Can anyone point the exact statement where the pastor said "Do Not Vote For A Muslim President"? He simply said christians will determine the next president. Even in Lagos fashola attends almost every important christian gathering because he knows how many potential voters can be won by such acts. Ibime: The pastor should shaaarrrrraaaaaaap!!!
Its not about religion, but about a certain section of the country who wanna remain Lord forever.
The most muslim of them all, Buhari himself was prolly the best preso we've had. so if that part of the country that wants to lord it over others, belong to a particular religion, and use that religion to advance personal and collective course, how different is your state point from the pastor's? Which Buhari? stubborness and strong leadership are not same. Abeg. |

Politics › Re: "Do Not Vote For A Muslim President" - Pastor Paul Adefarasin by naso2(m): 10:40am On Nov 18, 2010 |
Adefarasin said that there are about 100 million Christians in Nigeria who must determine who becomes the president of their country, adding that most of them have taken the back seat and allowed Muslims to rule the country for long.
Adefarasin, who was preaching at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, Nigeria, blamed the predominance of muslim leaders in the country on the disunity in the church.
“The church is divided among itself,” he said.
Adefarasin said that the polity has been Islamized for long and Christians must wake up and pray against it.
“Nigerians used to be the most educated people in the world until the likes of Abacha and the Murtala Muhammed came and scattered our educational system to slow down the South so that the North can catch up, instead of speeding up the North,” Adefarasin said. Am i missing something here? The pastor simply asked christians to take responsibility and determine who becomes the president of this country. Even if this arrangement produces a muslim president, he will not come with a muslim/sharia agenda, knowing full well that christians are active voters and would always vote out whoever does not protect their interest. If the power of christian voters was properly considered, this useless sharia code would have been handled with better respect for christians. Moderator if not bias (which i sincerely doubt) should change the title ASAP. The original piece from reads "adefarasin tasks christians on presidency" so how did it now change to "Do Not Vote For A Muslim President"? And this made it to the front page too? |

The ACN angle is only a supporting argument. ACN has awoist outlook and internal workings. You can be sure that on the face of that alone, the party will not appeal to the average Igbo man. If they have issues with PDP , then PPA, and APGA are more realistic alternatives. |

DapoBear: If a person who loves his own ethnicity is also considered a tribalist, and tribalist is strictly a negative term, then there is something wrong with the definition of tribalist. You cannot tell me some guy in Romania or Finland who wants his people to do well is also a "tribalist."
And keep in mind that that there are FAR more Yoruba people even just in Nigeria than there are Romanians or Finns on the face of the earth.
This is why I questioned the definition of tribalist earlier in this thread. Bros , I hope you understand that even love has its negative expressions. A tribalist is someone who shows strong loyalty to one's own tribe. The emphasis is on " strong". To a tribalist's tribesmen, he is only showing is identity and loyalty. But in a broader sense, his love for his tribe beclouds his judgement in every sense. If i look at most issues from my position as an ijaw man and how it affects my tribe first before anything else, then i am a tribalist. Becomerich is one. |

Pepetual nkwocha has simply been the only one carrying the team . I think the coach went with too many age grade girls and the pay off is far less than what we expected.
As it stands, if pepetual fails to click in any match, we may as well kiss the dream of reclaiming the trophy goodbye. Even with pepetual, Bayana bayana will fancy their chances against nigeria in the finals if they get past EQ GUINEA. Should equitorial guinea beat SA, I doubt if our girls are convincing enough to avenge their semi final loss to equitorial guinea 2 years ago.

sbeezy8: Wrong in 2007 atiku ran alongside ben obi from anambra on AC platform -WHICH SAYS ACN IS A NATIONAL PARTY. and it didnt WORK. Atiku even came in third, they played that "igbo card" and it failed, tho there was rigging, AC lost mainly because PDP,APGA,PPA are more dominant in SE.
best option tinubu has it to pick a vp from edo or sw WHERE HIS PARTY ALREADY EXISTS AND CAN WIN VOTES. ACN has no footing in the SE, its growing in the SW and edo. It would be dumb for ACN to pick a vp from a region where they are not relevant and expect people to vote them just because its n igbo man on the ticket.
jonathan/pdp is winning all SE votes against any notherner point blank, but in the SW he cannot win more than half if anything against ACN.
only way nuhu can beat GEJ is if buhari steps down and supports him Even if a SW vp is picked, you can be sure that GEJ would still wrestle at least 50% of the votes from SW. Then GEJ gets almost wholesale, the votes of SS and SE. NC and NE will be split between GEJ and the northern contender. The only zone he will let go will be NW . For the presidential election , people will vote based on their perception of the candidate. For governorship it sure will be along party lines, this means that PDP might lose some SW states but GEJ would still get the votes in such states. Never underestimate the massive christian populace that will vote GEJ in lagos even when we know that AC almost has the governorship in the bag. |

