Just watched Werner give an interview saying ....it's my first time playing against 3 defenders so tall.......very big massive defenders... I almost spilled my drink. |

nihilistjnr: I didn't like it.
We played like a team with 3 number tens on the pitch.
Neither kante nor Jorginho seemed comfortable to drive with the ball from midfield, and RLC continued to play as a second striker...as a result there was that disconnect in midfield.
Similar tactics Vs Liverpool would be suicidal. Kovacic is sorely needed in the pivot
We were bailed out today by individual displays. In tactical terms, Lampard was out-witted...though I'm willing to consider that Lampard's hand may have been forced due to fitness issues
Havertz was also too jittery for me today. He's fortunate it was an away game...in Corona season. Shed end boys don't play that
What did you think? I thought it was a needless tactic, seeing as the Liverpool game is up next, and being aware that playing like that at against a Liverpool side will be death literally. So not quite sure why we played that way. There was imbalance in the midfield. I agreed with you eventually in the disconnect you saw early on. I put it down to gelling issues at the time but it quickly became clear we were having a tactical issue. RLC having a stinker didn't help. Kovacic back in midfield I agree. I am worried about Havertz's lack of explosion but willing to give it time. I thought Werner was great all round. |

nihilistjnr: Is Mendy coming 100%?
Because Kepa is disgraceful I believe the deal is done. Announcement I believe is what is left. We must not go into the Liverpool game with Kepa. What did you make of the tactics/formation today? |

BlueAngel444: Chelsea's defensive structure and play in this game has been okay, at least better than last season I would say it wasn't really tested. We still have a serious goalie issue if Kepa plays. Apart from Kepa's moment of madness under Sarri during the FA Cup, I never really criticised him but goodness it's time to admit we made a mistake. On the whole, there's not much to make of the game. 30% capacity maybe. Chilwell, Pulisic, Ziyech, Silva, Mendy to join. |

BlueAngel444: RLC is playing poorly, is it as a result of the position he is playing in, with Werner drifting continuously to the left, making RLC move centrally. Besides isn't this what how they played in preseason so wtf is wrong with RLC.
Lampard should pull him off and put Giroud or Abraham To be honest, apart from Werner, everyone has been pretty average. And that is down to the tactics Lampard has chosen to deploy. Mount, RLC, Havertz, Kante, are all playing in needless positions. This is the sort of thing we play when we have been ravaged by injury. We should be hiring the ground running. Play a 4-3-3 with Kante, Kai and Mount in midfield. CHO and anyone else in the flanks. There really isn't any need for these tactics. Not sure what Lamps is trying out. It certainly won't work against Liverpool, so I am not sure why we are doing it. |

nihilistjnr: Big disconnect in midfield between our back 6 and front 4.
James and Alonso are being forced to play the ball down the line to an offside Werner I think it's just a little bit of getting used to playing together. We will soon start putting the ball on the ground and passing it around, as we should |

Allan was invisible, but boyyy he put in mad work in that midfield. Legit player Allan. Everton will do well if they can keep these guys fit. |

BlueMann: I'm not sure but I don't think he'll have to quarantine, cos the UK government gave exceptions to travelers coming from certain countries. I know for sure Germany is one of them, and I think France is too. Nope France is on the list. Has been for at least two weeks. We've not been able to get people to France/Belgium to work for for the same reasons. So yes, Mendy is highly likely to be going straight into quarantine upon signing. Unless he's been conveniently camping in Germany or Poland for the last two weeks. |

19 pages of jealousy-ridden pages. I wonder why anyone thinks net-spend is a "convenient excuse". Chelsea has transitioned from a club that spent Russian money frivolously, to a well-run club. The club relies heavily on annual sales to fund transfers and that equals net-spend.
One of the many business strategies that Chelsea employs is the strategic scouting of fringe players. These players may or may not make it. These are the likes Lucas Piazon, Pasalic, Papy Djilobodji, Matt Miazga, Michael Hector, Keneth Omeruo, Danilo Pantic, Baba Rahman, to name a few. Recently, the likes of Malang Sarr and Xavier Mbuyamba have been picked up on a free.
Hector, Pasalic, Djilobodji are examples of players who have recently been sold on for more money than were purchased for, whilst all the time, their loan fees cover initial transfer value.
Their sell-on fee don't hit the news because they are not high profile. But £8m here, £6m there, £10m there all add up. Why would anyone think this does not matter? |
