Romance / Re: No Finance, No Romance! by narcissus(m): 9:05am On Sep 11, 2007
i totally support the "NO FINANCE, NO ROMANCE" principle. I will never ask a woman who has no finance of her own to marry me. I will never marry a cost centre or a liability. I don't usually go to church, but ths is my own confession. grin
Family / Re: How To Make A Marriage Spicy? by narcissus(m): 7:58am On Sep 11, 2007
To make your marriage spicy use your head while ur spouse uses his/her mouth. Serve ur spouse breakfast and give him/her a head while he/she's eating. make sure you do not eat beofre this or else u'll be putting the spice inthe wrong place. grin

Politics / Re: Soludo Begging Yar'adua: Is He A Weakling? by narcissus(m): 5:54pm On Aug 31, 2007
Weakling? The guy just did what he had to keep his job. The same way Obasanjo had to prostrate before Atiku to make second term? Does that make OBJ a weakling? By the way do not ask me for a source. My uncle was there. Call him 08023605947. he'll tell you.
Politics / Re: NNPC To Be Divided Into Five Companies by narcissus(m): 8:45am On Aug 31, 2007
Interesting! NNPC was only divided into three 3. the other two entities are NPD - former ministry of energy- and PIC - former DPR. The only important developments are that NOC- formerly NNPC- will no longer be custodian of the country's investements in the JVs and PSCs; It will now be handled by the seperate entity NOGAHMS - formerly NAPIMS and that the function of petroleum products distribution wil be taken off NNPC and given to PPDA (a merger of PPMC and PPPRA? ala conflicting reports from Thisday and guardian). Consequently the burden (or is it excuse) of products subsidy will be taken off NOC/NNPC. To consolidate these moves, all Oil and Gas industry policy and regulatory roles should be taken off NNPC/NOC and given to NPD and PIC. This should be followed with a mandate and empowerment for NNPC/NOC to function as a profit making business with capacity to raise funds, take loans and make decisions- particularly investemt decisions- without having to refer to the FG. This will put NNPC/NOC in a make or break position. U'll be surprised what will happen. And after all these, if the NNPC/NOC management cannot perform, the company should be sold. If thses do not happen, it will be just another change of name. If you remember, NNPC used to be called NOC before its name was changed to NNPC and all these units created in an effort to make it better. Now its being changed from NNPC to NOC and these units being taken away in an effort to make it better without the core issue being adressed - goverment dependence and interference.
Islam for Muslims / Re: God and Allah: Are they the same? by narcissus(m): 10:40am On Aug 17, 2007
God = Allah? This is interesting. Lingusitically, symbolically and spiritually, we've been unable to agree. We've howeever reached an accord on these three isues: to disagree, to disparage and to leave this site full of anger. God exists I believe but i disbelieve that people who kill others (xtians and muslims alike), forment hate, insult each other at the slightest mention of their God, try to shove their beliefs down the throats of non believers, cannot practice their faiths peacefuully side by side etc. are true representatives of a good and just God. Shame on all of you for insulting the very God you all claim to worship. Therefore, I denounce the God/Allah/ you all worship and stick to my God who is just, peaceful, almighty, full of love and I resort to the natural laws: deep in our hearts i am sure we all know what is wrong and right, devoid of all your creeds, rituals that add no value and create fodder for your cannons of schism and destruction.

Praise to be God, Down with Religion!

And this is not a joke.

@denex
Nigeria1 is right. Funsho wanted to sell the refineries. It was Labour, ably supported by one of the Group Executive Directors that truncated the move. Note: Funsho was almost beaten up by staff for attempting to sell the refineries and laying off over 7000 old and redundant staff and replacing them with fresh graduates and technocrats from the private sector (even Nigerians working outside the country). Funsho has been the wrongly villified vehicle driving for change.

@akeme
Please note that no single NNPC official can divert one dollar of the federations money. Anything denominated in dollar (even if it's a dollar) has to be signed by the president. All diversions and fraud carried out in NNPC concerning crude was orchestrated by the president. (Where do you think the money for third term, Obasanjo Lirbrary etc came from). NNPC officials are not in anyway honest, they commit their own fraud (Contracts,endless trips abroad not made etc) but anything to do with crude was done by the president.

@Disguy
Yaradua is a current GED of NNPC and the most senior official after the out gone GMD. So, until the new political appointment is announced, he should rightfully be the acting GMD. And yes he is from Katsina state.
Food / Re: The First Time You Cooked? by narcissus(m): 11:10am On Aug 14, 2007
I can't remember much from my first time cooking but three things come to mind clearly: (1) putting the oil on fire, (2) Watching Voltron, (3) My neighbours sceaming fire fire fire. It was crazy, the entire new ceiling of my kitchen was changed from white to thick black. I still try to wash it everytime i go back home as penance for my sins. grin

Politics / Re: Olokola LNG And The Niger Delta Question by narcissus(m): 9:17am On Aug 10, 2007
I do not know all the technicalities of the Ok project. In fact I may not know much about anything, but I am absolutely certain that it is impossible to cheat entire peoples like has been done in the ND withouta great deal of complicity from their leaders (except of course by brute force) eg the slve trade. So, if any definite change must take place (especially now that we have a semblance of a democracy) in the lot of the ND, their leadership must cease to be selfish opportunits who will always toe the line of least resistence when it comes to issues affecting their states. I have copious examples of situations in which initiatives that would have impacted on life in the ND have been truncated because leaders of the communities couldn't put aside personal or thnic differences and form a collective front or simply wanted hefty sums of money to be paid to them before any work can be done.

