^^ Ok

Drogba had a one on one with Stockdale from a long Luiz pass and he passes to Stockdale
Now that's objectivity.

I feel it should be either Drogba or Torres.

They both have similar instincts and would occupy same spots in the field, Make similar runs and end up having a null effect

Any form of creativity now must come from Mata alone cos Malouda cant really offer much in that aspect
Analysis for a different day. Today, Sturridge was at an all time low. Perhaps a result of believing his own hype.
Taking useless shots when a pass will suffice, trying to force a dribble, touching the ball unnecessarily when a simple touch and move will do.

Stockdale saves a deft Drogba header
Ok. I see how you mention this but failed to mention that Drogba had a one on one off a long pass from Luiz and literally passed it to Stockdale. One on One.

Sturridge offers more than Torres picking the ball from deep and running at the Fulham defence Torres cant do this as well as Sturridge
Except contrary to what you are trying to paint, Sturrige has not done that all game. Instead, he's picked out the more flamboyant option - which often ends up rubbish - than a simple one which many times, would have been more effective.

Who said struggling was a Torres invention? Only that he seemed to have perfected the art.

Missing goals, sulking, and generally being crap are not his inventions either

As we speak, Torres pass to the opponent in an attacking position (Not his invention too)
That's exactly what I mean. Of what use is stating that a footballer passes to an opponent in an attacking position?
Unless you are stating it's the first of it's kind, what is the use?

I have watched Torres for 70mins so far and his ball control has been nothing short of top notch and very far away from someone who's suffering from confidence or "perfected the art" as you put it.

That pal, is not objectivity.

Lampard out . . Malouda in.
Mata will withdraw into central midfield.

A Torres assist would be what the stats tell us but actually watching the game would show us that he struggled to control the ball and it bounced off him fortunately to the path of Mata who did justice to it.

Watching the game does a lot more good than depending on stats sheet.
He did struggle to control the ball - which by the way is not a Torres invention - but not "struggle and struggle" as you put it.
The premise of your post was derogation not objectivity. Name me one footballer who has never struggled to control a simple ball.

Goal Mata after Torres struggled and struggled to control a simple ball
Even though it was a Torres assist and he had his back to goal with 2 defenders on him and Mata was facing goal and had all the right to take a shot. There's nothing wrong is having an opinion but just be objective.

@Ibime

Jeez man! Can't a fella have an opinion about Lamps? For pete's sake this was the statement I responded to.

Andre Uweh:
If Lampard had played that match, Chelsea would have won. Lampard would have scored those two goals missed by Ramires. Lampard should play ahead of Ramires.
Point presented as though if Lampard had played ahead of Ramires, he would have been in those exact spots at those times and would have converted those chances and clearly that's not true. Especially if you consider the events leading up to Ramires' presence in the box
at those times.

I only then went ahead to express my opinion about why Lamps did not play in that game because of the pace at which Spurs play. I have not said Lamps is useless, neither have I said he cannot and will not score. I only said Lamps cannot step up to the pace "anymore" . . .

Just get off Lamps' pola will ya? Jeez!

Meanwhile Merry Christmas to you and what do you think about Milos Krasic?

Yeah right. how many games has Lampard played this season that e won? Those were very terrible misses by Ramires but do you honestly think Lampard could step up to the pace of that game. In a game where guys were matching Danny and Ramires' pace inch for inch. Lampard would not have found himself in the position for the first Ramires miss. Only Bale and Ramires can make up that much ground in a few seconds. Lampard would not have found himself in position for the second miss either cos he would have been taking the free kick in the first place. It was a draw - a well deserved draw.

Lampard hence-forth will only play in games with slower tempo.

I just found out Gary Cahill has only 6 months left on his contract. In that case, the £7m being offered at this point is too much.

Meanwhile JT has been charged and will be prosecuted. Maximum sentence £2,500.

Ibime:
Gary Cahill should be around £7m now, which is a fair price.

David Hoillet - yes, thats my man!

Papers quoting £20m for Rodwell - maybe they think we are Santa Claus. Everton were offering Manure Rodwell for £15m last summer and Manure said no can do. Rodwell couldnt even make Everton team last year.

What happened to the other Ross Barkley boy they quoted for £20m. . . he's now permanently riding bench at Everton.
This is why I love us to steer clear of buying English players from the PL. I'd rather we buy ours. In this age of Henderson costing £20m. Rodwell for £20m is akin to Tores at £50m. Rumours have it that AVB is trying to deploy Jack as a CB. Some Everton fans say he started out as a CB.

I will definitely consider Gary at £7m. I am thinking now that this is due to the fact that Bolton are unable at this point in time to make demands. They have been piss poor.

I really hope we have been looking at Hoilett. We badly need a winger. We still need a creative midfielder though.

Andre Uweh:
I learnt Gary Cahill, Rodwell and Tiote are coming.
For me, first on that list if coming from PL, has to be David Wayne Hoilett. He is relevant to our team - can play across the front - and will not cost a fortune that Gary and Rodwell will.

