You truly won't understand.while no one is forcing you to join the army, there are a teeming number of youth from the south who are eminently qualified but are denied. While in the North, they go round begging and forcing them to join. A young northern Soldier once told me he never had any inkling that he was to join the army. He said he was playing football in the fields when he was called on phone to go and pack his bags immediately and head to the depot. I was shocked. While hear in the south, people are scrambling, albeit, unsuccessfully to join.

This is exactly how we got to this stage where every army checkpoint you run into brings you face to face with uniformed men looking like aliens! Will they pass the normal procedure for enrollment into the army? States have their quotas, will this be obeyed? Or do this "quota system" thing only come handy when the north feels its about to be shortchanged?? Who is going to conduct the exams? Brutai is from Borno and these are his kiths and kins, is there no clash of interest here? Why are the Niger Delta militants and Bakassi/OPC boys not being recruited immensely into the army since recruitment of folks from jumpy areas seem to be the new fad?? Is the army barracks now a heaven for real and fake refugees? This is serious.

One section of the country controls the army, the air-force, the police, Civil defense, the customs! Is that not scary enough? Why are they using this boko haram menace as an excuse to loot everything in sight through spurious loans and then destroy the countrys institutions by bloating the workforce of security organisation with their own?

In fact I miss Jonathan. This is a dangerous trend with grave consequences in the event of internal war and implosion of the statecraft. Can you imagine! Just picking every scum from the street and infusing them into the army. Is that an Arabic inscription I see on the insignia of the Nigeria army? Hmmm this is really dangerous

Don't get me wrong, I am as spiritual as they come. I say my prayers and I love my God. But, come on...if some spiritual entity was really out to get you, would it come to your room only to scare you for a couple of minutes and just go away? My dear, I am am wary to discuss such with some people because they are blinded by unbelief. They term people like us ignorant, unschooled and deeply fetish. But as a scientist who believes in empirical facts tested by stringent and rigorous analysis, I have come to believe that there is another side to this life we live. The man had a brain tumor, with the attendant physical and neurological symptoms. That is not a candidate for admission into a university, or even employment. What he needed was surgical treatment, not academic advancement. Even the place he went abroad, they treated him before he started his course, and I'm sure they didn't do it for free. So let's stop being sentimental and become realistic.