Eyeama though a good goal tender has never proven that he can lead an entire team. Even organising the backline as the last man in the defence is a problem for eyeama, not to talk of the entire team. He is simply too gentlemanly for the job.
A mikel captaincy will really make the young man more responsible, and as well sound the necessary alarm , that a new order has been born in the SE. |

Gbawe: Ribadu remains my choice. Buhari is second. Even in the ACN nothing has changed as far as I know . The Party continues to state that it wants a young , dynamic candidate who is a break from the past and acceptable to all Nigerians. I would think that appears to be more Ribadu. We are not all like Jonathan's fans who lack integrity. It is only GEJ fans who will claim to respect an individual and then begin to attack his person because he now stands against Jonathan. Everyone , no matter how decent , is open game for GEJ fans.
I respect Buhari enduringly even if he stands in the way of Ribadu. Folks with integrity stand up for what/who they believe in 24/7. I joined this thread to balance out the negative things written about Buhari that I felt was unfair . Writing in defence of Buhari does not then mean that I now support him ahead of Ribadu. If it were Donald Duke my response would be similar i.e I would defend a man I respect. it does not then mean I have switched allegiance. You should understand that some of us don't have the siege mentality and mudslinging thinking of GEJ fans . I am not limited to only speaking well about the candidate I support while denigrating everyone else. you of all people? to you anything against GEJ is fair, na you dey preach toi people? . Abeg save your sermon. Point one single post you have made where you feel GEJ was unfairly maligned and you stood up to correct it. Politics › Re: S’west Must Remain In Nigeria’s Mainstream Politics – Nwodo ! by naso2(m): 12:02pm On Nov 08, 2010 |
Gbawe: Indeed. If Nigerians are politically sophisticated and we actually see what needs to be seen, to enable wise decision making ,we will admit , without a doubt , that Buhari's behaviour , as an opposition Politician, has been textbook exemplary if we compare it to what obtains in highly democratic nations.
We should then look at the behaviour of Atiku , IBB and others when they were not part of the Government of the day to note that they are very poor choices in comparison to Buhari. Atiku was busy running up and down like a cheap love-peddler and dining with all manners of devils in his desire to become President . What manner of President will such an unprincipled man make ? How about IBB? When the cabal hijacked the Presidency lately did we hear even a whisper from this man when Nigeria needed our sagacious statesmen to speak and mobilise Nigerians? Saraki , meanwhile , was busy doing everything to ensure that power was not handed over to Jonathan !!!! Buhari was one of the first Nigerian leader to demand publicly and unequivocally that Jonathan be sworn in as Acting President without delay !!!
Buhari's own chances to become President will be highly strenghtened if Jonathan does not run . Others are in the same position and are trying to make Jonathan pull out by all means necessary. Buhari and Ribadu , to the best of my knowledge, are the only Northern Presidential candidates to state publicly that Jonathan has the right to contest for the Presidency. This is a display of true integrity rare in Nigeria. Not many Nigerian politicians will do/say the right thing if that means their own ambition is threatened . All we see are politicians , including Jonathan, doing undemocratic "do-or-die" things designed to help them win unfairly at all cost while Buhari is happy to democratically test his electoral popularity against anyone fairly . There are more examples showing how Buhari acted like a statesman and democrat when he could have been parochial, cynical and self-serving like virtually all others have done . Buhari is , without doubt , one of the best choices for President as per the leader Nigerian needs right now. hmmmmmmmm. like una mentor tinubu na sense, sense , you don dey dump ribadu your ideal candidate, dey move go buhari side who say democracy, no be crase man work? : |

