Which missiles are u even taking abt.. Blowing up Aso rock etc are bluffs and nothing else. You think anybody is ready for war?

The truth is, the bombings happening is already planned. The bombs have been in place before the heavy presence of military. That is why they brag of blowing pipes amidst military presence. Are they invisible?

Bros, forget story, there is no heavy NEGOTIATION going on anywhere... Shebi dem talk say dem no want anything...wetin dem come dey negotiate upon?

Boko haram wey no negotiate, where dem be?
How many u be for East?

U guys underrates the Nigerian army...

Ask Libya, Liberia and other countries they've been for peace keeping. They are stupidly ruthless and trigger happy... Dey will finish everybody!

Yeye...

It's very easy to sit behind your screen and ask someone to shut up, you can go on blabbing on matters you have no idea what they are on, about. Negotiations have been ongoing, only the naive like you will call the threats by an aggrieved people, bluff. Sadly the government doesn't share your opinion.

If OP was aware of the high level negotiations taking place the past few days you just like me should be thanking God that we are all comfortably typing on nairaland. I for one had spent all through yesterday deeply burdened and praying we can all go about our duties today.
It's a good thing of you want to call them cowards pls feel free, for me I remain thankful for where we are currently and hoping the negotiations all fall in place so the country and everyone can move on in peace.

OP is being economical with the truth on the ownership of some of those assets. As an example OML 18 isn't owned perse by Charles rather by Onajite and Brume, formerly managed by Chima Ibeneche from SNEPCO, though Charles is on the board, NCTL / AITEO is not owned by Chike from SNEPCO but he happens to be an appointee to set up the company as well.

Present facts the way they are if you need to, rather than presenting them in a way that they cynically try to prove your point.

Politics / Re: Osinbajo Says FG Consulting On ECOWAS-EU Free Trade Deal – Businessday by NavierStokes(m): 10:52am On Jun 06, 2016
EPA is dead on arrival, the government should focus on the 2014 confab report as that's of higher priority to the Nigerian question.

Even my west African friends all concur that the EPA is a no brainer.
Politics / Osinbajo Says FG Consulting On ECOWAS-EU Free Trade Deal – Businessday by NavierStokes(m): 10:50am On Jun 06, 2016

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said that Nigeria would continue consultations within the country regarding its stance on the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) between ECOWAS and the European Union.

Osinbajo said this at the 49th Ordinary Session of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in Dakar, Senegal, a statement issued by the Vice Presidential Spokesman, Mr Laolu Akande, said on Sunday.

According to him there are ongoing negotiations on it and government is discussing with the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) and some other key economic players about it.

The vice president, who represented President Muhammadu Buhari at the Summit said: “we understand some of the terms of this agreement are capable of restricting manufacturers’ trading activities and we will not want this to happen.”

Osinbajo explained that in the consultation process “it is equally important that as we make the decision, we take into consideration the concerns of these critical stakeholders and tread cautiously.”

He noted that Nigeria had yet to fully endorse the agreement because of those concerns.

While a number of West African nations had endorsed the deal, some, including Nigeria, raised issues regarding the implications of the deal in their commercial activities.

EPA is a free trade deal initialed by EU and ECOWAS negotiators, covering trade in goods and development cooperation.

He added that the Federal Government could not be committed to such an agreement without wide consultations.

He restated Nigeria’s commitment and obligations to the regional body, having recently paid its dues.

This is coming against the background of worries that some of the member-states had not fulfilled their financial obligations.

“We are also very committed to ECOWAS; as the largest economy in the region, we have constantly fulfilled our obligations and we intend to continue to do this,” the Vice President declared.

Presidents, prime ministers and top officials from the 16 ECOWAS-member states gathered in Dakar over the weekend to deliberate on important issues.

The summit, which ended on Saturday, witnessed the inauguration of the new ECOWAS Commission President, Mr Marcel de Souza.

The ECOWAS leaders commended President Muhammadu Buhari, and the nation on the progress recorded against the Boko Haram insurgents.

At the summit, Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf was chosen as the Chairperson of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, taking over from her Senegalese counterpart, Mr Macky Sall.

I get irritated whenever someone says the government hasn't done enough. I've been to bonny (stayed at hospital road), brass (Ben mark hotel), warri (Cyprian hotel refinery road), Escravos ogidigben and Portharcourt and onne. These people have DESOPADEC and the other oil agencies in the other states. They have the NDDC, they have the Ministry of Niger delta. Then they have the office of the special assistant to the President on Niger delta or Amnesty. What the hell else do they want? They give them billions of dollars and Naira every year and they keep squandering it on rubbish. Then they go and plant Dynamites on the pipelines and threaten to blow them if we refuse to give them more! We can't continue living like that! Enough is enough!

Who are the "we"?

I had to delete part of your post to avoid taking up space on the thread, apologies for that.
I agree the government has not done enough, in fact it is safe to say the government has done nothing at all but at the same time I'm speaking from my own point of view which might not be rational to other people, I believe these people have not done enough for themselves too, there is a chain of command, why are they not holding their respective LG and SG by the throat to ensure there is increased government presence in their midst.
Again, maybe because I've the mindset of do what you can with the little you've, I feel they've not put to good use the little they got, I will give you a scenario, I served in a secondary school in one of the Ijaw communities, this is a school that has a single block of 6 classrooms then buildings that housed offices and residential quarters, no laboratory or similar things. Based on what I heard, the community usually has one or two slots with the oil company domiciled there, the community fixes in someone to work, the person gets paid part and remits the other part to the community (this is different from the numerous positions available to indigenes), going by this I expected them to have a certain amount that goes into developing their children vis a vis provision of conducive learning environment since the government at all tiers have failed in their responsibilities, rather what I saw is a case of once the money comes, we divide and eat and wait for the next pay day.
Just maybe my side of the argument is borne out of me being a non indigene of that area but it's an open secret the Nigerian govt has failed her citizens and has failed the South South even more.

