The thin line between morally and legally. ..... legally on your side . it may not be wrong however on the other side the receiving person can be said to plagiarise your work and that can have consequences depending on the school...so just tread carefully and make sure you cover urself in the quest for money. .....such cover can be you both sit and work on the assignment (that way its both of u work even if technically u are the main driver , like the way some artist change one word in a song and then claim ownership)..... instead of u doing it alone and sending it via " traceable trail" .....

Dont forget the Chinese cheating scandal is still fresh in the air

Actually the first assignment was done by them, and they brought it to my tutorial class with them and we could not do any course work only correcting and re writing for both of them, so we end up staying up very late and that means more hour for me. So they are of the opinion that i should do it in points and give them to develop on it if need be and they pay $40 each. since they will still bring it back for further corrections before submission. Currently the nature of our assignments are in such a way that everyone has a research article or report or news article to develop or do abstract on it. So no two persons is doing same work. But forsha am treading carefully. Thanks

@Cariza, the lord is your strength. I understand what you must have been through. I lost my younger brother, a brilliant smart chap just out off the academy to those bastards over two years ago so i know how you feel. Stay strong and move on. Naija Sha....

Today marks exactly a month i left the shores of Nigeria... Left a lot behind for a better life for myself and family and i must say so far so good, God has been faithful. I got to the US with virtually nothing, home and abroad. But today, I'm almost done with paying my fees and am doing fairly well under a very tight budget. To all intending scholars, believe in God and work hard to make your dream a reality. Its not easy out here, but its worth it. With proper planning and God by your side, u all will scale through IJN.

I gave my first week transcript here, and this is my one month transcript. After my first week in the USA, i registered for classes (11 credit) and the bill sent to me the following day. Was expecting a bill of $5.5k having a scholarship of $3.5, but to my surprise got over $11k bill. After deducting my part scholarship, i was left a bill close to $8k. But through well wishers, assistantship job i got(19hrs 45mins at the rate of 12$ per hour) and a side job(coaching Arab students (2) in my class that are finding it difficult to follow up with the courses we are taking this semester at the rate of $20 per hour for 12hrs a week), i was able to reduce my bill to $2k. I've till Oct 12th to complete it before late fee charges will apply, but i believe even if i didn't pay it up by that time, i will do so before final week of classes.

Now how do i survive? Na still God. But to be honest i've been very frugal and disciplined. my rent is $200( I virtually search and search before i got this. the normal rate around is $300) and i scope the landlord to allow me stay without depositing for security fee, and he accepted. The room has most things, left behind by the last occupant including bed, table, chair, cabinet and some other stuff. so i didn't buy anything i just move in. i actually made the landlord called the last occupant to tell him that someone is taking the room and will be using his stuffs and the person agreed. Also, for the first month, utilities wasn't so bad and we are 5 sharing it, so i pay less than $25. The house is quite old, but its serving its purpose and its just 2mins walk to where i have all my classes and not far from where most stores are located meaning i do a lot of walking around, though i don't know how easy that will be during the winter, but am making friends with quite alot of people that has been giving me rides to places of recent. Hopefully they will be handy during the winter. I get free internet access courtesy my super cute American neighbors living upstairs. got a very cheap phone of $12 just for calls and i do only limited minutes and text messages. Thanks to whatsapp and other calling apps

Now, why am i saying all this, if you believe in God and in yourself, and you have dream of coming to America, pls work hard to make it happen. And when you get here, pls dont stop working hard and believing in God. I met a naija boy here from ekiti by birth but brought up in Surulere (Aguda), he left lagos when he was 16yrs old. Things went wrong with his folks along the way and they couldn't make it after a year of his study, the boy is now in his 3rd yrs (supposed to be a senior but left school for a year due to hardship but he is back and doing well this semester) all by himself with little or no support from his folks back home. He's into street, but then, he must survive and thats exactly what he's doing- surviving. he does undertable jobs and run errands in addition to official school job. I always advise him to keep his head up, stay focus and get his kpale. he's just 20 now and hopefully he will be through in 2yrs because he's very determine. Things might be rough, but determination is the key.

Personally, i be guy way like flexing, but since i enter this town, i never enter one bar. why? because i know wetin carry me come here. My neighbors do offer to take me out on weekends, but i need that time to prepare to coach my Arab boys for the money. I cook like once every two weeks, infact since i came ive cooked only on two days, but on those days, i make sure i cook what will last me atleast 10days or more. Bread for sandwich always dey on standby. ALDI is close to me, so i get my milk and bread there. when free, i attend farmers market for veggies and other things i will need.

