Babangidapikin:Have you not heard of Beira corridor in southern Africa? |
cashtivist:The existing quasi unitary government system in a multi ethnic and multi religious country destroyed Nigeria and its economy, not Tinubu. Zonal or regional govt system is non negotiable now. |
The right way to go for Nigeria to remain stable and develop, not disintegrate if the existing government system under a fraudulent political structure continues. |
Wallade:Yes. Three of the five SE states produce oil. |
EcoBrick:But the drafter of the Bill should have known that the National Assembly is overpopulated by northern legislators through the excess number of states created by northern military dictators in the old Northern region. The military dictators ought to have been made aware that land mass is not used as consideration in creating new states or regions in a country of different nationalities |
LOVEALAIGBO:Tinubu did not cause the killings. Only blame Tinubu for not quickly initiating moves to return zonal or regional government system to Nigeria so that every zone or region will have its laws and policing system. |
South Africans had a Truth and Reconciliation exercise after the many decades of hostilities in SA. But in Nigeria, the civil war between Nigeria and Biafra is still being fought POLITICALY AND ECONOMICALLY by sections of Nigeria against the SE region; that is why Nigeria would not have a free and fair elections all the years. |
hammer567:Owerri zone is already developed at the expense of Orlu zone, through education institutions and government parastatals in Owerri zone. Owerri never left anything for Orlu to develop with, as Owerri cornered all the six federal and state tertiary education institutions and establishments for Imo state, and located all in Owerri zone during the military era. When Imo state was cut off from old East Central State, people of present Anambra and Enugu states that were left in Anambra State then knew that Imo state would have all the oil producing areas; but people of Enugu and Anambra States never objected to cutting out Imo state from them. Today, how much better is Imo state compared to Anambra and Enugu states? |
Unbiased1:Who will not like to be part of Orlu state with the largest amount of natural gas deposits in Nigeria, as well as an oil producing area since the 1970s? All these mouth wagging people who claim they are from Anambra State and say they don't want any part of Anambra state to join Orlu, are most ill-informed. |
hammer567:Proposed Orlu/Njaba state has the largest natural gas reserves in Nigeria and has been an oil producing area since the 1970s. Ohaji-Egbema LGA is in Orlu senatorial district. University? There are two universities in the area of Orlu zone. If you add the university at Uli in Anambra South, that's three universities. |
caleboxylic:Most of Ebonyi state came through division of Enugu State. Now you want them to divide Enugu State again to get Adada state. Those from Imo and Anambra States who were agitating for Orlu/Njaba state before Ebonyi state was created, don't they have equal rights with people in the former Enugu State? Be considerate. Did Igbos in Kogi and Benue States tell you they want to leave? |
fergie001:Doyin Okupe also sold out his boss, President Goodluck Jonathan. Okupe and Reuben Abati were the media image of Jonathan when APC was formed.. Immediately after Okupe and Abati observed that Tinubu's APC alliance had got momentum, Okupe and Abati never refuted all the lies of Liar Muhammed and other APC liars against President Jonathan and the federal government led by Jonathan. |
tunjijones:Military dictator Sani Abacha merely flinged what should have been the 6th state of the SE to his NW region for a 7th state in the NW. |
Wallade:Whereas you need all the proceeds from crude oil and gas deposits in the SE to develop your region. See you see intelligence by half. |
Abagworo:Dust on roads. After spending millions of Dollars to build city roads, with underground drainage and side walks, why don't Rivers and Abia govts put a small amount of money in buying road sweeping and washing machines to keep the roads dust free? |
Wallade:Then merge the state you belong to in order to save money for govt of Nigeria. Are you a Nurudeen Alao or are you from Owerri zone in Imo state? Your uninformed or cuny man comment suggests you are either a Nurudeen or a misdirected Owerri zone dud. |
jmichael259:Why would any person or group wishing well the entire Imo state go to locate Imo state university in Owerri when Federal university of technology, the Polytechnic, Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Federal College of Lands and....etc, were then, and still, in Owerri zone, but no single tertiary education institution in Orlu zone? No other state in Nigeria did that sort of inequity in distribution of government sources of modern development. Development could not come from a vacuum to Orlu, despite the number of years govs from Orlu zone steer Imo state. Conservative estimates: about 95% of income to Imo state circulates in Owerri zone alone as a result of denying government institutions to Orlu zone. By the way, the population of staff and students in the two latter-day state tertiary education institutions in Orlu zone is not up 1% of the number of staff and students in the 6 government tertiary the institutions in Owerri zone. Recently, Owerri dragged a federal university teaching hospital for Imo state and got it located in Owerri.; the same Owerri where Imo state Specialist Hospital and Federal Medical Centre also exist. Owerri and Orlu zones continuing to share one Imo state is like perpetuating arrested development in Orlu. |
