I have been using synthetic in a 2003 model car for over 4yrs now. No issues. Using same in a 2005 vehicle for 9yrs now. No issue. What I know is that once you use synthetic in an engine tgat has formed sludge, kiss it good bye.

Leave that man with his postulation. I have been using synthetic on a 1996 vehicle for 20 years no issues.

Chairman of the workshop was telling me to use 20w50 that it will stop. I just ignored.

My car engine is making a rattling/ sparking noise like ke ke ke ke when accelerating sometimes when climbing a hill or when you suddenly press the acceleration to increase speed .

I have changed the plugs, what can be the issue. I use a C300 MB 2010

Aswear i know this sound and can relate 100%. Try use thicker oil weight it would go away. I used ceratec and mine went away.

Good day everyone, this is my first comment on any thread for years on nairaland I want to appreciate the contributors to this thread as it's my favorite in the car talk section.

I have a question I want to ask, people say that the w205 c300 is not suitable in Nigeria due to hydolock issues caused by lack of premium fuel. I see a lot of C300 around recently, how do they cope with the fuel?

I heard some add lead booster,how often are they supposed to do so? and is the c300 reliable in this country if maintained properly?

Or is someone just expected to go with the C400 if none of the issues can be solved?

At every fill up, meaning you should allow yor fuel gauage get to the quarter mark.For me in 5 years my guage has never reached that mark(cannot come and be having fuel pump issues anyhow). Meanwhile i know someone with a similar type of engine that always adds that octane booster. The day the cousin took the car out and fueled without adding the booster , that was the day the engine had issue( maybe that is what you are referring to as hydrolock).

One day someone called me that he was at a fuel station and saw a guy in a BMW X6 popped open his trunk and pick a can of liqui moly injector cleaner from a carton before refuelling.

Anyways las las you will be alright , get the W205 if its what you desire.

Liqui Moly Top Tec ATF 1800 about 8k per litre...Your transmission takes 9 litres since you are not draining Torque about 5 to 6 litres should do it.

You dug this up from how many years ago?Ask gazzus if he still has spacers....you use it in place of O2 sensors to deceive the ECU that Catalyst is present.

Opened my front fuse box and saw water in it. My electrician is far from me but told me to remove the brain box and put it under d sun to dry up, and I plan on loosing the fuse box as well to dry up properly

Just budget to buy another ECU and get a panel to through your drain ducts else if it rains again it will damage your ECU. Avoid parking where water from the roof falls directly on the car.

Okay to all my ogas in the house pls kindly assist as I've been having this issue with my car for almost 3 weeks now.

About 4-5months ago my key feel into a very deep gutter and after about 1hr of getting it out it corrupted the ignition and the brainbox shut down the car entirely.

Removed the ignition mouth took it to ladipo and a reprogram was done and car came back to life.

A month after car wouldn't start but after a while it will start until one Sunday when it didn't start at all. Kick start was replaced and car worked perfectly again.

Like 1 or 2 months after car won't start after putting it off but when another battery is used it starts well with just a single crank.

PS: Just a twist of the key on ignition my car usually start.

So, on this fateful night after clubbing to go home car didn't start... Lol used a friend's battery, no way!

Next morning my electrician came and as if he had a magical hands cars started without doing anything.

No no no!!! Oga how did you do it? Donut again. He did and car started what??!!

I did same, put it off and did same way he did, it started. Hmm!

We moved, and noticed gear wouldn't select very well. Hmm!

Now, this is the new starting technics, turn and hold key till car starts. The first few seconds of holding key you won't hear any cranking sound at all but after like 3-5 seconds it cranks and start and when you engage hear you'll hear a hit sound from the gear like it was forcefully put into gear. Instrument cluster will display error message (visit workshop) and the P sign would still display despite car in motion, gear won't exceed the 1st. No matter the distance covered.

But sometimes if car starts by just a single twist of the key everything works perfectly well, gear selects normally and the P changes immidately to R, N and D.

My electrician said it's my key, that I need to change it completely.