Well put bro, just to state educating these children is the duty of the government, reason why it's always important to catch them young because it saves you some avengers in the future. Don't be surprised that the oil company or oil activities has been taking place in that community and the company as part of her CSR hasn't deemed it fit to provide conducive learning environment. The children who weren't educated 20/30 years ago will become the thorn on the flesh of society you find today.
I always say something and in this case its for the oil companies, if you are blessed and you are not a blessing to those around you, then you are a curse and people do anything to break free from curses.
A rich man in the midst of poor people shouldn't consider himself safe.

As regards the bold, I still maintain my stand that the FG is not to be totally blamed, you've to include community Chiefs and excos and the average Niger Deltan youth who has a mindset of receiving crumbs.
1) People complain the FG didn't put in place infrastructures for these people, I agree based on things I saw in my short stay in one of the riverine ijaw communities but how do we explain a situation where youths steal cables that are meant to run electricity into their town? Do we blame the FG for that?
2) Prior to the shut down of whatever is supplying light to the community, I noticed nobody is taking advantage of the almost 24 hours power supply to run businesses that can make money? All I saw were stores selling drinks and some household needs.
3) How do we explain a situation where money that accrue to the community's purse through their dealings with the oil company and related services can not be accounted for?
A lot of things go on in that region and I can boldly say, they've not done enough to help themselves but the FG can also not be left out as she has failed in her duties to her citizens.

Your case in point is one of several, there are communities that have never known what electricity is even till date. I am Niger Delta and felt all was well, my awareness about the region came during a visit sometime ago in the Manchester museum or art gallery (not sure which of them) where George Osodi's work was on display. I broke into tears and was consoled by my girlfriend and other visitors. You can't help but shed a tear. Fast forward years later you go to work in these communities that is home to people and you can barely stay for a few hours and you are itching to fly out. A case in point i recall vividly, was a location where we were working and these little kids came from afar with buckets along the road (the well head was located just at the tarred road) they greeted us, and walked past, you wouldn't believe in about an hr+1/2 or 2 later these kids return with buckets on their heads, and even while driving to the location I didn't recall seeing any houses for a considerable distance. Imagine where children have to walk 3 hr's or more just to get 1 bucket of clean water while they are sitting ontop of a huge reservoir of oil, that particular well i was on, was about 40 years old.

Any one with a heart will know that government owes a lot to these communities rather than peanuts given to their leaders. If government wants to touch their lives they should go ahead and do so rather than give peanuts to their leaders and use that as accused to deny these people of development.
On a final note some friends from these indigenous companies have told me about the wonderful ways they engage the communities for their csrs and they achieve meaningful results that positively impacts on the communities. The government can borrow a leaf or two from there.

At this point President Buhari should do a simple cost -benefit analysis of going after Tompolo and negotiating with the avengers. The cost of maintaining an army down south in the face of dwindling income will be devastating while depleting our armoury. I wonder what scares the northerners on this issue of fiscal federalism. A careful look at the big picture shows that the centre will have more to gain in the long run, if all states are trading in the areas they have comparative advantage, the taxes to the centre will be more considering that the centre will mainly be in charge of making policies and maintaining security.
This current structure/ system only breeds laziness, envy, anxiety and the end product WAR. It can never hold indefinitely, I just hope Buhari realized. The fact that Aguiyi Ironsi put Nigeria into this less doesn't mean years after people get enlightened they shouldn't do some thing about it.

To the issue of pipeline sabotage, I'll advise the security forces to look into those areas where these explosions have been taking place. It's been largely the same areas for the individual companies. Gbaramatu for Chevron, and Ogbainbiri-Tebidaba-cloughcreek for agip.

But e no easy sha, that Tebidaba clough creek axis be like death zone, only mosquitoes soldiers go run. No sane human will want to stay there, so out keyboard warriors can imagine what these host communities go through despite the resources being siphoned from under their feet.
Any one who is human or has ventured into the Niger Delta interiors will not even think twice to show empathy for these communities.

In his fanatical supporters own words "The president does not repeat visits, he already visited Ogoni land in 1984".

This clean-up remains one of the biggest sham these people will ever shore up, it's a pity that Jonathan didn't know how to do fakes not being a politician himself, he was a perfectionist who would want all the details to be taken care of before he acts. This was a project he could have just gone to kickstart with even 1 million naira and if work stops you explain to every one how it is a long term project and you are doing some work in the background until The end of your tenure. The APC understands it and will leverage on that to ride on people's gullibility.

The question I will ask, the clean-up is projected to cost about 1 billion USD, the JV partners will provide say 450million USD and the FG or NNPC has to provide 550 million USD, what plans has the government put in place for funding this sum, rather than deposit 10million usd as a take off sum? When is the next tranche of payments coming in? what's the government's strategy to get the work ongoing when it starts? What is the budget of ministry of environment? What provision is in the budget for this exercise ? It's not enough for the minister to say lack of funding will not stop the exercise knowing fully well there is no plan in place to ensure a continuous clean-up exercise thereby making it a rolling wave project.

Anyways those who will keep falling for propaganda can continue, in this Nigeria I smh for the largely ignorant population that can swallow any news hooks lines and sinkers without doing a critical analysis of the said news