So please come one, come all if you can.. lol. My case might be different from yours, but believe me, if you know what you are doing, and have little support from folks and love once back home, you will survive. Worst case scenario, u enter street, do the needful. Its still (or might still be) a better life than what you'll probably get back home (that's by the way an advice for last resort). In the end, you will look back and tell yourself after all i gave it a trial. As it is always said, when its all said and done, the things you regret most are the things you dream of doing but couldn't do than the things you try and fail.

P.S. Is it crime to do assignment for person? Its all for the money oh.

Wow!!!Fastest growing thread on Nairaland .My testimony once again while trying to make it as short and concise as possible. It had always been my dream to study in the USA. I landed in USA August 5th 2016.
But this USA dream officially started in 2012 after I graduated from the Uni.
I enrolled for IELTS.
it was now time for me to evaluate my transcript but you won't believe that my prestigious Uni was telling me that my transcript was nowhere to be found and that it was missing. Hnmmmmmmmmm immediately I heard that, I tried conserving my energy by first swallowing spit spontaneously such as you would expect in an endothermic reaction. about seven months passed by and my transcript was still nowhere to be found then I became ' mad'. It was really frustrating all which I explained to God......after which I called a family lawyer who in turn wrote my school giving them a deadline if not they would have to appear in court.( Mind you I had my bsc certificate, statement of result) but they couldn't just find my transcript). To cut the long story short, I got my transcript the second day the letter got to them at the Senate. It was God alone.
fast forwarded
I evaluated my transcript applied to my school and I got admission. During my application to my school, I met Dannybrown19 on here who also happened to be in my school and that was how I met him...
on Nairaland...... he assisted me with so many things the payment of my sevis.... my housing application etc
above all... I was in his house with one other Nigerian guy for weeks sleeping, eating, browsing for FREE....Mind you he left the comfort of his bedroom for me he was staying in the sitting room all through those times..he put us through most things.... got an on campus job for us etc.
Not only that, he was carrying us out in his car to do some basic settling down.... all for free.
You people should please tell him thank you and God bless him on my behalf. ( If you no know anybody for where you dey go.) abeg carry money.
When I left Danny's house and got an appartment, I had to call a cab to most places that I went to which cost me $5 per route ... then I realised how much I would have spent if I had been carrying cab all these while.
Fastforwarded again..
The next day I came to USA I went to see one of my professors who had earlier given me a little tuition waiver but after our conversation I realised that was the only thing he could offer at that time.
The following week the man called myself and one other Nigerian guy, he offered us 1/4 GA. ( which means five hours/ week and it won't reduce our tuition)
We go dey teach one undergraduate class but the money dey very small as we no get choice we had to collect it with all our might and thanked him.

FINANCES.. I reserve my comments....
But what I realised was, in my school, you could set up an installmental payment to pay the first semester.. paying it like three times. Mind you I'm not encouraging you to come without money likewise you dont have to be in """Dangote's"""" lineage to study in the USA. At least my surname and others I've seen here is not ""Dangote''''.
Above all I give God all the glory, thanks and adoration to Him alone be all praises.
Thank you and God bless you..

Nice one meekandholy pls do drop by once in a while on the thread to share experience. Danny you are the Man. God Bless u. I also met a Nigeria here... A girl sha. I virtually paid for everything for the 10 days I spent with her. including Internet and utilities. But I know we can do better. Thanks Danny for your support to your compatriots.

Just want to take this time to appreciate some persons on this thread. Over 90% of fall2016 successful applicants that are in the USA now have abandon this thread. I personally think that's very wrong and it ought not to be so. Even if it's tight acdemic schedules or economic/financial issues, sharing them here will help some persons in the future. Where ell those enthusiastic fall applicants that gained a lot from this thread? Immediately them entre US them bone the thread. Your stories will motivate future applicants. I know time is of the essence and we all learn in different way with different learning capacity but so far as am concern even with work and study one can still spare time to come here and drop something inspiring. To this end I want to appreciate couple of persons that have ensure that there's still flavour on this thread... Respect to Lagosismyhome, imperiouxx, bilkeys, warriboy, slimmy, MsNas, and to all those who take out time to drop something on this thread whenever they see the need to do so.

The second category of people I want to appreciate are those fall applicants that still find time to come here despite the busy schedule of their various programs here in the US. Believe you me your stories will move someone here tomorrow... Someone story brought you... so let's keep the good work. In all sincerity I want to send a big shout out to oludare, Dickoflife, sureboy, and all other fall2016 applicants that still adds quality to this thread. Abeg way fortissimo, meekandholy, purplesummer, and all those that benefited in one way or the other from this thread? share something... I tell you it will inspire someone someday. God bless you all. Use the library. You can checkout books for the whole semester. If you can't get the books in your school library, ask about interlibrary loans from other schools. Have a great Fall.

