You can’t sack Sanusi, Okonjo-Iweala –Yakasai From Desmond Mgboh, Kano Sunday, January 15, 2012 • Sanusi Photo: Sun News Publishing More Stories on This Section Elder Statesman, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, has faulted calls on the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, (CBN), Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, and the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, to resign. In a statement on Saturday, the Second Republic Political Adviser faulted those “pushing them to resign their positions on account of the principled and patriotic stand they have taken on the issue of deregulation on Premium Motor Spirit otherwise known as petrol. Alhaji Yakasai recalled that he had to speak against the background of his position as “a patriotic citizen and elderly person who was actively involved in the struggle for freedom and independence on the side of the Nigerian people; and who was consciously guided and had participated in the struggle for the enthronement of democracy and human rights in this country for many decades.” Yakasai, who commiserated with the families of those who lost their loved ones in the fuel hike protests, said that these two patriots have offered unassailable arguments in support of the stand of the government on the issue. “Undoubtedly, there are many other Nigerians who are similarly impressed. It, therefore, behoves those who disagreed with them to offer a superior argument to dislodge the one advanced by the two individuals,” he added. He also expressed satisfaction with the quality of the arguments in the ongoing debate relating to the deregulation as advanced by Sanusi, Okonjo-Iweala and others who share their views. “It is for this reason that I have repeatedly been appealing to Nigerians to bring the vortex of violence to closure and return to the path of reasoning, dialogue and dialectics to arrive at appropriate modalities, processes and procedural strategies to engage the current challenges, deepen our democracy and thrust our country on the path of growth and economic progress” |
I have always thought that the govt side of the argument is stronger. Watch this video and judge for yourself http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=RLd8o8z-2CU Some work on facts, others on sentiments. As for me, the only valid argument against subsidy is timing. But then, what's the point delaying the doomsday? |
Let's add Adenuga Wale Tinubu Otedola Tinubu and the rest of the oil cabals |
Negro_Ntns:Be prepared for the long haul then. We will play the game. |
Rhino.5dm:Be prepared for the long haul then. We will play the game. |
Negro and Rhino Keep off Igbo affairs as you sugested for me to do in your own affairs. Otherwise I will come for you with fury and fire and you know what that means. |
Negro_Ntns:Is this how you mind you rbusiness and ask me to mind mine? It this how you Yorubas dont interfere in Igbo affairs, as you claim? |
Boko Haram is not faceless. They have been coming on video and some of them have arrested It is matter of time somebody will give them up totally |
Dont forget too that an Igbo man is now a judge in the ICC |
One thing about MS/PhD studies in the USA is tht majority of the students at those levels (especially PhD) are foreigners. I passed by a pg Engineering teaching session today and almost all the students there were Indians. Same also for Chinese students. For these foreign students, some will be on self-sponsorship but a good number will be on own-country scholarships or some type of American (govt/private/university) sponsorship. Iweala's kids are all American citizens. |
That must be among the most expensive houses in Nigeria ![]() |
eGuerrilla:This is correct. One of the reasons I believe the story is false. She has also personally refuted the story. |
Those are the SW protesters, not area boys! Okay protester-area boys ![]() |
hercules07:The use of 99.9% was to butress the fact that MOST (an overwhelming majority) do. Why are you so petty? It could be 95, 90 or whareva %. As long as you are brilliant and apply for a specific scholarship in your area of study you usually get it depending on competition from other applicants. Bill Gate alone funds 1000s of scholarships, let alone the US fed, states, and university-specific scholarships or other private scholarships. You guys in Nigeria must be in hell. fyi I obtained both my MS and PhD degrees on scholarships. I did not pay a dime to do so. |
I repeat: Most, if not all (brilliant), MS/PhD students in the USA have one of: 1. Scholarship 2. Fellowship 3. Research grant 4. Teaching assistantship 5. Research assistantship These usually cover tuition and basic cost of living. If not enough for your living (depends on individual lifestyle), your parents help out or you take a loan. |
hercules07:Did I say that in bold? Now I know you have a problem with reading. Those you know are the remaining 0.09% and must be the non-brilliant ones As an insider, I speak with authority on this matter. Thank you. |
hercules07:And I also assume you want to tarnish her image because she is not Yoruba. Suit yourself, dude. Like I said, we do not know if she actually bought a house. Tribalism go kill una. |
As we speak, I am reviewing PhD scholarship applications that include those from two Nigerians |
tpia@:Dont mind him. He is ignorant. |
Hercules I have just informed you that in the USA 99.9% of those in MS and PhD programs get money (not loan) from govt. What else do you want to hear? They even do so for foreigners including Nigerians, let alone Americans |
hercules07:Read the links I already provided on their scholarships. Plus, google them up; the oldest two are quite visible on the internet. Thanks |
hercules07:You have time, go ahead. I am not a poor man. Got money to make. Abi you no get internet? ![]() |
hercules07:Take time to read my posts, okay? Anyone in the USA who knows about studying knows that at the PG (MS/PhD) level, you get a scholarship/ fellowship or teaching/research assistant that covers tuition and basic living expenses. I have posted some evidence of these for the two older kids that are visible on the internet. If I know the names of the other two kids I can find out. Do you know their names? |
tpia@:The fellowship ends as soon as you complete your program. They are done with them now. Yes income from his book Salaries as workers with MD and PhDs (where applicable) Dad has saved up quite a lot over years Grandparents were both PhDs and the grandfather is the Igwe of their village (but that has nothing to do with the 1.2 billion house payment) |
