Chelsea should have walked away from the deal when Pool were holding on for 50m. The initial bid Chelsea put in was 30m. Even then 30m was too much for the Fernando at that moment in time. Chelsea could have argued they were buying his potential.

However, when pool started asking for 50m, Chelsea should have walked away. No way is he worth 50m even if he scores 30 goals next season.
