Agriculture / Re: Black Soldier Fly Larva (BSFL) In Nigeria by Naymie(f): 10:19am On Jul 11, 2018
Hello everyone, I just stumbled on this thread this morning. Please, does anyone know a piggery or poultry farm where I can get BSF larvae in Lagos? Kindly quote this message or send me a mail. Thanks.

TVAofMS:
Does anyone know any seasoned, experienced, and motivated researcher on BSFL who would like to work in a small BSFL start up company in the US? An ideal suitable candidate has to be very interested in this line of work, in addition to having experience doing it. Please kindly respond to this message and then we can start discussing outside this forum. Thanks
Hello, I know this might be coming a bit late. Is the position still open?

Today, I went on an excursion to a friends poultry and pig farm located along Ikorodu-Ijebu-Ode Road. I found Black Soldier Fly Larva crawling away from the manure dunghill to a dry area to pupate. I got so excited.

I was actually planning to import from the US when I'm ready to start working with them. All the documentation I have read about BSF described it in a manner that gave me the impression that this specie of flies have not been migrated to West Africa. (Jason Drew is working and making money from rearing flies in South Africa).

Having see BSFL in the bush at Ikorodu, you should have it in your farm anywhere in the South-West to South-South (rain-forest/tropical zones) as well, if you introduce the right conditions to attract them- a suitable substrate with a fly-attracting odour, some shade over the substrate...

Now, go check the surrounding of your pig or chicken shit dunghill.

If you don't know anything about Black Soldier Fly Larva (BSFL), Google it. Also check for Agriprotein, Enviroflight...
Hello Peterbabs, please do you still have a link to your friend at the said farm?
I'm currently working on a research with BSF and I'd need a steady supply of the larvae. Please, could you help me with your friend's contact?
Thanks in anticipation.

Generally speaking though, it's easier to bag a first class degree in courses that entail calculations than those that don't have calculations. So, I totally agree with some of the courses the OP posted there.

Put simply, it's much more 'easier' for anyone to bag a first class degree in Mathematics/Computer Science, than for anyone to bag that same class of degree in English Language.

right now our schools are trash...strike ridden schools..remember if our schools improve then comprehensive research programmes can be carried out to solve immediate problems bedeviling our country...right now as it is our educational system would kill such brains...reason why many resort to pulling strides abroad than here in nigeria...
You haven't even attempted to answer the question. HOW THEN WOULD THE EDUCATION SECTOR BE REVAMPED? If the brains are kept away, how would the decaying system be salvaged?

these are the kind of brains that should be harnessed and kept in research centers...if nigeria was a normal country a guy like this and many others who are working in shell, chevron and mobil should be working for the government...creating new innovations and solving technological problems in the country in the area of military, agriculture, aero space engineering, and also oil and gas(if only our NNPC can grow some sense)...

our government is so useless that brains like this are allowed to waste away engaging in stereotype jobs or lecturing in our dead schools where strikes are the order of the day...

we have so much resources but we are retrogressing at the speed of light... angry angry angry angry
Wait a minute...if I got you right, you're saying it's wastage for a genius to lecture in 'our dead schools'? Really? Pray, tell me... how then would the education sector be revamped?

Well,to me,it's his brain.
Nothing irritates me more than a dumb guy. I don't even care what he looks like, but if he's smart, intelligent, witty, can sustain a mind puzzling conversation with me and especially make me rack my brain, that's enough to turn me on...i'm so tripping for him big time!!

Those points are fundamental objectives of your gender equality campaign. It is interesting how you choose to alienate them now.
No, women rights protection/empowerment of the women folk and seeking gender equality are very different things entirely,IMO.

No,not all of us. I personally advocate empowerment of the female folk and protection of women rights, but gender equality? No.

Well,we women could go to extremes I know. But even when she hits you, just keep being a gentleman. You can't wield your power against a woman...besides,no matter how hard she hits you it can't be with the same magnitude as when you hit her. Even when it's taken to court, she'd still win because...you see, women would always be the weaker vessels. There's a new zero tolerance law for violence against women,so....