Also I will rather we put our faith in a young player as the 4th CB. Except the FA Cup, I am not sure we are not going to win anything anyway. Let's call back Tomas Kalas from loan and make him 4th CB (Hutchinson, Chalobah can also be tried in less important games - and there's Bruma in Germany) instead of shelling 20 odd million on Gary Cahill.

According to reports Bolton and Aston Villa fighting for a loan deal for Josh . I say GREAT!!!!
I hope the Aston Villa enquiries are not true. McLeish for attempting to ask for Josh is a no go.
The football they play on that side of town is enough to make Josh begin to play like Malouda.

I will prefer Swansea or Norwich for him now. The only reason I don't want Bolton is because of the pressure on the team as they face relegation. It could work wonders for him and make him tough or it could be too much pressure for his age.

Van Der Wiel claiming to have agreed terms with Valencia.

I trust AVB has some secret targets lined up cos these two were rumoured to be our main targets in January.

All those Chelsea fans looking down at Napoli, heaven help us.
I hope AVB has his eyes on talents already lined up because these are the sorts we should be looking for.

Thanks to all the Torres' arguments.

Mod, give us a new thread.

@nateevs,

Early days yet. I see City losing steam soon.
At least let's challange for the title till the last day.
CA won it in 2009 because we kept pushing and took advantage when United went to sleep.
Like I said, it depends heavily on what happens in January.
We may not replace Anelka and Alex with quality signings.
Even if we do, unless they are Mata, there is no guarantee they will walk straight into the team.

However if we don't do serious business in January (and by serious business, I don't necessarily mean spending buck loads - just quality signings), we "DEFINITELY" won't be contending for the title.

There will be off days for the likes of Mata, Danny, Ramires and Romeu.
I kid you not, without these four guys being in top form every single minute of the season, we will struggle to beat Bolton.
You know though, that those four are never going to be up for it every time.
That's why we will not be in contention for the title.

And trust me, I am a positive person.

@Diva.

I will be hoping City cop all points. There's no benefit for Chelsea if City don't win.
Unless we make a massive overhaul in January, I do not believe we are in contention for the title.

Arsenal and Spurs are genuine contenders for CL contenders and the further away we can be from them, the better.
That's why City must win

Let's seriously hope so.

BTW, i believe every manager should have an extra sub till the end of the game.
You can bring him on as a time wasting tactics. Our man just loves to tinker, Mr Tinkerman.
Naah. He is no where near Tinkerman trust me.
I can make a case for him that the quality of the subs is not good enough.
Then again, he must know the quality and be aware at all times what they can and can't do.
Either way he was naive.

I mean there's a reason has not played forever. If anyone had a problem with it, it was clear to see today.

If we play like this on Thurs, we will go home with a basket of goals,
I was shocked when Cech took a knock and yet AVB was still thinking of bringing in Malouda.

FFS, watch how the player progresses.
You might need to have another goalie and what happens?

This is what you're taught in Manager 101
Infact, tactically or otherwise, the introduction of Malouda could not be justified at that moment.
It would have made more sense to bring on Torres.

One massive problem we have is that we have made a habit of investing in the first 11 and neglecting the squad.
We bring on a player and it's a shocking difference in ability.
Why are they there in the first place.

City will beat Arsenal and the win over them (City) would not not matter anymore.
All the hard work undone and we'll be looking for confidence into the game on Thursday.

Both played and offered nothing,so I wonder why you want to heap the blame on one particular player.
debosky:
Calm down Nateevs - the whole side had no shots on goal up till Sturridge's goal, including when Mata was on the pitch. So Mata could not create one chance for a striker to shoot on goal for the entire first half? I don't particularly subscribe to midfielders having shots on goal, but when you are praising Mata when he was shyte today, I take exception to that.

Wigan created more chances than Chelski
- that is as much an indictment on Mata as on anyone else.

Wigan brought on two forwards and gave it a real go - that's why things worsened. The biggest threat was Sturridge and he should not have been taken off. Mata was as useless as Lampard in this particular game.
Ok. I calm down! Mata was rubbish too. Very rubbish.
However you get where I am going. With Mata on, there's was a chance of keeping possession.

If Lamps stayed on, Mata may as well have stayed on.

Nateevs you need to gain some perspective about Mata though - was Mata not on the pitch with no shot on goal all first half? Did Mata have anything to do with the goal? It was Cashley to Sturridge for the goal.

Mata was anonymous as all the rest of the Chelski side were today - Sturridge saved your blushes with a moment of individual brilliance.
Are you phucking kidding me? Shot on goal?
Did you see how many passes Mata was alone helping the team string together?
You think I subscribe to midfielders having a shot on goal. . . It's immaterial!
Arriving late into the box is bullshit when the team cannot string passes.

If Mata was that anonymous, how come it all broke down when he left?
I am not saying he was at his best but he was miles better than the next best in midfield.
You don't take him out because his presence is lethal.

This is phucking Wigan for heaven's sake.
Lamps out and Ramires in. return to a midfield that works.
