Tnx alot bro...main reason why I'm switching is because my school offered general biochemistry (I.e both medical and industrial). I did well in most clinical electives and i fell in love more with the medical line when I did my I.T in am hospital , this itself was a drive for me. As a matter of fact low gpa also played a role in d switch of major coz nursing also compliments biochemistry and nursing is more of clinical. A degree in Nursing plus my former when seeking for a job here would be an edge I believe. TWoods: You never know until you try. Your gpa is low, so that limits your options. You also need to convince a VO why you’re changing your major to get another bachelors degree. Are you changing because of a low gpa and this low employment prospects in your home country? |

I'm trying to verify for the very last time b4 I reg for my SAT from y'all...please your candid advise again. I'm a graduate of Bch with a low cgpa 2.07, I intend studying nursing. Checked out schools in the states and requirements and noticed the least schs opted for a 2.5 gpa. 1) I intend taking the SAT and applying to d schs of my choice for B.sc in Nursing. 2)I'd certainly declare my first degree when filling my D'S 160 form . 3)spoke with a friend offshore and he said since the second degree I'm going for is different from my first I can continue with my application but i should look for a correlation between the two courses. Having said all this I really hope I'm still on a good track and this won't be an issue?.im asking coz of the vast knowledge and advices on here .....Thanks |

If my school wants to send my high school transcript , would they first send it to WES by mail or how dp they do this for evaluation to an American 4.0 scale or would the transcript be mailed officially to the school coz most schools I'm applying too requested for an official high school transcript? @josh |

Thanks alot bro.. .God bless u plenty... Josh4wod: 1) NO 2) You need a strong conviction (You may as well tender your reason since you're not going for the same degree you failed in. 3)Would have suggested that but you will be asked what you have been doing since you got through with High School. |

Hello house, I need your candid advise please. I am a graduate with a B.sc in Biochemistry, I'm currently serving and would be through with my service by April. I intend taking the SAT Exam by August. The reason for this is because I came out with a very low gpa of 2.07 and therefore no school accepts such gpa in the USA , I intend going for B.sc in Nursing. Here's my question
1). Since i have a B.sc already would this stop me from going to study another B.sc in Nursing? 2). I hope the VO's won't see this as an issue? 3). Should I just apply as a freshman and not tell them I have a degree b4 ? I would be happy to get enlightened on this |

Thanks bro.. The essence for asking is because most of the schools I intend applying to as part of their admission criteria requires an official high school transcript...so I'm pretty confused as to wether it's the evalauated WAEC result sent to WES or my sch has to send a high school transcript and its via which means? folmus: I think those that use WES can help you. What I know is WAEC sending the results to WES. |

English is not Nigeria's native language , we all have our various native languages depending on your tribe but one can basically say English is Nigeria's official language. folmus: Yes, there are many Nigerians that use English as their first language. However, compare that number to those who can't use it and those that can with limited proficiency even after attending schools up to high schools and universities. While it's also true that there are many Nigerians that have a better command of the language than the native speakers, Nigerians remain non natives. South Africans are classified as natives even though they have other language that they speak. World politics and arbitrary can't be discarded. Europeans with exceptions from the British (UK and it environs in general) are also non natives, even some of them use the language.
World Englishes To better understand the use of English in different countries, Kachru conceived the idea of three concentric circles of the language.
The inner circle represents the traditional bases of English: the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, anglophone Canada, and some of the Caribbean territories. The total number of English speakers in the inner circle is as high as 380 million, of whom some 120 million are outside the United States.
Next comes the outer circle, which includes countries where English is not the native tongue, but is important for historical reasons and plays a part in the nation's institutions, either as an official language or otherwise. This circle includes India, Nigeria, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Malaysia, Tanzania, Kenya. The total number of English speakers in the outer circle is estimated to range from 150 million to 300 million.
Finally, the expanding circle encompasses those countries where English plays no historical or governmental role, but where it is nevertheless widely used as a foreign language or lingua franca. This includes much of the rest of the world's population: China, Russia, Japan, most of Europe, Korea, Egypt, Indonesia, etc. The total in this expanding circle is the most difficult to estimate, especially because English may be employed for specific, limited purposes, usually business English. The estimates of these users range from 100 million to one billion.
The inner circle (UK, US, etc.) is 'norm-providing'. That means that English language norms are developed in these countries – English is the first language there. The outer circle (mainly New Commonwealth countries) is 'norm-developing'. The expanding circle (much of the rest of the world) is 'norm-dependent', because it relies on the standards set by native speakers in the inner circle. |

With all sincerity I'd say this is the first time I ever heard of the HESI A2 exam , I googled it out and I saw it actually consist of various sections just like the SAT but the only difference is the physics section and I'm really not good with physics...
If I get to write this exam would my scores be sent to the schools I choose to apply to like its been done with SAT ...and what's the exam being scored over and what's a good score on the exam ...thanks |
