Sirchiboy:Apologies for my error. |
Sirchiboy: Osashalom:You edited your post. Cos what I read was you going to the mechanic and showing your passengers the price. So I thought you were showing them the price the mechanic asked you to pay. Sorry for your plight. They were supposed to at least pay you for the journey you covered. It's called being human. Just see it as a bad day and move on. |
What was your purpose of showing them price the mechanic asked you to pay? I don't get you. Were you expecting them to fix your car for you? You people should learn to be professional and stop acting emotionally. What you were supposed to do was to apologize to them that you won't be continue because your car has issues. Then you end the ride and tell them how much they're suppose to pay you. I've once been in a danfo that had an issue. What the conductor did was to load us into another bus. Another time I was along Lagos Ibadan Expressway... en route berger, our bus developed issues. The conductor refunded us back our money. You can't expect passengers to bear the cost of your spoilt car. It's not done anywhere. |
Kemadealadire:Exactly what I wanted to say. Cos you're awoken each day with a new harsh government policy that can easily put you out of business. Worse is you can't even analyze or Forcast a futuristic growth because the horrible policies of the present are so overwhelming. Forget all those audio foreign investors you read online. That's just propaganda. The reality is that no foreigner would invest his hard earned money in this country. Cos once you have any little problem with the government, they'll just bring up a policy that would wreck you. Regardless of the hundreds or thousands of Nigerians you have on your pay roll. |
It's like Anambra is fighting hard to overtake Edo state in cultism. Ifite is where Unizik's busiest gate is. It's where 99% of lodges in perm site are situated. So it's obviously a cult related killing. I honestly do not know what youths see in cultism in this 2024 that's making them join. Hundreds die every year, yet more keep joining. What exactly are they gaining from it? |
Mayor21:POS is over saturated. And this might limit his profit, cos almost every provision shop in my neighborhood operates POS as side hussle. |
pocohantas:This is normal in Lagos. Most landlords are wickedly increasing their rents with reckless abandon. There's this family friend (a woman) she used to run a nursery and primary school around Kola. She was telling my dad that her landlord increased her rent by 1m and told her that if she can't pay she should leave. She left and the landlord converted the place to his own school in order to retain her students. Things are happening in this country. |
More than 60% earn less than 300k. Yet inflation keeps rising daily. My landlord sent us a message telling us that our rent has increased. The increment was by 500k. So from next year, we'll be paying an additional 500k to the already existing amount. This is what most Nigerians are going through. That one is just rent, other sectors are experiencing inflation as well. |
Nigeria is a lawless country that's why these loan companies behave however they like. In saner climes, such companies would run down due to the kind of law suit they'll receive from the public. The best is to stay away from them. Cos loan sharks can't give you any tangible money to use to support your business. It's always peanuts with high interest rates. I read one thread around last year where the op was lamenting how he was given 5k to pay back 8k after 6 days. And when he couldn't pay back, they started sending defaming messages to his contacts because of it. What can 5k solve in this economy? That money might not even last a day before you exhaust it. Just stay away from them. |
Manjapa:You can set up a business Center in a university or polytechnic environment. It's very lucrative. All you need are computers, generator, printers, photocopiers...etc. Your 1m budget should be enough. |
mcdreeezy:You did the right thing by refusing to give out her number. It's improper to give out someone's number (whether male or female) to a 3rd party without the consent of the person. If he keeps persisting for the number, you can inform the girl in question. And if she gives you the green light to share her number, you can then go ahead to give it to your friend. If she doesn't, you have no right to give out her number. |
I de mountain like this they pray for her to win sef. Whether she's lgtbw or whatever they're calling it, e no consine me. She must win by fire by force. Cos if Trump wins, it would be easier for a Carmel to pass through the eye of a neddle than for an African to get American visa. |
Gerrard59:See eh, I don't know. That's why I brought it here so that people in the business can give me an insight on whether it's possible to sustain that kind of revenue for a long time in this economy. |