I don't know if this is the case with other schools, but in UW System, text books charges are added to your total bill so at the beginning of semester, you can just check out all your textbooks and return them at the end of the semester.

My travel transcript and 1st one week experience

Against all odds, I started my journey on the 17th of Aug. from PHC to Gidi. It was safe and smooth. I sha cried the morning I left my family. It wasn’t easy. The emotional pain and breakdown, took away all the excitement that was supposed to be associated with my trip. I for change my mind oh… but when I remember the direction naija dey go, I sha move on. My int’l flight was scheduled for the following day 17:55hrs. So had a good night rest but woke up quite early to have a chat with my host. He was educating me on how to survive should things go astray. Me sha just listen because I know say God is in control. After our discussion, I hurriedly rush down to computer village to fix my phone that fell into water and stopped working. Unfortunately for me, that was on a Thursday and Computer Village won’t open till 10am. I sha say make I move around Ikeja till 10am. Around few minutes to 10, I enter the market to go give the guy that will fix the phone and gave him the fone. The guy promised to fix it in an hour but hold and behold I dey there till almost 3pm. To cut long story short, I almost missed my flight and I didn’t get the fone fixed. Due to my lateness, na so everybody from the police at the entrance to the last checkpoint where tickets where checked before boarding took advantage of my situation and siphoned almost 15k from me including few lower denomination dollar notes. It was an emirate flight, and the flight to dubai was great the ICE was superb. Got to dubai around 4am, had about 4hours lay over and proceed to board for our Boston flight. The plane to Boston was not as new as that to dubai from lagos. Though the later had Wi-fi on board. I paid one dollar to get connected. Na so I use facebook call and whatsapp call talked to all my loved ones over and over again. Some knew about the feature (wi-fi on plane), while some dey doubt say na lie. Me sha no get time to argue with them. Did video call to some to confirm it.

Fast forward to POE, nothing unusual other than the normal greeting and biometrics with few questions like what program are you going for, I told her. It was followed by what this program will do for you, told her am already working in that field back home, and acquiring American education will expedite my career growth on return to my country. She sha ask me again say since I dey work, why my uncle dey follow sponsor me? I tell her say it’s a family age long tradition for family members to help and assist other family members in pursuit of career goals and dreams. She sha keep quite. At this time another Nairalander (don4ye) was called back after his PoE interview. But luckily nothing much, he was cleared and we both proceed to claim our baggage and find our way to our various boarding gates. Me and Don4ye sha depart from there. But I met another Guy going to Michigan Tech. So we both took the same connecting flight to Chicago while don4ye proceed to JFK.
Meanwhile the screening for boston no me here oh… Omo the TSA guy almost naked me oh. May be na because of the beards I kept (I’ve since shaved them off). Him later free me sha. So at BOS int’l airport our flight to Chicago ORD was delayed while waiting na so all the plenty things way I eat for plane come start to react together oh and the product of the reaction is better I keep it out of this transcript, because the tin nearly raise alarm for the airport. The white guy sitting near me think say I carry ammonia gas for my bum bum. The guy nearly go report me oh… him sha just change seat. Luckily after a few minutes of delay, we were called to board. Flight was about 2hrs or so. It was cool and safe. Good on board entertainment with on-board Wi-Fi. But I seriously doubt if it was comfortable for the lady sitting beside me. If the plane windows were openable, the lady for open them. I release no be small…. lol

Meanwhile prior to now, I heard already booked another flight to MSP Minneapolis from chicago with Evil SPIRIT airlines. Please oh for those still coming, no near that airline oh if u carry load. I had 2 big boxes totalling 45Kg, carry on box weighing less than 8kg and my laptop. Could you believe that I paid X5 of what I paid for my ticket for the luggage? My ticket was $33, na wetin them use catch me. Because I booked online I was like its so cheap for an 1hr30mins flight. Guys The EVIL Spirirt airline charge me $50 for the first box, $62 for the second and $55 for the carry on. That’s not all oh. Their limit is 20kg par box, so they say I should still pay $50 for the extra 5kg for my 2 boxes. Na so I quickly transfer things to my carry on box and laptop bag. I even got this prices because I paid for my luggage online when I found out that I would’ve paid more if I’m to pay at the point of checking in. PLS IN THE NAME OF EVERYTHING GOOD, AVOID THAT AIRLINE FOR YOUR CONNECTING FLIGHT IF YOU CARRY LUGGAGE. They are good for light travellers. If I had known, I for just jejely go find bus entre, pay like $100 for everything. I nearly forgo the $33 paid for the flight for bus, but after considering my luggage ( To use cart sef na $5) and the stress of moving the luggage around, I decided to follow them.

