cstr1000: He played Moses as a substitute on the left after Alonso left, and somehow his best games for Chelsea have been as a right wing back.
Moses on the right is a genuine attacking threat. Zapacosta does not offer half the threat Moses does.
He should have started Moses as RWB to stretch the inevitable Westham Bus. You sure say you watch the game so? |

cstr1000: Conte can be naïve as fucck.
He saw how westham defended for their life against city. Why didn't he start Moses on the right to provide enough width and attacking thrust especially given Moses impressive outing last time where he single-handedly won us the game by providing an assist and winning a penalty .
I honestly don't see anything special in zappacosta. His attacking instinct is shitt. He is a defender, not a wing-back. I am assuming you didn't miss what happened when Moses did come in. |

Poor delivery after poor delivery. Very few chances created. This is the problem. Pedro, Willian, Moses all make poor decisions on the ball. |

BlueAngel444: - doesn't have to be more clinical?
I agree that Oblak was in form yday but 5 shots on target from Morata, was too much. Yesterday he was unlucky and as much as I disagree with Airmark , I don't wish to watch such luck again.
Does Morata have to be more clinical? Well, what i can say is Morata has, and could increase more, his shoting technique and pray that the one uses beats the GK.
Beside he has the chances to develop and do well, Nihilist only mentioned the big chances and I know goals can come from anywhere so Morata can improve. Chelsea has 254 chances in both EPL and UCL while City has 255. Our wingbacks, midfielders need to start shooting well. No, to the first question. That was in response to the first sentence in the post I quoted. |

Nihilist: Matching the man city strikers isn't enough though if the volume of chance creation is not the same
Look at it this way.
Aguero has converted 8 big chances for City this season
Gabriel Jesus has also converted 8 big chances
Morata has converted 7
On the face of It, Morata can be said to be matching the output of the each of the city strikers, but here's the kicker.
City have converted 16 of their big chances through Aguero and Jesus alone
Chelsea have only converted 7 through Morata.
So not only are City creating more chances, their combined strikeforce is scoring more goals.
We create half as many chances as City, and their strikers combined have scored twice as many goals as our only striker.
It's not a stretch to conclude that Morata has to up his efficiency in front of goal. It's not enough to match strikers who see double the big chances you do and can afford to be a little profligate.
You have to maximise the opportunities that come your way because they are fewer and less frequent than the competition gets. What you are explaining here is a strategic/tactical/technical problem and not a Morata problem. City converted 16 of their big chances through two prolific strikers. Remove Jesus and replace him with Willian and there is no point to make. It will be Aguero on 8 (hypothetically) and Morata on 7. But with only half the chances created. That's the fact. Could Morata score more goals? Of course, everyone can. If he did though, he would be the best striker in the world by a mile, going by numbers and CCC rate. The fact that we are talking in this vein emphasizes my point. He is doing seriously well. So there is no problem at this moment in time. At least not a Morata one. What we need, is to find our own Jesus and then covert more chances. And not saddle Morata solely, with the responsibility of converting more chances. |

Nihilist: Actually,I think there's a lot of sense in what Airmark is saying
Mancity have created 63 Big Chances in Total this season
Chelsea have created 33 in the same time period.
If City are creating around double the chances we create, then surely our main striker has to be more clinical in front of goal, if we are to try and keep pace with them? No he doesn't. Because it is only partial acknowledgement of the actual facts. If anything, the numbers posted above show that Morata is doing actually, fantastically well, matching the output of City's top strikers in as many games but with only half the chances created. This is the fact! |

airmark: Salient questions should always be asked when flaunting stats up and down. They sure should. However, missing chances has so far not been a problem for us this season. Correct me if I am wrong. I don't remember being behind City because of missed big scoring chances. When did this become a problem to lament about? As far as I am concerned, the misses yesterday should be considered as exactly what they are - a singular event that needs no escalation at this moment in time. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 12:30pm On Dec 06, 2017 |
BlueAngel444: Should Chelsea just stick with Batshuayi? Get midfielders instead and better AM options. Yes I do. I think splashing on an extra striker will create more problems than solutions, without necessarily increasing goal-scoring stats. We need more solid/dynamic midfield options, one more dynamic winger and like you said, better AM options. |

cstr1000: Abeg Belotti is a better goal scorer.
Put Belotti in this Chelsea team and you would have a goal scoring monster. Not in a 3-5-2. The 3-5-2 makes attacking play narrow and as such, you need players with quick feet and swift decision making, to break down the packed defensive opposition. The reason Morata even finds space and chances to miss in the first place is because of his intelligence and movement off the ball. The same cannot be said about Bellotti. In a 3-4-3, things might be different. However, we realise now that we have a weak attacking midfield and as such, we need to feature Fab for creativity. But we can't against big teams. So we have to play a 3-5-2, sacrifice a bit of width for solidity in midfield, by sticking Bakayoko/Drinkwater in there. This means that the two upfront must be able to do it on their own, mostly. Bellotti might struggle in this role finding spaces in the EPL, let alone finding chances. Morata/Hazard have not struggled so far. |

BlueAngel444: Batshuayi is improving and for someone who doesn't play regularly, well you get, not many sub strikers would perform better than him, not even Llorente.
I don't even know of any striker better than Batshuayi off the bench.
Maybe Paco, not even sure Mandzuki, Giroud, not even Sturidge. Not many teams have what Man City have in Aguero and G.Jesus. This is a very valid point. This is why I don't get on the Batman bashing. Unless I have forgotten, I don't know of a better striker off the bench than him. |

airmark:

Well laid placing ko, well laid locationing ni. Na today dem dey dink ball to beat an on-rushing keeper, already on his way down ?
That's how you were blaming another player for an obvious rudiger error, against roma.
If this post was made by another fan, I wouldn't have replied. Why not blame fabregas for not giving the ball to his head?.
What happened to the assist Moses also gave him in the first half, that he meekly kicked to oblak's hands?
You saw fans complaining about his misses, you would still come to type nonsense to defend him, all in the name of being a Chelsea fan. His misses just left us at 2nd, which might pitch us against the best teams.
Morata as expected, is missing chances more than he scores, that's a fact you shouldn't shy away from and it may hunt us at a point, which some of us foresaw and didn't want. It will be interesting to see CCC figures for top number 9s across Europe and evaluate to see if any of them converts more than they miss. Genuine request. Not trying to stir controversy. |
