Eldee is no longer a recording artist. From all indications, he's focusing on his startup company called PlayData. Sometimes you have to move on to the next big thing.
Eldee remains in the top 5 Nigerian rappers any day, though.
Anthony0094: You don't have to compare year 2000 with 2017 the gap is big You know the value of naira then. N86 purchasing power then and now are not the same. If dollar is sold N85 for one it will have a very big impact in Nigeria economy now
Yes, there's been inflation.
However, my point is - the dollar exchange rate will hardly improve the lives of Nigerians even if it becomes N86/$ today. Only 10 years ago, in 2007 it was N108/$.
It's not like Nigerians lived in affluence between 1960 - 1990, when the Naira was higher than, and later on par with the USD.
Don't forget N86 was the actual exchange rate in 2000. Poverty still ravaged Nigeria. 2 years before that, in 1993 - 1998 the exchange rate was N22/$. Poverty still ravaged Nigeria.
Here is a historical chart of the official NGN/USD rate from 1960 till today.
From when it was N1/$2 to its current N311/$.
note: The value of the Naira back in the 60s wasn't based on Nigeria's economy, but inherited directly from the British Pound after independence.
lanchy: Lie number 1 "WHAT'S YOUR DEBT PROFILE? Generally in America, if you don't have some debts especially credit cards, you don't qualify for certain things but that doesn't mean one should live on credit."
You need good credit rating based on servicing your bills and your savings NOT how much debt you have, in order to qualify for guess what....bigger credit! Why lend more money to a debtor as your have explained above, it makes more sense to target those that pay on time and have savings. Suddenly every villager knows more about obodo oyinbo! better than those living there!
This is something that has always baffled me each time I visit this site. People yelling "In America ehn.." but have no clue.
Sometimes I wonder if they're speaking about this one, or another one I don't know about.
Statsocial: Its all about funding. The University of Luxembourg is one year younger than CU(2003) and today is 174th best uni in the world. So I believe a Church capable of building a City should be able to fund its uni to top 100 at least. Secondly most Nigerian Universities coming from 5000 in 2011/2012 were aiming for top 1000 and today only UI managed to scale into 800+. Hence it's better CU aims for top 10 and fall to top 100 rather than aim for 1000. Finally the top 1000 goal was created for public universities in realization of limited funding. CU on the other hand is funded in a tripartite way, Tuition, Church and IGR(or Business) hence should live up to expectation.
Well put.
However, funding isn't everything. Priorities are. For instance, if with additional funding, they choose to buy a faculty professor a 2017 official SUV to replace a 2014 - BEFORE approving his research grant. Then priorities are messed up, and mediocrity thrives.
Or lavishing funds on a palatial University Senate building, while laboratories, research centers, libraries etc are of peasant standards. Unfortunately, the Nigeria I remember seems to operate that way.
While, it's sometimes beneficial to aim high and fail gracefully, this only works when a certain culture already exists. In the line of progress, pacing one's self more often leads to real measurable progress. As opposed to lofty goals announced for the sake of verbal grandstanding.
It clearly says they were given CCTV tools (only what's pictured). Not CCTV units. They are being offered "tools of the trade." Which is a good thing, but not what the thread title says.
Also, your conversion estimate puts the value of the USD at 539 NGN. Is the dollar really 539 in Nigeria now? That is insane. (I mean.. I certainly won't complain, but dayum!)
Both government inaction and individual greed of Nigerian traders are responsible for the spike. Some traders might experience a 10% increase in cost of procuring goods, but inflate the prices by 100%.
Vividly well, the song was produced to promote family planning, in line with IBB policy of max of 4 kids per family. Also to forestall pre mature marriage and unwanted pregnancy.
However it was after this song that rumours were stiff that it was King Sunny Ade that fathered Onyeka Owenu's son.
Good old days when a family can gather and watch Naija muzik video. You don't dear watch naija muzik videos in the presence of kids anymore. So sad
That's true. However, don't forget Blacky's Bang Belly and a few other similarly "sexy" videos came out the same period as this video.
Here is Bang Belly, with Ibinabo's sexy ass in that sexy bikini and more.
Also, collect any evidence you can. e.g secretly record a discussion with your former employer about the matter.
Reference their threat to "blackmail" you, so they go on the record to have said that. Otherwise, it's your word against theirs, and as far as I know, Nigeria treats foreigners better than it citizens. So, that'll put you in a bad spot if you don't have concrete evidence.
note: I'm not sure what the "wire tapping" laws are in Nigeria, but I assume it isn't illegal to discretely record the exchange.