Food / Re: Indomie Noodles With 'Ugu' Leaf by narcissus(m): 4:30pm On Jul 31, 2007
I love to cook but I often get home very late from work so I eat noodles for dinner at least 4 times a week. And I eat it with anything: UGU, SHOKO, BEANS, EGGS, SWEET CORN, CRAYFISH and always plenty plenty pepper  tongue,  anything I can imagine while attending one of those boring meetings that last till forever. And it's always fantastic. Do You know what I imagined for tonight; Indomie, Ugu and diced goat meat. HMMMMMMMM,

Politics / What Will Happen When We Become The Leaders Of Nigeria? by narcissus(m): 12:08pm On Jul 27, 2007
I was just thinking: We (our generation) are obviously disgruntled by the state of our country and our overwhelming leadership crisis. This is all good as far as criticism and advocacy go. Eventually the baton of leadership will move to our generation unless these guys can live forever (Okija might make new discoveries in its advanced research programme). What will happen then? Will we be able to break free from the antecedents we have grown up with or will we go down the same route of selfishness, corruption, tribalism etc.

PLEASE BE HONEST!!!!
Politics / Re: Agusto, Lagos Ministerial Nominee Not Confirmed By Senate by narcissus(m): 11:57am On Jul 27, 2007
I like the guy Bode Agusto: very intelligent and commited to all he does. I can attest to this personally, worked with him for a bit. However, denex makes a lot of sense. Being book smart is not the only key for success in your endeavours, especially when it comes to things like public office and politics; your people skills, attitude etc count a lot. Do you know how many over qualified candidates fail to get jobs they apply for (they always scale the aptitude tests easily) simply beacuse of their terrible people skills and attitudes that are negative or are seen to appear so?
Politics / Re: 'All Nigerians Are Corrupt', Says Oprah Winfrey by narcissus(m): 10:03am On Jul 27, 2007

When i verify, hell hath no fury like a Proud Nigerian scorned!!! grin

Romance / Re: Relationship Strain: Girl Drives In School, Boyfriend Doesn't by narcissus(m): 8:32am On Jul 27, 2007
This reminds me of a much older friend whose dad gave her a 406. Her boyfriends broke up with her, and she couldn't get a boyfriend (even a toaster) for years. Her father had to take back the car and within 3 months she had an army of scopers. It was crazy!!! I smell a complex here,  best thing to do is sit his ass down, have a long conversation and try to talk it through. You'll be surprisd what you'll find out about his insecurities. But if you can't work it out, hit the road (with your car that should be easy).

Anyways, any rich girl having issues with her boyfriend becase she's got it going on should feel free to holler @ me. Like they say: If your father is poor, it's your fate. If your father in law is poor, it's your stupidity. grin
Religion / Re: Is Pastor Kumuyi Our Best Holiness Preacher? by narcissus(m): 3:18pm On Jul 26, 2007
@doyin13
I grew up in a deeperlife family and we are far from poor. You will be surprised at the number of very successful businnessmen and leaders in the corporate world who are depperlifers. What I understand from the years I spent there is that anything that would remotely be misconstrued by people as being unholy and could tarnish your "testimony"should be avoided. This is his belief and that of his church members and i think it should be respected as extreme as it might seem. Remember, there are also churches that people consider to be extreme in their expression of freedon and prosperity.
Religion / Re: I Find Church Services Boring by narcissus(m): 9:22am On Jul 26, 2007
this is so funny. I for one have been to the "liveliest" curches, house on the rock, harvesters etc. but every single service I must sleep, even if na just 5 minutes. I gho buy gum, buy sweet, drink coffee but man nothing works. I was even tempted at one time to give up on going to church and buy cds to listen to where i can pause when i'm sleepy, sleep, wake up and continue but it was like losing a struggle. And nobody should say i don't love God cause I do. I'm as confused as the poster, people help us oh. seriously.
Politics / Re: A Sweet Wind Of Change Is Blowing In Nigeria! by narcissus(m): 7:55am On Jul 26, 2007
@ mckren
While I might not totally agree with you about my quoting that dictum out of context (I disagree actively as a matter of habit), I have given further thought to your comment and realise that the political intricacies of Nigerian politics would render that dictum flawed. Nice post yours and thanks for sparing Angel101 the trouble. Only God knows how she would have worded her next line of argument. And if you need someone to disagree with, I'll be there for you. Hola

@angel101
phew!!!!! (heaving a sigh of relief) You are feisty though and i don't mind that  wink

Politics / Re: A Sweet Wind Of Change Is Blowing In Nigeria! by narcissus(m): 5:02pm On Jul 25, 2007
@angel101
I will, and gladly too. derogatory: disparaging, expressing a low opiniom of someone or something. By the way, it's an exchange of ideas, take it easy with the agressive tone. cool

@mckren
I live for contructive criticism. Will be waiting. By the way, i didn't scold angel101. I only disagreed with a certain part of her comment, not the whole mind you.
