You're completely missing the point of my previous statement. I was trying to say that most people bring up handling and drive feel of the Mercs they drive when their specific models aren't designed for handling and aren't particularly known for that.

I wasn't trying to disparage anyone's choice of cars, and my apologies if that was the vibe I gave off.

My point is, anyone could be driving an S Class, but they still really shouldn't n't be able to talk about handling. Those cars weren't designed with that in mind. An E46 330i would still outhandle and provide a more thrilling, raw driving experience than the S Class.

Do you get my point now?

Yeah i do but it didnt come out right.Anyways let us relish with what we've got. When we get the AMG the relishing continues....BENZ or nothing

Ask him how much for the gear oil because if you put this in your 7G Tronic gear, the consequences will be dire. This oil pic you posted is actually for power steering.

When I saw this thread early this morning, I thought the OP created it for meaningful discussion as an adult, but unfortunately he derailed the thread out of childish act.

I don't know why people like you like taking painkillers over another man's headache! If you love Toyota stick to it in peace and stop forcing or bashing people to buy what you love.

I bought several German cars before, BMW 2009 E91, Audi A4 2000 model, and driving my 6th Benz which is C200 Kompressor 2004 model and am cool with it, on Thursday I drove a friend's 2010 ES350 Lexus and the handling couldn't stand my then 2002 A160 Benz.

In nut shell OP, what works Taye might not work for Kehinde, it is not your money and your sweat, and the maintenance is not coming from your purse, so why the ranting over minor issues?

I tot u will even say u will start buying new cars, tokunbo cars are second hand vehicles.
You don't know what the cars have been through forget that Vin report u believe so much in. Most of the reports are not comprehensive enough or doctored to place more value on the second vehicles.
If you don't know most people in Europe and America where you get ur tokunbo cars from don't know much about vehicles, maintenance or how it works.
Go to YouTube, you will see videos of white people trying to pour in diesel in a petrol car, or petrol in a diesel.
I saw one where a white lady took her electric car to refuel in a gas station.

The truth most people won't tell you is that in grading engine oils winter climates are considered first before tropical regions.
Let me also let u know that the bigger challenge we have here is bad fuel....there is no where in Nigeria that you can get 100% unadulterated petrol. Maybe u will also import ur petrol.
Bad fuel is a vehicles no 1 enemy, its worse than bad oil.
Whatever you think you are doing right you will eventually need another car tomorrow. So why spend a fortune on a vehicle that u will eventually replace?
Bros please don't be angry ,I have a question? If the people abroad had this mentality, would you see tokunbo cars to buy?

Hello Awalla, before you start changing expensive things, though i would not doubt your electrician(because it is his profession) know the following things first:

When there is no signal between your radiator fan and the ECU/ECM your fan will start spinning in high mode as the default in order to prevent overheat until the fan itself will burn out overtime if not fixed.

You should rather ask why there is no signal between your ECU/ECM with your radiator fan control module:
i)Well, it could be a very simple and cheap thing like your coolant temperature sensor(you could find a good one to test before
replacing it.
this is usually the commonest unknown factor here)
ii)It could be a fuse or relay , if your relay is stuck up it may behave the same way, but i don't thing this is your case, though it is not bad to
check your fan relay or fuse as it will cost you nothing to do that.
iii)It could also be that your relay on the fan is stuck on high speed , in this case the fan would have to be changed as the control module and
fan are sold together. Most time people spend this kind of money changing the fan but the problem still persist to tell you that it was not
the culprit. My candid advice to you is to test (i) above before your change your ecm, i believe that's what your electrician mean by fan
board, as bad ecm can also cause this but first check link between the ecm and the radiator fan , that is the coolant temperature sensor
and the wiring along this part. I hope this will help you.

Thanks Bro. I am always glad to help those i can whose mind are willing to accept, because you could spend fortune in solving problems that shouldn't even have occurred in the first place if adhered to simple instructions.

Amen! and bless you too. The rack cost about 85k over here , but simple fix on the seal(its the seal that usually leaks) in the rack by a good techi could cost just 6k. but be mindful of the pump too , inspect to fix as well if it is leaking , else you will just be going through the cycle of fixing rack/pump every now and then. Check my previous post. The pump cost about 15k, not really sure.

My brother , a stitch in time saves nine. Thank God that MB engine could stand all these stuffs thrown at them , of cause , VW and Kia, Hyundae, etc may not be able to do so, hence engine swap now and then . Haven't you wonder why we are fun of engine swap? I have never changed any of my Benz's engine. Those things are suppose to run a lifetime of the car, if not for the use of wrong oil viscosity.

Higher oil viscosity have higher frictional level, hence higher drag coefficient , the effect may not happen immediately but over time, in some cars it does happen sooner than expected. The higher oil viscosity than the manufacturers prescription, the oil may not be able to penetrate the tiny crevices of the crankcase easily hence, your guess is as good as mind when practice continuously over time. Your qualified mech can not be more qualified than the car manufacturers. Some years ago VW owners learnt this in a hard way.

Do one simple experiment, at same level of operation try your 20w40 observe your rpm and drag coefficient at take off and at normal drive , flush it out and use any w40 and try same experiment come and honestly tell us your feel as in drag coefficient at take off and at normal drive and your mpg.

