She's eventually going to be very very BIG. Say, um, Wole Soyinka big or something. And I'll be thankful I read her 1st. |
Not so fast y'all! I caught the rear. And I dey lock the door now - so no mo games, got it? |
Not so fast y'all. I got ur back. And I dey lock the door now - so no mo games, get it? |
ikpu ukwu ana-atu ujo ya, o ganu ara onwe ya? - shall a highly esteemed; mature or feared lady's vagina screw itself? HELL NO! ma nwata araghi nwata ibe ya, o ga-aranu mgbawara ala? - if a young boy does not screw his peers, will he screw the crevice on the floor? Ezie, a 'he ke mewe l'ogbako ke a atogbodaala m.(I mean that to be Mbaise - where I'm from) |
ibkn:O Ma Gad! U are so hot! U hit the nail on th head. 4 1 moment, I thot it was not the same "Orikinla" (or something ) that I used 2 read his posts here - arguing defensively like a wounded lion. Y'know what? I think SMC brought the freak out of our man. He sure has the freak 2 make a freak freak out - or so I think. But seriously, I'd appreciate it if the "old men" cut down on strutting their weaknesses - that's putting it mildly. |
Wat course are u studying? Coz ur stuff doesn't sound like anything I'm used to |
JESUS! WAT HAVE WE HERE? BARBARIANS?! SEUN, U SERIOUSLY THINK AWARDS ARE NO BIG DEALS? U THINK WATCHING HOLLYWOOD FILMS "SPOILS US"? OR WERE U SLEEPING WEN U TYPED IT? WATEVA HAPPENED 2 THE SPIRIT OF ASPIRING TO BE PERFECT? WAT IS THE VISION? Y SHUD SOMEONE BE APPLAUDED WEN HE MAKES MOVIES HAPHAZARDLY AND INTENDS TO MAKE A LIVING OUT OF IT? U KNOW WAT, I THINK SOME OF U GUYZ ARE SO FREAKIN' NIGERIAN! AND I AM NOT - COZ I'M A "HUMAN" FROM NIGERIA |
Nigerians just love to talk and miss the point. Wat kind of movie are we talking about here? U've said wat it's not, y dont u just say wat it is |
Isn't it bad enuff that u r a VIking? I mean, 2 admit it in public shows u have absolutely no shame. Ok, if u're proud of it, tell me, wat did ur "Odin" think of robbery and violence? D'u think he frowned at such stuff? - I dont think so too. Talking about Pyrates, I dont c much difference b/w them and other terrors,O sorry, sailors - Vikings and Bucaneers. They're just a bunch of boyz that want to die boyz. Some of us want 2 grow from boyz 2 men - we want to have familiez not hommiez. IN CASE U DONT KNOW - THAT'S 4 THOSE WHO SAILING WHEN THEY SHUD BE STUDYING - THERE'S NO DEGREE ON THE SEA, AND DEFINITELY NO GOD THERE. |
Y does some1 call another their friend but stab them rite in the back now and then? Y do I sing so well but strictli in my bathroom? Y do I hate the Nigerian mediocrity mentaliti so much that I hate it even mo just wen I think I'm done hatin' it? |
Please Who has heard anything about the First Bank's test? My sista applied and is waiting. Her number is 08035466764 in case someone has info 4 her. |
Ah, Corper Suzanne! Which state u dey? Dont tell me it's Zamfara please. Tho I know it's no longer as notorious as it was. "Writer's block" - ok "not that good a writer" - that's for your reader's to discern. Have you ever had any serious work of yours criticised? I mean criticism in the literary sense. If not, then why are u afraidof trying? I wud suggest u take ur mind off trying to write a work that is comparable to a certain standard u feel is high enough 4 a reader ur class to respect. Wat I would suggest u try to do is write something u FEEL and the way it's real to u. Shikena. Personally, I'm trying that. Ehe, wat course did u study and where? |
Wateva happened to those guyz: Product G&B, Jimmy Cozier and City High? Could it be mere coincidence that all of them were produced by Wyclef Jean and made known hits that were never followed up? And they are all really good. |
Suzanne, r u a student? D'u write too or d'u just read? B/4 I know all of that, I think u shud know that we have 2 things in common already - we both enjoyed Purple Hibiscus and can hardly wait to check this new one. I'm Nuel by the way. |
Hey, how can u talk like this? U're not the 1st female who wants to study engineering, and u're definitely not going to be the last. So dont discourage urself or try to find tired excuses for the malevolence of ur oppressors - in this case, the system. If u must blame someone, u could start by checking your academic competence. My kid sister has a similar problem, but i dont think it's over yet, at least not b/4 it's over. So u just hang in there and believe in ur best effort |