MrPresidon:I agree with you on this. Cos even owners of provision shops within my neighborhood suffer from this credit madness. Most people take advantage of the fact that because they're friendly with you, they can keep collecting provisions from you on credit. Some wouldn't even pay up after months of debt. Thus making the owners of such business to keep struggling to stay afloat. The only way around this is to be very firm with your customers like you rightful pointed out. Cos once they know that you're a no nonsense person, they won't joke with your money. |
GloriousGbola:I agree with you. That's why I brought it here so that I'll hear from experts cos I'm just a novice in the business. The only thing motivating me was the income he told me he was making. |
GloriousGbola:All these budget for odinary dry cleaning business. Anyone who spends this kind of money to follow your budget would never recover his principal even after 10 years. 😏 |
The fear of a coup is the beginning of wisdom. |
Proserpina:I understand where you're coming from. It's so sad to see trust worthy people these days despite our over religious nature. |
pocohantas:The truth is I wouldn't have the time to stay there physically. I just had the motivation to give it a shot based on the income per day the guy told me. That's why I brought it here to Nairaland so that I can know if it's possible for someone to make such amount of money in this economy. I understand how selfish some people can be. And when you hand over your business to them, they'll wreck you. That's why I wanted more information about the business so that I'll be able to decide whether it's worth the stress. |
1. Check crime rates and speak to locals about their experiences. Nigeria these days isn't safe. 2. Look for nearby grocery stores, restaurants, parks, and recreational facilities. This would help you unwind during weekends, public holidays or festivities. 3. Research the quality of local schools, even if you don’t have children, cos one day you would. Also check the proximity from the schools to where you stay and the prices of private schools as well. 4. If you don't have a car yet, check if it would be easy for you to access public transit. (Check the distance from your house to the nearest bus stop) . Most especially if you would be relying on public transport daily for commuting. 5. Consider potential noise from traffic, nightlife, religious worship centers or nearby industries. And decide if you'll be able to cope with them. |
Love800:I do pay deposit for any clothes I give to my dry cleaner those days before I got washing machine. And even if I don't pay deposit, I must make full payment before collecting my clothes. That's how they operate. No dry cleaner would give you your clothes if you haven't made complete payment. Once you start doing that, you're weeks away to the end of your business. |
pocohantas:Omo na anything way go bring better money I de find like this o. I want to boost my income base. Besides if I open the restaurant na you go be my number one customer. 😁 |
Proserpina:No educated hausa person would agree to be hired for menial jobs. Their education is like a golden ticket capable of getting them a job in all federal government parasatals. I was targeting secondary school leavers. Since they would most likely be teenagers, their eyes no go too open like that. |
So I was discussing with someone earlier today and he was telling me that he spends about 24k to dry clean his clothes every weekend. He went on to tell me that his dry cleaner told him that he makes between 70k-100k per day from customers. I know that despite the harsh economy, people still patronize their dry cleaners. But that 70-100k which he told me he's dry cleaner makes is really tempting me to go into the business. I know some dry cleaning services within my neighborhood, and even though they look good and even have staffs which they pay, I can't give a rough estimate of their earnings. That's why I brought it here to seek public opinions from those who might know better; as to whether it's possible to make such money in a day or whether it's as lucrative as it's being projected. Cos I'm already thinking of starting the business and employing people to manage it.

With the ever increasing price of cement, rods and other vital building materials, we should expect more collapses cos engineers would want to cut cost by trying to buy substandard products leading to a total collapse of the entire structure. Recently, I saw a building where the engineers used bamboo instead of iron rods as decking and pillar re-enforcement. The bamboo was placed on the the decking and concrete was poured on it. How long do you think such structure can last before it collapses? |
Omo people are seriously going through a lot in this country. Sadly the government doesn't seem to care. |
superintendents:That's a border community. Most border communities usually experience epileptic power supply. Because the Discos feel that there are less industries situated there. So they barely supply them light. |
superintendents:Where on the mainland do you stay? |
superintendents:I stay on Lagos mainland. And we've had light since afternoon. |