Fast forward to my final destination, I called my contact, a Nigerian girl that graduated from the school but currently on OPT to pick me up. She did come pick me up and took me home. Na so we unbag all the plenty things I carry oh. I later left her with them and went to sleep. Slept for like 14hrs, was really really tired. The previous night at Chicago airport was not funny at all. Couldn’t sleep for more than 3hrs because of the cold (AC), I had to go outside the airport and had a short sleep by the street side. The next day the lady woke me up that we should go to Walmart to do my shopping, i reluctantly followed her there. With her help, I was able to go around town and do more shopping. Took me as far as 25miles for shopping try to help me get the best tins at the lowest prices. We got home a bit late, i made okro soup and she made chicken stew, we ate and talked plenty things about naija. Told her naija is something else this days. She said she’s trying to get her people over here to join her. But she didn’t really know how to go about it as she didn’t do hers by herself. I sha ask her to tell her people to join the US thread on nairaland and I will do my best to guide them in the little ways I can. After all that we watched movies and slept off.

The next day morning I went out to make breakfast, and she came out to join me. After greeting, she said she will like to have a brief word with me and I said ok. Quickly fixed my breakfast and went to join her in the sitting room. Omo na so the girl list out every expenses for the house oh ie Rent, water, energy, heat, cabletv and internet. Everything over $1400 and she said energy varies. I was like sisi sorry oh, you dey work, me come to school on a very tight budget. To be fair to you I promise to live with you before coming but u never told me of all this expenses and what you pay on rent. I sha tell her say my levels no fit cope with that bill say I have to find a cheaper place or she adjust the bill and take out some things like cable and internet (I no send them for now) I can use free school internet. Na so sisi para oh… say if that’s the case, I will pay for the days I will stay before getting my place. I told her no problem. Hopefully before next week I will move out. As I’ve already seen a place for $250. Beside the house is very far from school. Though she promise to drop me or leave her car for me most times, but how long will that be? I really appreciate her for a help and welcoming me, but honestly I didn’t xpect this from a Nigerian… at least not this early. Funniest thing of all is that this same person is a benefactor of this same circumstances in her time.

As par my school, orientation dey start next week, while lectures dey start upper week but I don start my course registration. Am supposed to take only 9 credit unit, but am taking 11 cos of my background. The school is quite cool. Plenty Jobs. Job listings on our career link is almost 18 pages. Since yesterday I don dey apply, I still dey apply from GAs to oncampus factory jobs with wage ranging from $7.5 to $15 per hour. The school is in a small town of a population less than 20k mainly whites (over 95%). The director of international Students has been so nice to me. According to her, she said in the 80’s there where over 100 Nigerian students that studied there and they were all of good conduct. Some just left as recently as last year as professors. I’ve also seen a Ghanaian, Cameroonian, south Sudanese and South African. The hustle is still on…
By the way, I don start to cut my hair by myself oh… but just yesterday I say a saloon advertising $10 for a cut. May be I will go there after every 2month.

Please oh MsNas, imperiouxxx, warriboy21, lagosismyhome (nice lady),slimmy2005, amanze15, aadeyi, Ojap, SirRiddy, Sureb0y, Dickoflife, halidaf, biikeys, deetus and all the babas them, how person fit use get more than a job? If the first job is not upto 20hrs a week. Is it lawful to do 2 or more jobs as a student?

Where do I even start from, graduated since 2011 with a 2.1. Degree in Mathematics, just finished MSC from UI but didn't feel like I have gotten what I need.

I wish to apply for MS Actuarial science in any US University, plz guys can you recommend any cheap school you know of there to me?where I can also get T.A position, my CGPA is 4.22.
I'm rilli counting on you guys please, I don't want to waste another one year again.

Tnx in advance

CC: all the good guys and ladies here, plz help a fellow

Your profile look quite good. The cgpa you gave is it ur undergraduate cgpa or masters? anyway either way, with a good GRE score and personal statement or statement of purpose, and strong LOR you can get a full ride PHD program. I suggest you go for that. You will however need to do a lot of research on the net using Google and Co. I believe as a mathematician with MSc this won't be much of a problem to you. IRO the one more year u don't want to waste, I'm afraid you'll have to use that one year for preparation, write your GRE and ace it, evaluate your transcripts, and find good schools to apply for fall 2017. I can assure you of the TA you are looking for if you do all that I've stated. In between the processes, you Can always come here to seek for assistance if you encounter any problem and the gurus in the family will see u through it.
