seankafor:Yes you can. But we were not talking about back-channel streaming. We were talking about live TV. |
Ibime:Not sure. Heard it on TalkSports. I think Amazon might be the outsiders showing more games. |
seankafor:In the UK we don't get all games live on TV. Especially Saturday 3pm games. |
All PL games this month will be live on TV. All games! |
Ibime:It appears the club is listening to offers for Kante and Jorginho. It may explain the interest in Rice. I think someone is thinking like I am thinking that this might be the last chance to sell Kante for serious bucks. I don't want to sell Kante but I understand the financial logic behind selling Kante and Jorginho and replacing with Rice and Gilmour. |
biomustry:This is shocking! Does Marina know how to design Jerseys? It looks like we are going to need her involvement in this department as well. |
nihilistjnr:I think you have just not liked RLC as a player. RLC's full debut as a Chelsea player with 11 goals from midfield was at 22. He was at Palace as 21. Everything he's been judged on so far, is his playing career until 22. Who gets judged like that? That's not even close to his best. So this comparison to "Barkley's best" is a needless point really. In fact, I could extrapolate based on his output and tell you that if he did not get injured, and the consistency continued under Lampard; with the chances we create now, RLC would have been hitting 15/16 goals steady per season, a feat that Barkley will have to sell his talent to achieve at his very best. Barkley has an awkward turn of pace, he can be clumsy, has very poor decision making the final third, and ultimately not very compatible with the Lampard style of football. Where Barkley excels is in counter-attacking football. We don't play that way. These are the key indices where RLC is head and shoulders above him. RLC can play counter-attacking football, but on top of that is an intelligent footballer that is quick on his feet, crisp and sharp in his passing, deceptively quick, serious goal threat, has defensive presence in set-pieces, serious build and size, can play multiple positions, serious presser in midfield, and a very decent fit for Lampard's tactics. Barkley can stay. It's okay. We would always need all the legs we can get. But when it comes to giving a talent a chance, it's got to be RLC getting that spot, if he's shown in training that he is up for it. |
nihilistjnr:Apples and Oranges. If Barkley grew up as a Chelsea player, nobody will know zilch about him. Barkley's "acclaimed" success is largely due to the faith that Everton put in him as a young player, a chance that RLC never had Chelsea. RLC scored 11 goals from midlfield at Chelsea in his first full season. It was even full because he got injured. And he's been recovering ever since. In that time Barkley has been playing alognside upgraded talent compared to his Everton days, and has had the chance to establish himself himself as the number one Chelsea midfielder but everyone's first 11 now includes Mount before Barkley. So much for all the talent. Let RLC 2 seasons under his belt at Chelsea, then we can judge fairly. |
VargasVee:All the people who say that never watched him at Palace. |
BlueAngel444:Nawa o! I am asking the same. It looks like we are slowly sleep-walking into an era of Oliver-Twist things, where everyone wants to bin everything old and want everything new and shiny. The last time was 03-09 before Chelsea fans started to accept that we could no longer sign top class. Bin RLC, bin Kovacic, Bin Barkley. Buy Rice, Buy Thiago Alcantara. Damn! This is not how you build teams. The club has done a fantastic job with the targets and final acquisitions. Ziyech, Werner, Chilwell, Thiago, Havertz in a single window is heavenly - stuff of dreams. I will be happy if we didn't sign anyone else. I will gladly play Caballero. Truth be told, until now, the likes of Gilmour, RLC, Mount, Ampadu, CHO, James, Tomori have only been training alongside very averagely-talented squad members. Training alongside these new high-quality players will cause at least one of these young players to upgrade seriously. I am not a big fan of Barkley's but that doesn't mean he should be binned. If he wants to move on because of playing time and Euros consideration, then it is what it is. But we all know when it comes to injuries, we need a decent second 11. So all this bin this guy, bin that guy. I don't get it. The only players that should be heading for the exit are the clearly obvious one - Drinkwater, Bakayoko, Palmieiri, Rahman, Zappacosta, Moses, Van Ginkel (sadly), Kennedy and if possible Jorginho. |
Skimpledawg:Nawa o! Na RLC you dey take rub floor like this? You keep saying this over and over. You have never witnessed an RLC peak, ever! So I am not sure why there is this direct comparison. We've all seen what Barkley can do. Let RLC have one/two full seasons of full fitness, you will change your mind sir. |
nihilistjnr:I like what you are on to here. Actually I have noticed that all those 3 can play multiple positions effectively. In the event of injuries or major changes required, I can see a line-up resembling the following: ------ Kante ---- -----Kova ---Mount/RLC Havertz--Giroud---Werner |
Ibime:Walahi I never thought he smoked. How did he have the lungs to put in 8km plus shift per game? |
That was offside |
Nobody should be paid that much to play football for the sake of life's delicate balance. ![]() Haba! Millions will lose the will to live. |
Havertz done! |
Ibime:Well said Ibime. I can relate to that scare you had. I am happy he's alright now. |
donjazet:Okay this is the truth. His response to you was completely disgusting. Nobody deserves those comments. I cannot understand any circumstance under which such comments are permissible to be directed at anyone . Havng said that, by a mile, you were the super instigator. You went needlessly down a route, laced with very vile abuse and escatlated the tussle when you started to say very digusting things about family. He asked you to stop and at that point you really should have. I am not absolving any one of you of blame or condoning the circumstance surrounding anything said. Both of you have said very abonimable things and the least you can do is own your contribution to this horrible outcome. I cannot imagine how much pain you feel from what was said but please don't make it look like he would not have been extremely hurt by your preceeding posts. You guys should find a way and rise above the emotional hurt, and manufacture an apology from somewhere abeg. |
