Elders in the house help me look into this questions
QUESTION 1
In the first sample, to get the top right number,
You add whatever number you have on the bottom right to the number that is opposite it(top left) and then you multiply by the bottom right number again.
From 1st diagram,
bottom right = 3
number opposite(top left) = 1
3+1=4
now, this 4 will be multiplied by bottom right(3) to get top right = 12

Again, (7+2) x7 = 63
and again, (5+5) x 5 = 50

To get the bottom left number,
You do (bottom right) - (top left)
Whatever number you get, you then multiply by itself to get bottom left
E.g 3-1= 2
2 x 2= 4
In second one,
7- 2= 5
5x 5= 25
in third one
5-5 = 0
0 x0 = 0
Solution to given question
(X+3)x X= 40
X(X+3)=40
X2+3X=40
X= 5 BECAUSE 25 +15= 40

Answer= 5

QUESTION 2
This one is straight forward. 2 numbers at the bottom when multiplied will give top left
X x 3 = 21
x= 7
Answer= 7

Haha. Bro, you can imagine! A moderator that ought to be as civil as possible when attending to questions from forum users, knowing fully well that the forum users have varying comprehension of some of the NL lingua.
A telecoms customer service rep will never shout/insult a caller no matter what the case, insult, vernacular etc. The worst they will do will be to transfer the caller to another rep! Simply because they are trained to do so.
As for the mods on here... I reserve my comments. cool
This one is so terrible
I've been seeing a lot of back and forth with phone battles in here. I knew something was fishy when the Xiaomi thread was unjustly deleted. The bitter truth is that Tecno and Infinix manufacturers paid so much for marketing and that's why sometimes you see their threads being moved to the front page. They also pay all those phone reviewers money to do a video and before you say Jack, it is already on the front page because money has exchanged hands. I don't know how much they pay though.

For a long time, Xiaomi brand had people promoting the brand even without being paid. Reasons being that they are having a good experience with the phone....which is an absolute truth. For example, I use the Redmi note 7 pro and as I talk to you, I don't even know where my charger is because this thing barely goes down. Moreover, it never gets hot even when charging. The charging itself is super fast. The speed is excellent with no lag or anything. The screen is a gorilla glass 5. I don't have a single iota of scratch on it and so many other things. I also have a 6 gig Ram and 128gig storage. Haba! I convinced some of my colleagues also and they bought the brand. Mind you, I made a research for more than 1 month before buying and no regrets.

Back to the Mod..... They've been completely overwhelmed by the sudden change of table and I think the pay masters are beginning to query why the sponsored posts are not seeing the light of the day. So, this is part of their own way of handling the situation by deleting Xiaomi threads and banning XiaomiNigeria for opening a harmless post and asking harmless questions.

Modified : I just received android 10 update. Another plus to Xiaomi

How many threads has the OP created and show me a place in the Nairaland rules that says there is a cap to the amount of threads you can create. Now, the Op's account is no longer available. Was he deleted??

Your offence may be your deficiency in understanding the English language.

You registered yesterday and created FIVE TOPICS successfully, and those topics are still standing, you made posts which were untouched. It is possible that you tried to create more topics but got flagged by the server and it would have shown you the reason for the restriction and I believe you can read and understand simple English because that's the language in use, I do not understand why you're trying to play the victim card by calling out the mods.
In your best interest, do not tow that line.

Also take your time to read the nairaland rules.

And as for those that have been liking your post and using it as an excuse to feed their vulgarity, your compliments are acknowledged.
This is a very unprofessional reply. Why are you so bitter? Why the unnecessary insult?

Cc.naturalwaves,Mr shape etc
Everything on the left when added together must be equal to everything on the right when added together.
E.g
In the first sample,
LEFT COLUMN..3+2+7= 12
RIGHT COLUMN..1+6+5= 12
So, everything is just addition and subtraction.
Use this knowledge to solve others.
I hope this helps!

I think it is your own IQ that is very low. This was not what the OP asked the lady to do. The OP gave his age in days and expected that the said lady could get the year equivalent but she could not do that. He did not ask her to calculate his days on earth to get number of years. Do not misquote people. Your action shows you have a very low IQ. Moreover,I do not think there is anything bad in what he did. It may be just for fun or game.

Are you sure? Can you take a snapshot of the question? If they are taking it randomly, there won't be need for Mr. A and Mr. B then. The question will just read that... What's the probability of selecting 10 numbers that aren't same from 49 numbers. Please take a snapshot of the original question. A lot of info is not clear.

thank you God bless you, but why is OC = 14 - r
Reemeber that it is a quadrant and O is at the Centre of a circle. Any straight line drawn from the Centre of the circle to any part gives the radius. If a straight line goes from O to any edge, it is same as the Radius of the circle. Thus, that line from O to the front of that arrow is is also the Radius. We know the Radius should be 14 in all but there is a small r which covers part of the length. So, OC will be 14 - r. Do you understand??

