Thecassanova: ManU should just beat city. Stopping city's new record is more important than getting closer to 2nd position. At least 8 points away from 1st position on the 16th game makes more sense and easier to catch than 11 points away from 1st, no matter the teams in-between.
You make a lot of sense. The record is more important than catching United. We can catch United by beating them, assuming we both keep winning our games.
I cannot believe that I might have to support United against City. I believe a draw in the best result for us.
If Kante is collecting the ball from deep, and Fab is collecting the ball from Kante, you will need someone to move around again.
See where Drinkwater just collected that Kante pass?
That's what Dembele will still be doing. You can't have 3 people in midfield all asking for ball to feet.
There are several possible tactics within a 3-5-2.
Without getting into the details of that, Bakayoko played this exact role against Atletico some weeks ago. Let's check his numbers for the game. And Bakayoko is supposed to be a poor passer.
Nihilist: Drinkwater was averaging 50+ passes for Leicester
Now he's averaging 15 for us.
It's not a technical issue. Drinkwater knows how to spot a pass.
I am not saying that Drinkwater is a 22-passes-a-game player. I am saying even by his high standards, he is still average. I am saying Dembele in this same 3-5-2 formation will neither be tasked with only making runs, nor end up with 22 passes.
Either way, it is evidence of their average level ability.
Nihilist: Bakayoko offers more mobility than Drinkwater.
Btw Drinkwater has only completed 22 passes today.
Fab and Kante are each on around 60.
I think that the 3rd man in this 352 might be tasked almost solely with generating movement with his runs, rather than getting involved with build-up play
I don't think so. I think it just highlights the limitation in their technical ability and understanding 22 passes is just poor. it's not about what they are tasked with. It means they are always standing on the wrong side of play, or standing in the wrong spots during play.
Nihilist: I don't understand the need to rest Hazard.
Why for?
It's not like he started the season at the same time as these other boys....
The other guys just run around. They are not dangerous. This is one of the few problems we have. If Hazard is not playing, our potency is severely deflated.
Nihilist: I'm not with my laptop now so I can't start digging up posts, but RLC was widely agreed to have flopped his chance with us...because he got chances.
Which is why we were advocating for a loan for him to go and do what his fans had been claiming he could.
With Christensen you're largely preaching to the choir...because I've been convinced about Chris since last season. I was just teasing Griffon on his use of hyperbole.
You are right about the general consensus on RLC's performance. I do not doubt that. What is infuriating is that £75m later and we are left with players who cannot claim to better than the guy who has gone out on loan. Bakayoko, apart from his obvious deficient technique (which I don't want go into now), can be seen strolling around in midfield off the ball - the same thing we criticized RLC about.
No be lie wetin im talk na. Those of us that were privileged to watch him in the academy knew he was special. Those who saw him play RB on his debut for Chelsea knew we had found something.
The fact that he is able to mingle with the big boys of the league at 21 and most importantly, that you can hardly find a decision-mistake made, should announce all about him. This is not all surprising. The surprising thing yet again, is that he had to go out for us to see and believe what he is made of. The surprising thing is that for 3 seasons back-to-back, Chelsea nearly traded him in cash+player deals, for fellas that didn't know what they were doing at 21. Chelsea were yet again on the verge of another episode of mismanagement of talent.
Just like the way I am preaching the Gospel of RLC here every week. While my boy was getting a standing "ovay" performance against Liverpool, playing alongside footballing cretins but bullying the scouse midgets from box to box, DrinkBleach (like Ibime calls him) and Alfa were roaming all over the place yesterday not even understanding their fundamental midfield roles against this same Liverpool.
It's farcical to think both players cost Chelsea £75m, when they have a player, who alongside Kante could no worse, FOR FREE.