If your manufactures says that you should use 10W40 pls do it that way and stick to it as oil swap in itself is not also good too as it has tendencies of burning up the oils, it doesn't matter if you bought it too cheap. But if you don't have the money to go synthetic way, and you don't want to neither spend that kind of money too you can still use the mineral oil as modern oil has all additives and minerals compound to clean up your engine and keep them well, but you must remain within the confinement of the viscosity and make sure you change them as at when due(3 months or 3000km,which ever that comes first) it is even more saver to go short intervals with this oil and change them as at when due than to go so long as one year, even when the oils is dead black due to our dirty environment as in the name of synthetic. But you must obey the rule of the viscosity else you are killing that engine slowly for the next buyer.

If your manufacturer says 10 w40, 5 w40, for synthetic, you may hack mineral oil for w40 like Total classic SAE40 etc and stick to it, but not 20w50 of even an heavenly brand. This oil stuff has been overflogged , we should have graduated from it by now.

Meanwhile, in the long run the so viewed synthetic oil as in cost is even cheaper to run than the mineral oil. Do your calculation give us the findings.

I will find you,i will sit with you and eat roasted yam and fish at Elakahia, someday soon

The manufacture recommended 5w20 for that car .. You dey use 20w50. So I guess u know a lot better than than manufacture.. Smh ...#get the strap# if a knowledgeable buyer hears that, the person will never buy that car .. I wish I believe u .. So that civic is still running strong... people like you are the ones that wrecked my uber cars .. Due to the use of wrong engine oil .. People like you are the reasons that I started importing oil ... so basically it means that you will still use 20w50 on a 2018 brand new civic.. Smh ... thank God I have the means to bring in tokunbo cars .. Personally I will never, never ,ever buy naija used cars ..due to the maintenence culture of people like you and Nigerians as whole .. I always advice people when it comes to oil always follow the manufacture advice.
Example below is the ATF for a 2013 Hyundai Genesis for a client of mine. He could have use any ATF ,but he follows the manufacture advice to use the correct fluid.. Those transmission of those cars cost a fortune.. People try and read your owners manual.. It will save you cost and headache in the long run

Comprehension is key dru.I said "i have used" in the past. All these your "people like you", the Honda in question i didnt state the year,i mentioned seven years you assumed (Honda Accord 1996 recommends 5w30).I have been importing synthetic oils long before you learnt how to drive.Guy slow down i dont like throwing shades but some of us have tayed in this game.No let internet deceive you.We were in the biz before cybercafe got to this country.

If u like use 0w20 my XHP gets the job done well with enough change to spare.
I wonder why u r not recommending 5w30 Mobil 1 to him since its the approved oil by Benz.
Why are u not recommending Benz battery or Benz coolant?
Bros no vex i no like quarrel,na oil the guy ask of.besides lets open your engine and inspect for sludge,I have used 20W50 for 7 years on a honda and serviced every 2 months, the engine didnt knock but what about compression?economy? wear?so much to mention just a few...he can use 5w30 too but i prefer the 5w40 haven used both

Be weary of the counsel of ahithophel...what A feels is working which actually isnt..might be disastrous for B.Total Synthetic 5w40,Castrol 5w40,Liqui Moly 5w40 are a few great oils for your engine

This engine doesn't have any issue but expensive to buy unlike the c240 and the c320, if you mean the c180 kompressor? though its much more economical than the c240 and c320 that carries 12 plugs and 6 coils, pwhereas it carries just 4 plugs.

You will certainly have a lot of mind blowing issues if you are careless and does not stick to the rules:
1.Dont swim water with it to avoid hydrolog because the kompressor hoes faces downwards and can suck water easily unlike the c240 and c320.

2.use the correct transmission fluid , mercedes benz fluid for lasting and durable transmission. It has a very strong tranny system. If you may use any other like the ATF dextronIII though not recommended, make sure you change it before 100000miles of usage, that's the hacks for poor guys.
else you are on your own.

3. Make sure too you use the recommended oil, common here is mobil 1 10w40 or any other 10 w40 for synthetic oil change but not 20w50 oils etc. if for any reason you may wish to use non synthetic oil, make sure is something in the range of SAE 40 like total classic SAE40 and flush it on or before 3000 miles or 3 month, which ever that comes first, that is another hack(Reason being that these modern oils have all the additives and minearals components needed to clean and maintain the engines if you stick to the recommended weight, not w50 pls. I don expect any support here because many don't know this. It is saver to do this for 3 months than to run mobil 1 for 1 year in an old car like this. I expect a lot of argument here but that does not change the fact) Note please that the timing is de factor.

4. make sure you use the right coolant for the sake of your engine and transmission because the coolant runs through the transmission as well to keep it cool . Anything above 0.3 volt when measured with a multimeter in your coolant bay positive and negative terminals dip inside the coolant there should not be used , because it kills the system over time. I strongly recommend for a good practice that you stick to the Mercedes Benz coolant and flush it after every 200000 miles , this may take like 7 yrs or there about depending on your driving habit. And MB coolant will read about 0.01v to 0.09v which is very good incase you buy fake.

5, use the recommended fluid for your cooling system too and you will really enjoy this car. .Thats is much i can remember

Also, if you can use platinum plugs, not necessary per say, though this could last you for 7 years. and clean your throttle body , MAF with MAF cleaner and your air filter regularly to keep up with the power as you may always be using our normal fuel(non premium fuel) so that you may continue enjoying your car without lose of power and other limitations that those who don't know experiences all the time. With these you will hardly be visiting the garages

One of the most educative, informative and enlightening post here in a long time.Long time bro i missed ur contributions. One PH guy with lots of brain.