Whoa! to that. I neva knew. I can hardly wait to see the movie. I love that movie - sorry, the novel - it has very vivid descriptions. I'm almost too sure the movie will top charts. Orikinla, you're one big pack of information! |
U shuda just asked: Who was ur 1st? And if na like dat, den u 4 start 1st. I got to know the theory thru my elder brother, then I tried it out with my friend. U know wats up - she was just as inexperienced as myself. It was fun tho. |
2 questions, Orikinla: How does one read people's views (not replies) on his topic posted? Next is: Have u read Helon Habila's "Waiting 4 an Angel"? Dont u think it will be wonderful 4 the screen? |
I could swear I had a rhyme here someday Where is it now? Anyway, Our land is a LovePeddler steady switching beds. "What she needs" they conjecture, "is a good head" But she needs much more - good heads to bear the head. She had one once, yet she got him sore He lasted 7 months and he was no more If she were to have just one more she only but So from today onward Let her stare reality in her callous face: She cannot afford a good head For a good head sits on heads She has no heads to bear up a good head. |
Last musical work in CD was She Comes On Sundays That part caught my fancy. I suppose u're in Lagos. The distance is quite some. But I hope I'll be oppurtuned to watch one of your stage works someday. Who knows, I could even , |
Orikinla, U said u're a writer. What genre? And where can I find any of your works? I stay at Enugu. |
I write too - prose anyway. But I love poetry. I'm working on a prose work right now, but I dont have a ll the answers to getting it published tho I know that can always sort itself once the work is finished 4 real. Please how does one read people's views (not replies) on his topic? |
Thanks for those tips, Cheechako. I know it's not at all easy. I'll do what I can - all of it. |

Ander, , what's ur educational status? Have you ever encountered the subject called English Language? How about the Pidgin English? At least that's what is easily understood by many of us. |
The tempo of the songs varry in accordance to their relation to the plot. They xpress the various moods inherent in the movie. So sometimes, u hear jamz; at other times, slowz. But in all, they rock your body - the African way. Or better still, the Nigerian way. About the "willing hands", I mean a team that can help me deal with production and marketing;they'll also help me site suitable locations and conduct auditions. They have to be experienced in the movie business, or at least have good concepts to contribute. The story is being wrapped up - by me. Nigeria is the place. Setting will include a university campus. |
Hello? Maybe u shud read the title again. I said a musical movie. And last time I checked, Nigerians wud die to see a movie like "the Fighting Temptations". And with most of the music done in both English, Nigerian Pidgin English and a variety of Nigerian languages - u're defining tight already. Get this picture: It's not a classical music thing. It's just a movie with lots of singing in it. How clear am I this time? |
Musical like good music - wateva u think is good music. Seen "the Fighting Temptations"? I think that's good music. Or "Sister Act" (Part 2 in particular). I think those describe wat I mean by good music. But since I enjoyed the priviledge of being introduced first to classical music, there's bound to be a rub off of that too, u know. Again, since the target audience is Nigeria, the language of the pieces will conform reasonably too - if u know wat I mean. Styl-Plus' style is not a bad idea; Faze's also. HOW CLEAR AM I NOW? CRYSTAL? ![]() |
Yeah. But I need willing hands to produce it. It's neva been done here u know. I c something big. And it's either going to be great or going to wait till it's ready to be great. Wat d'u think? |
Xkape, I wonder less about your work than about u. I wud like to know a little more about the writer(u)'s background. Not so I can appreciate the work - hell no! I do already. But so I can give it a little more than mere peripheral thoughts coz it really deserves a good thinking. Nuel is the name down here and, er , |
The onli reason why there are no comments on this poem is coz the diction is a little ahead of what most Nigerians would easily access. Feel free to to delete the italicised. I'm Nuel and I enjoyed the poem coz it gave me yet anotha reason to weep for my people. Hope u do get to read this coz I can see my comment is late. |
