When people that claim to be progressives dont read before they comment  and show off this annoying level of prejudice, it makes me want to throw up. The report says the action  is based on a court order and you did not even bother to find out the story behind the order. Nonsense.

If GEJ has not closed down more critical newpapers houses, then why Thisday?

Trials of the quartet of Alhaji Sanni Lulu, Mr. Amanze Uchegbulam, Dr. Bolaji Ojo-Oba and Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi, who were being tried for alleged N1.3 billion fraud while they were officers of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), suffered a setback, on Tuesday, at a federal high court sitting in Abuja, just as the accused raised a preliminary objection on the jurisdiction of the court to hear the matter.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) had earlier slammed a 10- count criminal charge on the former NFF officials of which they all pleaded not guilty, after which the court admitted them to bail and adjourned the matter for hearing to Tuesday.

When the matter came up for hearing, on Tuesday, the second, third and fourth accused through their counsel, Chief Akin Olujinmi(SAN) and Mr. Omokayode Dada, brought a preliminary objection on the jurisdiction of the court to entertain the matter.
Counsel to the third accused, Kayode Dada, said the application was premised on the grounds that the Federal Government did not have any right to legislate over football related matters under the constitution, adding that the NFF had an act regulating its affairs which was tailored after FIFA statute.
Dada further stated that the charges preferred against the accused persons bothered on the breach of Criminal Act, EFCC Act and Public Procurement Act, adding that since NFF was not being regulated by such Acts, it could not be binding on the accused and as such they could not have breached the provisions of such laws.
He, therefore, urged the court to look into it and determine whether it has jurisdiction or not.

Responding to the application, the prosecution counsel, Chief Titus Ashaolu, informed the court that the application was just served on them in the court, and, therefore, prayed the court for a short adjournment in other to respond to the preliminary objection raised by the accused and to regularise his proof of evidence, adding that the prosecution witnesses were ready to testify.

None of the accused counsel opposed the application for adjournment. The presiding judge, Justice Donaltus Okorowo, therefore, adjourned the matter till November 4, 2010 for argument of the preliminary objection.

As touching the call for true federalism as against having a south south president. i just laugh at this idealistic claims. How and who will give you true federalism now with the present composition of the NASS? The SS delegates to OBJ's hurried national conference could not even convince other delegates why derivation should be moved to 25% . where you not in this country?

A SOUTH SOUTH  president is 100 times easier to get than true federalism. If jonathan  gets 4 yrs and the SS see no changes , then he would have confirmed that the SS is actually cursed. With the present composition and revenue generation capacities in the country, you cannot and I repeat cannot have more than 8 of the 36 states supporting true federalism. It will surprise you to find that even in the nearby SE, not more than 1 state will suport it.

If getting the ss to produce the president is so difficult and some are saying we should chase true federalism instead I will only ask a question from the bible:

Answer this question first. Has Okah then taken responsibility for the bombings? Becuase the only premise for this claim is that he is agreeing that he actually ordered the bombings becuase the ND is not benefiting from GEJ'S presidency.

Do you know the difference between arresting someone , and inviting him for questioning?  I cant connect with this your long essay. Dokpesi was invited to report to ths SS office by 10am, he was released by 11pm after questioning. Now tell me where arrest dey for the mata?

Dokpesi was not arrested. He was invited for questioning. The SS invited him, he went, was questioned and now asked to go. I just hope he will not be foolish to start talking nonsense now. Anybody and I mean anybody can be invited for questioning on this matter.

What a statement? This is a national security issue, and if anyone and I mean anybody is fingered, he must be interrogated and come clean before he can be left off the hook.
