in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday, declared their total support for the proposed peaceful protest to be embarked upon by the members of the IPOB, in pressurizing for their home demand, demanding unconditional release of Biafra Radio Director (Kanu) from the custody of Federal Government.

It strongly condemned the illegal continued detention of Kanu, which it stated that was against the principles of democracy that gives the citizens freedom to assemble and express his or her opinion without any hindrance, showing concern on what it may happen on the continued detention of Biafra leader. It then called on, all lovers of democracy in Nigeria and Diaspora to guide against using brute force of despotic days of military era on the innocent citizens of the country by Buhari’s government, describing the proposed protest as welcome development in right direction.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Brazil’s President, Dilma Rousseff, Impeached For Manipulating Budget by NairaandNigeria: 7:24pm On Aug 31, 2016
kahal29:
Brazil’s Senate has removed President Dilma Rousseff from office for manipulating the budget. Sixty-one Senators against 20 voted in favour of the impeachment Wednesday.

Ms Rousseff was suspended in May after the Senate voted to go ahead with the impeachment process. Brazil’s lawmakers accused her of re-assigning funds between budget items.

Her critics said she was trying to plug deficit holes in popular social programmes to boost her chances of being re-elected for a second term in October 2014, reports the BBC.

Ms Rousseff said she did nothing wrong, and called the attempt to remove her a coup d’etat. Her impeachment puts an end to 13 years in power of her Workers’ Party.

Acting President Michel Temer will serve out her term, which ends on 1 January 2019.

The reverse should be the case in Nigeria. President should suspend our senators for padding the budget.