Donzajet and Nihilist, Guys I have not been here in a while and maybe this sort of tone has been set in my absence but this has got to be most unpleasant set of posts I have ever read on this forum. I see e-fights all the time but what this has descended into? I cannot lie. You guys both crossed the line. Come on guys. |
donjazet:I am not oblivious to the potential violence some will wield in the name of religion. I acknowledged that in my last post. You seem oblivious to the fact that hundreds of years ago, Christians did the same things in the name of religion. We are no different from them. We are just lucky to have evolved earlier. I don't know those you roll with but I have many friends who are Muslims - some who will say verbatim that they don't condone it and others who may not, but I confirm by their non-participatory actions. I don't need people to be religious or political activists. I don't push the bar further by asking them to criticize their beloved prophet for a decision made hundreds of years ago, at a time when it may be seen as normal in society to do so. It's okay for people to not verbalize their disagreements with the acts, for fear of religious retribution or how such views may be seen by fanatics. It doesn't mean they condone it either. You guys need to understand religious sensitivity and reasons behind it. You have to start from that end, if the goal is to bring an end to this abhorrent acts of paedophilia. But if your goal is to criticize the religion first, then you will achieve nothing. |
donjazet:There was a time in history when Christian religious fanatics in ancient England will chop your head off for blasphemy against Jesus. It's no different to what is happening now with Islamic fundamentalists. Christianity has gone through centuries of evolution. And now Christians seem more tolerant of what is considered religious slander. Islam is learning and evolving , albeit in a new world, it's evolving nonetheless. So it's been the way of man. People been doing things under the guise of religion for eons. It's not the religion in people that causes them to do things, it's the people in religion who do things. Paedophilia is not exempt. The fact is that there are way more liberal Muslims now than there were decades ago, as evidenced by the millions of southern Nigerian Muslims who don't condone the acts of paedophilia. In another 50 years, there will be millions of more Muslims, born into a less conservative society, who chose not to condone it. |
donjazet:There's no denying the role that religious fanatics play in the discourse; but we add to the problem when we don't separate facts from widely-held false beliefs. There are 10s of millions of southern Nigerian Muslims who don't take child wives. There are millions of southern Nigerian Muslims who don't condone the idea either. In the UK here, there are tons of non-religious men from a certain demographic who constantly engage in sexual relations with young boys and girls. The only difference is they cannot legally marry them. I am willing to bet that if there is legal cover for these people, they too will try to marry young boys and girls. Some people will try to do this, regardless of region or religion. It's a human thing, not a religious thing. |
ShitStain:Statements like these are just about as inflammatory as the abhorrent acts of child marriage. I think you will find that child marriage is only a cultural thing rather than a religious belief of any kind; and that most Muslims around the world do not condone the act. I am a Christian but even I know child marriage has nothing to do with the Islamic religion. |
Chilwell is getting grief like this even before kicking a football? Nawa o. I like Chilwell. I think he can be solid. |
Welcome Ben Chiwell. I think you are going to fit in perfectly. |
Ibime:THat's the first thing I thought when I saw videos of him. LB material. |
Anyone watched Eduoard Mendy from Rennes? How good is he? |
donjazet:Hey man. Used to. Not done it in five seasons. Looking to take it up this season. |
MorataFC:I was. I am saying even though he started his career in defence, he has that robustness, technical ability and combative ability to move in defensive midfield. |
BlueMann:Indeed. It's a combination of two seasons worth of transfer spends. But at least there is the appearance of wise and strategic spending, in contrast to the scatter gun approach of only a fee years ago. And yes, lots of talent. And you imagine the likes of Conor Gallagher, Marc Guehi, Ian Maatsen, Armando Broja waiting in the wings as top notch contenders for spots in the first team, I see a good things unfolding this season and onwards. |
Griffon:Bro I have been good o. Na time o. Being a Dad of 3 with work join. Not easy to find all the time like back in the day. But this season dey excite me. On Xavier, I strongly believe in the young talent. I think he will break in sooner than expected. I know a few people have mentioned his defensive qualities; what attracts me more is his technical ability on the ball. The foot work for his height is incredibly exceptional. Reminds me more of Patrick Viera than the Van Dijk tags I see all around. In fact, I have a prediction that he will end up succeeding Kante in midfield. I expect him to be training with the first team soon. Meanwhile, I am loving this links with Gimenez. Someone tell me this is all true. |
Griffon:Oh this is coming to the main team quicker than you may think. You need to see this guy play. Note his name. I am liking all the moves regarding the club's signings and targets - main and development squads. Very exciting times. |
