alanto:You have a serious ©omprehension problem. How was Governor Peter Mbah discredited in the article? This is a wake-up call for all rich investors, including wealthy Enugu investors to tap into the power business. While Peter Mbah is doing well in Enugu, I must warn that a huge IGR is not progress because you don't even know how much taxes people have to pay for the state to have that revenue. Huge IGR means excessively taxing people and businesses. |
Admittedly, one of the positive steps Former President Buhari and his successor took for the betterment of Nigerians was signing a bill that would decentralise power distribution, thereby allowing state governments and private players generate, transmit and distribute power to end users. In Imo State, Governor Hope Uzodinma has reached an agreement with Madkour Group of Egypt to supply 24/7 electricity to Imo people before the end of 2025. The power poles of the Egyptian engineering company are all over strategic locations in Owerri. The idea, according to the governor, is to buy gas from Anoh power plant in Ohaji/Egbema and feed now rehabilitated 380 MW Egbema power station. In Anambra State, Mr. Obi Jackson is already working on his 1500MW gas-fired power plant that can supply the entire state of electricity. In Abia State, Processor Barth Nnaji has already built 141 MW Geometric power. Although 141 MW is not a lot, but it is a good start. While I don't expect Ebonyi State to invest in any independent power projects, I don't expect that from Enugu. It's even more worrying that Enugu has massive untapped coal mines. I thought the world had outlawed power generation through coal mines, but China is still investing in clean energy generation using coal. My question now is, "Why are the Enugu State government and rich Enugu people not exploring that avenue?" Does it mean that the state plans to rely on this national grid that's largely unpredictable and collapses every now and then? |
Anywhere you go and you don't see an Igbo man, you should leave because nothing is happening there. With all due respect, that statement makes no sense, especially coming from the Igbos themselves. Okay, let me be fair here. This ideology probably worked in the past when the Igbos left our region in their masses in search of greener pastures immediately after the Civil War. However, over the years, the Igbos have significantly rebuilt their homes. Does it not now make sense that Igbos should always think home and never get comfortable in their host communities? Igbos should stop asking for fairness and justice from the Nigerian state because such words don't exist in her lexicon. For instance, look at the Niger Delta region. A region that has fed the country for decades. What did they get in return? 13% petrodollar derivatives, land degredation and water pollution. Do you think that any of the major ethnic groups would've accepted this from Nigeria if they were in the position of the Niger Delta region? Your guess is as good as mine. Personally, I find it annoying when Igbos come on social media to cry that we are hated. Despite these regular outcries, go to Lagos and Abuja and see the way Igbos are still building there. You people don't want to learn and will learn the hard way anyways. Start thinking home. There's no honour whatsoever in leaving one's home. Our people need a mentality shift. Nobody will build your home for you. Instead of building a home you only visit once in a blue moon in the South East, why not consider opening a branch of your business over there? Grow it gradually until you return home. In life, people only respect those who they consider more superior (think of black/white relationship) - nobody will ever respect you if they consider you a leech. A word, for the wise, is enough! |
learn2change:Hello Sir, Hope you are doing great today. Applications sent to your HR and Admin email accounts don't deliver. Thank you. |
Good morning, guys. Hope you are doing great today. I need a rockstar digital marketer with extensive experience in the space to work on a strategy that can potentially earn him/her 100k if it goes well. It just requires your ideas; you won't get involved in the process. Please I don't need regular people who are just getting started. I need someone who has managed an entire DM pipeline, converting leads to paying customers using multiple DM channels. If you have done this in the past and have some proof, share it with my via DigitalNature@yahoo.com. This is more like a DM consulting role for an expert who has driven an entire process before, converting leads into paying customers for products or services. I'll get in touch with you if you are a good fit. If you didn't hear from me, please consider your application unsuccessful. |
I noticed that the Nairaland job section is extremely scanty these days. It's looking as if no new jobs are being created in the country. Are business owners losing hope in the country, selling off their companies and relocating abroad? Why is it that we don't have regular people posting about openings in their offices here anymore? It seems only the Politics section is active on this forum now. That wasn't the case in the past. |
Baller234:Thank you for your quick reply. I am using AVITS for my visa application. Do I need to send an email to any office to ask for this priority interview? If yes, which office? Again, I haven't done this before and I am being careful so I don't make mistakes. So sorry if the question sounds basic, repetitive or annoying. |
Good morning, house. I am doing this myself and I am about to pay my visa fee. Please I want to know how to get a priority interview invitation for a student whose program starts this August. Looking forward to your reply Cc Efetobore1980 |
Hi Guys, Hope your day was good. There's a job space we rarely talk about in this country and that's the foreign mission. If you go to embassies and consulates of countries in Abuja and Lagos respectively, you see Nigerians working in such offices. Although such administrative roles are often advertised online, landing such jobs is almost impossible. If you apply, they rarely get back to you. Sometimes, their regret emails drop within 24 hours. So, how do Nigerians who work as admin staff get such jobs? This question has gained urgency because foreign missions even pay better than international oil companies. In fact, the benefits attached to such jobs are similar to those some of the best overseas jobs attract. Do you work there or know someone who works there? How did you/they get the job?

Hello, Nairalanders! Nowadays, it's not uncommon to see Nigerians with digital skills sign up on freelance platforms where they meet foreign companies to work for one and earn in USD. These digital skills include writing, digital marketing, affiliate marketing, software development, website development, online consultancy, etc. However, these freelance marketplaces are increasingly becoming saturated, making it extremely difficult to land freelance projects. Some of us were fortunate to earn some good money when things were better and have tried to use the opportunity to switch to a full-time remote role but it has been extremely difficult. Have you been fortunate enough to get a full-time remote role from Nigeria? If so, how did you do it? What tricks worked for you? Please share them with us.

Wahala no dey finish for this country. Those intakes who were framed and incarcerated by influential men will visit those men and deal with them ruthlessly. ![]() |
Hi, Nairalanders. Hope your day is going well. I want to visit a country outside West Africa where I will need a visa to visit from Nigeria. This is mainly for knowledge and tourism purposes. I wanted to visit South Africa (to see Mandela's house) or Egypt (to tour the Great Pyramids of Giza). However, I have seen lots of negative reviews from Nigerians who complain that Egypt and South African embassies in Nigeria always delay their visa processing. Whereas they promise to process their visas in weeks, they don't get responses in months. Please what country would you recommend? I want to know countries I don't have to wait for long to get their decision or those that won't reject my visa application. Do you still consider South Africa and Egypt good options and why? |
Blessing604:Them never invite you for test you don dey find past questions ![]() |

Benwallt:You are silly and sick at the same time. Go and eat your agbado. I hope y'all are feeling the heat. |
Foodstuff should be expensive in Lagos more than anywhere else in Nigeria. I don't believe that South East is better than the North Central though. This report is just an assumption. |