I will only excuse those criticising this move if they admit that they have limited information about what the money is meant for. This is not a grant/dash. It is similar to the agric loans given to farmers . What the govt is trying to do is to bridge the gap , entertainers have with finance.
It is a 30 billion naira pool, from where loans will be giving for projects in the entertainment industry, hence whoever has a good concept( song, film etc) would no longer by constrained by lack of funds.
I hope people now see the picture clearer? |
Politics › Job: Firstbank's Untenable Alibi by naso2(op): 10:37am On Nov 08, 2010 |
MR Durojaye Job Adeyemi is, according to reports in the media, “ a 30-year-old HND 2 Civil Engineering student of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, who a couple of months ago had tried so hard in the face of temptation to live up to the standard
of his biblical namesake. The Bible describes Job as a man who once lived in the land of Uz, who was “blameless, a man of complete integrity. He feared God and stayed away from evil.”
LIKE his namesake in the Bible, Mr Durojaye Job Adeyemi was also tested. His account with the FirstBank Plc was erroneously credited with N9.3 billion. For a poor student or anybody for that matter, such a discovery is surely a big temptation. Rather than going on a spending spree, Mr Durojaye tested the credit by withdrawing N20,000 and upon seeing that the account had been truly credited, returned the N20,000 and alerted the bank to the error.
IN the Nigerian context, what Mr Durojaye did was quite absurd, even if honest. In a country where societal values that have been upheld and underscored over the years have been invalidated and even repudiated by current trend of events and behaviour, shunning an opportunity such as one provided by the erroneous lodgement of 9.3 billion naira in one’s account is indeed strange and outlandish. To be candid, what Mr Durojaye Job did was the normal, decent thing to do in a sane society and there is even no need for the effusive adulation that has attended his gesture.
MR Durojaye Job’s honest gesture however has contrasted so sharply with the materialistically depraved and corrupt background of the Nigerian cultural context so much so that he has suddenly become an example for this generation and praises and awards have been coming torrentially. His church was proud of him and many other individuals and organisations have been rewarding Mr Durojaye Job for his exemplary honesty which is rare in Nigeria.
In the short time that the ATM device has been popularised, it has caused a lot of woes to the subscribers who have either been careless with their PIN numbers or those who have fallen victims to even insider abuse from the banks. Many have come to sure financial ruin through unauthorised withdrawals from their accounts with ATM cards sometimes even above the legal ceiling for such withdrawals. In all instances, the banks usually claim they were not culpable, blaming the crime on customers’ carelessness with their PIN. Now the tables have been turned.
WHEN ANCOR, the volunteer arm of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) sought a clarification from the FirstBank’s management for the purpose of giving Mr Durojaye an official recognition, the bank demurred. In its memo dated October 6, 2010, addressed to the Chairman of Oyo ANCOR, the bank claimed that information available to it showed that Mr Job wanted to withdraw more than N20,000 that he eventually returned but for the bank’s quick rectification. The bank’s Chief Internal Auditor and the C.O. of the Internal Audit department, stated in their memo that “On Friday 13th August 2010, between 6.36 p.m. and 6.53 p.m., there was an incident where ATMs displayed N9.3 billion on all FirstBank ATM cards.”
IT seems that FirstBank management by this official repudiation of Mr Durojaye Job’s gesture would rather refuse to endorse Mr Durojaye’s claim to any applause. FirstBank’s management ought to have allowed its public relations department to handle the matter instead of further worsening its original errors.
IN the first place, where did the error occur originally? Why should 9.3 billion naira be credited to all FirstBank ATM cards at all if no such lodgement was made? Were there other false withdrawals made based on such erroneous posting? How many of such withdrawals were returned? How did FirstBank management know the intention of Mr Durojaye Job of wanting to withdraw more than N20,000.00 from his account? Why did he eventually return the money if truly he was a crook as FirstBank’s letter would have Nigerians believe?
THE management of FirstBank Plc made a fatal public relations error in its attempt to cover up its original carelessness. Its accusations or counter claims against Mr Durojaye are illogical, not to say foolish. But even beyond that such an attempt would tend to invalidate the aphorism that, honesty is the best policy now that it wants to paint Durojaye as a fraud. Its explanations and excuses are unacceptable because they underscore the views of some Nigerians who are already calling Mr Durojaye a fool. In an era of rebranding Nigeria, FirstBank’s defence is outrageous. The bank should have kept quiet if it could not join in endorsing and celebrating Mr Durojaye’s honesty.
We think that those who may want to recognise Mr Job officially should not be deterred by FirstBank’s foolish attempt to cover up its original errors of posting a fictitious figure into their customers accounts. If Nigeria remains the materialistically depraved and corrupt society that it is, Mr Durojaye should get all the applause and official recognition he deserves irrespective of the grandstanding from corporate organisations like the FirstBank
