I guess you are the only person on nairaland who doesn't know Asha90. He has up to 5 moniker he uses to insult everyone here.

I don't see why parents of this generation still back on tribal differences in marriage matters. I was in your shoe some years back but I have to let go of the relationship. I dated this Ibo girl for 12 years and was thinking of proposing to her on our 12th year of courtship when she broke the news of her dad not in support of the relationship and she was asking what is my take on it. I told her bluntly to go with whatever her mind chooses and she went with her father's mandate. As I am writing to you now she will be 31 this year and not in any serious relationship, I am not making gest of her but her father brought this into her life. By the grace of God I will be settling down with my Oyinbo Canada in July. I don't really know what to advise you but do what you know is best for you and the most important thing seek the face of God in this situation and all will be well with you. Goodluck in making your choice.

You deceived and wasted 12 years of a precious girl's life, and you even have the guts to tell the world? God of love will judge you

How on earth was she supposed to know you would propose to her on your 12th year of relatnshp?

I put it to you that you just fooled her for 12 years!
I just pity some girls that guys like you use love to deceive...smh
Family / Re: Ethnicity Difference: Should I Stay Or Just Move On Already?? by Nature129(m): 11:44am On May 26, 2016
OP, you should quietly move on

I don't blame our dear Igbo parents though - they can never forget what "Nigerians" did to them during the Biafran war. Sadly, they are even passing the hate down on us the younger generation.

Had it not been that the Igbos are being "forced" to stay with Nigeria, I don't think we would have been answering Nigerians today because, obviously, most of our parents in the east don't like it.

Yes, they remember the immeasurable losses ( human beings, properties, wrecked lives, etc) they suffered during the war, and they tell us every day...smh

OP, move on or stay back and fight a losing battle

Education / Re: 10 Common Mistakes And Confusing Words In English by Nature129(m): 5:15pm On May 24, 2016
mondob2k:
What about been and being? Anyone?

Just use this simple trick:

When you use "been" is ONLY when you use has/have:

Eg, 1. He has been to London.
2. They have been on this project for ages

Second Use: Notice also that you can use "been" in:

2. He's been to London.

In the last example he's means he has, so technically, it's the same rule applying.

Now, "being" is used where has/have are NOT used.

Eg, 1. I'm just being myself
2. Being nice doesn't mean being stupid

If you noticed, there were no has/have etc. in the last sentences.

Hope this helps...

Vickyydera:
the only English that confuse me is "have" and "has", "go" and "went" did you went to sch today? did you go to sch today?

yesterday was so funny, I spent 6 hours trying to spell "beneath" cheesy Imsu strike is really affecting me lolz.

Have is used with plural (pro)nouns while has is used with singular (pro)nouns.
Eg: 1. Fashola and Ngige have been declared ministers.

2. We have dogged spirit

NB: Notice that Fashola and Ngige are 2 persons(plural noun) hence; the use of "have" and 'we' is a plural pronoun too.

ALSO,

For "has"

1. Fashola "has" been declared a minister.
2. He has given me the money

NB: Fashola is one person (singular noun) while "he" is a singular pronoun hence; the use of "has"

But this rule changes when it is used in bigger concepts like unaccountable noun, places, etc. Here, you can apply either of has or have.

Eg, Chelsea has/have signed a new manager
Lagos have/has the highest population in Nigeria.

ALSO, PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS RULE CHANGES WHEN YOU ARE CONSIDERING FIRST PERSON, SECOND PERSON SINGULAR/PLURAL.

Finally, whenever you use "did' in English, the next tense MUST be present tense.

Eg, Did you go (NOT went) to school yesterday?

Did you see your mom yesterday?

This is the best I can do; My fingers are hurting already.

Did you learn it? grin

Hope this helps...grin

Oluwaxhango:

Is 'ama' correct, in a way like 'ama big boy' n 'I'm a big boy'
:
:
N watcha and ain't..
Thnks..

I believe "ama" means "I'mma." Well, watcha, wanna, gonna, ain't, etc, according to my American sources, are words used on the streets, but because of their widespread use, they are, gradually, being accepted in mainstream American English.

So, being "correct" in this context depends on individual's use and acceptance. But I strongly advise you don't use such words when you are writing official papers like exams, proposals, and projects.

Hope that helps...

Give us an example pls..

I'm is the short form I am. It is used to start a "sentence." Eg, I'm a boy meaning I am a boy.

BUT Am is used to start a "question." Eg, Am I your mate?

Lol...this people just want to deliberately destroy this country. Arrest or even mere invitation of GEJ will bring about the end of this country!

Stop spewing trash behind your computer. Who exactly will destroy the country? If EFCC has cases against GEJ, they will invite him to exonerate himself and nothing will happen. Capish?

Just take to the street to protest against GEJ's invitation by EFCC and see how you'll be wasted like chicken. We must all work together to fix this country or die like fools.

If you like Nigeria, beckon on EFCC to investigate cases against PMB's allies like Fashola and Amaechi and bring them to justice not threatening to destroy the country because anti-graft bodies are doing their work

‪#‎OCCUPYINGMINDS‬: ‪#‎NIGERDELTAMILITANTS‬...Every time a Crude Flow Station is Destroyed by Militants in the Niger Delta, The Environment is Damaged; Our Land is Polluted and Our Communities are subjected to more hardships...Let the Bombing Continue, who will lose?...The Government of PMB is dragging the Nigerian Economy away from Crude Oil; Lagos State has Joined the League of Oil Producing States and the Northern Part of Nigeria whose Reserves have been cynically suppressed over the years will begin production within the next months to two years. With time, We from the Niger Delta would have destroyed our Lands so much that future generation will curse us their Fathers and Mothers for killing their dreams. Let the Stupidity Continue my People...Don't stop the blowing up of pipelines.
Everyone of us thinks that a Blown Pipeline is an attack on PMB and His Government of Change...Insanity on display I must say. Kano and Lagos are Leading the way in Tomatoes Paste Production and Tomatoes don dey scarce shebi? The Northern Landmass alone is about 4 times the entire Landmass of the SS and the SE; Agriculture will revolutionize the North within the next decade...We from the Niger Delta will use our Oil to soak Garri and we think we are punishing Nigeria? Think Again, but Kontinu.
I have been reliably informed, that the More Pipeline we blow-up, the more the Resolve of this President to get the Nigerian Economy off oil...The More the Presidency blocks loopholes; The More the desire for alternative Revenue; The More the Nigerian People get pissed off by our Stupidity. The Future is Lost to the Greedy, Selfish Demons of Today. Blow Pipelines if you can, Nigeria is moving on. We have a President who is capable of making the hard decisions and willing to firmly sustain those hard choices. Blow Pipelines abeg. Let Nigeria Suffer and Let our land be wasted.