Pls I need solutions to question 12
Calculate the area of the quadrant to start with because you will still need it.
Area of a quadrant is (1/4) pi x R 2
Area of quadrant = (1/4)X(22/7)X14 X 14
=154cm2

To get the radius of the small circle, check the attached image and see how it was drawn
OC= (14-r)
(14-r)2= r2 + r2 from PYTHAGORAS THEOREM
(14-r)2 =2r2
14-r=r x sqrt(2)
rx sqrt(2)+ r = 14
r(sqrt of 2 +1)=14
r=14/ [sqrt(2) +1]
r= 5.799cm

Thus,area of small circle = 22/7x 5.799 x5.799 = 105.689cm2

Area of the shaded part = Area of quadrant - Area of small circle
= 154 cm2 - 105.689cm2
= 48.3cm2

that's your school and your level students though.
I'm in mathematics Dept as well, we offered almost the same courses with the computer science students from 100L to 200L, but us (mathematics students) used to offer some courses outside mathematics and computer science, we offered courses like Operation research, statistics, and zoology in our first year which computer science students didn't offer them. Guess what, CSC courses are not that hard, my lowest grade in Computer science courses is B. Is it the programming that is hard or the binary system grin abi GATES AND CIRCUIT. In mathematics Dept in my uni, our curriculum is bit harder than that of CS.
I get you.
The computer science lecturers may not deploy it in full force.
Computer science is one of the courses in Nigeria with the most incompetent set of lecturers. Government needs to sack at least 80% of all computer science lecturers. In my own school and time, maybe we were just a bit lucky.

It is a GMAT test past question.15 minutes....Lol that's almost the time for the whole test....seems the only green flag is to have crossed the question before.
I also noticed in your solution that y:z=9:8 is z:y=9:8 and z-y=1 as there is a discount
I meant, discount value is 1/9 of the selling price not marked price.

Talking about the question. I spent about 15 minutes looking for the best approach that will make anyone understand. The question can be solved under 2 minutes.

In Gmats, you can spend 3 minutes on some questions and 15 seconds on others. You have to know how to work smart. So, if for example, you have 60 minutes for 60 questions, 1 question can take you 4 minutes and some other questions can take you 15 seconds. Questions have varying levels of complexities. You must be able to decipher well.

If you want to get discount
You will do the mafjed price (z) - selling price (y)
That's the discounted amount.

the correct answer is option B [/b]
Thanks natural waves.How come it is an objective question.Am asking because of how long it will take to do all these
You are welcome.
Where did you get the question from? It depends
I know what they do in some places is to memorise the process and then start solving any question of this form in a very short time.
Do you know that because you know the method now, you can solve any question on this under 1 minute if it follows the same pettern?
Just look for your sp:cp ratio and get your %
do same for discount:sp and get your % and you are good to go.
If one is just seeing such for the first time, it will take a while o.
Do you know that I spent at least 15 minutes on this question trying to look for the best approach that will work?

Pls I need help with this
Cost price of 12 Oranges is equal to the selling price of 9 Oranges and the discount on 10 oranges is equal to the profit on 5 oranges.What is the percentage point difference between the profit percentage and discount percentage?
A. 20
B. 22.22
C.16.66
D. 15

SOLUTION
Let the cost price of 1 orange be = x
Let the selling price of 1 orange = y

From 1st statement,
12x = 9y
x/y = 9/12
x:y = 9:12
x:y = 3:4
This implies that the ratio of cost price to selling price is 3:4
Thus, ratio of selling price to cost price (y:x) is 4:3
This will require a bit of thinking hereon.

For every 3 things you buy, you sell at a value of 4. Profit is (4-3= 1).This means that your profit is actually 1/3 of your c.p
Thus, % profit = 1/3 x 100 = 33.333%

PART 2- Discount on 10 oranges
Let the marked price be = z
marked price of 10 oranges = 10z
s.p of 10 oranges = 10y (Recall that s.p =y)
Thus, Discount = 10z-10y

PART 3- Profit on 5 oranges
Profit on 5 oranges will be s.p of 5 oranges - c.p of 5 oranges.
Thus, profit on 5 oranges = 5y-5x

FROM QUESTION,
Discount on 10 oranges = profit on 5 oranges
Thus,
10z-10y = 5y- 5x
Recall that, x= (9/12)y from equation 1
10z-10y=5y-5(9/12)y
10z= 5y-(45y/12) + 10y
120z= 135y
8z=9y
y:z = 9:8
y-z = 9-8 = 1
This implies that discount value is 1/9 of the marked price.
Thus, discount % = (1/9 x 100) = 11.111%

Finally, % point difference between the profit % and discount % = 33.333% - 11.111% = 22.222%. Thus, the correct answer is option B