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said President Tinubu has initiated some reforms his predecessors have failed to attempt while in office Needless to point out that returning true and fiscal federalism to the zones or Old regions of Nigeria or creation of states in shortchanged regions of Nigeria is that most important and perhaps difficult reforms to make to advance political stability and economic devlooment in all the zones, regions or states of Nigeria. |
Onyiiobi7735:A Yoruba man will not mind a 6th state in the SE because he understands the potential advantages for the south of Nigeria. It's some most politically ignorant Igbos who don't understand. The fact that parts of Anambra south zone was merged to rest of Anambra state when the present Anambra State was created does not remove the fact of the cultural linkage between parts of Anambra south senatorial zone and Orlu senatorial zone. |
Noniblaq1:Through name dropping, Reno Omokri has been making money from the social media companies. He would demonise Peter Obi who he once idolized, demonise Igbo who he once adored. He would create posts to generate attacks between Igbos and Yorubas, the ethnic groups that largely use the social media. |
hurryup123:History of State Creation in the SE: East Central State was the mother of the present 5 SE states.. 1) Anambra and Imo States got created through dividing East Central State. 2) Anambra was divided into Enugu and Anambra States; while Imo state was divided into Abia and Imo States. 3) Ebonyi state was created from mainly Enugu State with few local government areas from Abia and Imo States. Therefore a 6th state for the SE must be created from Anambra and Imo States. That's where this Orlu State proposal has been popping up first since 2006 because the people in the south of Anambra and West of Imo have had common ties since gboo. But Owerri and Orlu have no common ties. Guess why Owerri left nothing for Orlu to develop with. |
hurryup123:Owerri zone stripped Orlu zone bare of any government tertiary education institutions and establishments during the military era. All the 6 federal and state universities in Imo state are located in Owerri zone. Presence of these govt institutions and parastatals in Owerri zone has made nearly every once rural community in Owerri zone now become sn urban sprawl with modern infrastures. Orlu was denied everything. In 1976 when Imo state was created first, there were little differences in the levels of urban deevelopment between Owerri and Orlu. Now what do you have in Orlu? Ndi you don't create a new state to kill an existing state. This time na thunder karaka awaits una. Why are some of you people so wicked in that Imo state? No more mouth talk. When East Central State was divided into Anambra and Imo States, Ndi Anambra knew that Imo state contained all the oil wells of then ECS. But Ndi Anambra never resisted Imo state to be separate from Anambra state. |
Svoboda:You suffer from egoism that is not rooted in facts, assuming you are from Anambra State. What makes you think that Anambra State is more advanced economically and politically, than Imo state? Imo state for example, has the largest reserve of natural gas in Nigeria. In terms of Income per capita, I don't think Anambra state has more than Imo state. You capitalise on a temporary violence that started in Imo state and included neighbouring parts of Anambra state, to demonise Imo state. |
adamusuleiman1:Whoever said Lagos is not Yoruba land is lying to his teeth. |
hammer567:Hope Uzodinma is not going to be governor forever. Before Uzodinma, Orlu has been noted as the most peaceful part of the SE. The problems that engulfed Orsu extended to parts of these places in Anambra South senatorial district sharing border with Orsu in Imo state. |
Svoboda:You lie and there is no sense of history in your comments. Orashi State demand then was an afterthought of late Arthur Nzeribe because of Nzeribe's political squabbles with the then governor of Imo state, Achike Udenwa. Ohaneze Nd'Igbo had already adopted Njaba state proposal and sent it to the Senate before Nzeribe came up with his Orashi State proposal with Oguta his hometown as capital. Every saner person then knew that Nzeribe was on political grievances with his Orashi proposal. That Awka is capital of Anambra state does not mean that Nnewi or Ihialla is cowing to Awka. Stop burning yourself over irrelevant matters. What matters is getting commensurate political representation in Abuja for the SE zone as well as what the SE deserves from federal allocations through a deserved 6th state in the SE zone. |
viccy12:Many church parishes in Anambra South are in Orlu Diocese. Most of Anambra south senatorial district have had traditional and political ties to Orlu, they also have lgbo accents closer to Orsu in Orlu senatorial district, than Onitsha or Awka accents. In 2006 when this same proposed state was about to be created during the Obasanjo govt National Political Reforms Conference, leaders of Anambra south senatorial zone, including then serving gov of Anambra State and one former military gov of Anambra State, all came together with leaders of the 12 local government areas of Orlu senatorial zone and requested for this same proposed state called Njaba then. |
Threedoorsdown:One old European country was about to disintegrate during the 1990s due to misgivings of one part over fraudulent political structure. The country's politicians from all sides came to the parliament and restructured the country politically. That ended the beats from the secessionist group. |
Svoboda:Is Onitsha subservient to Awka? No. Is Aba subservient to Umuahia? No. In 2006 when this same proposed state was about to be created, leaders from Uga, Ozoubulu, Ihialla. Okija, including the 2 former govs of Anambra State, all teamed up with leaders of the 12 local government areas of Orlu zone for this proposed state. |
PepeXKermit:Land mass is never a criterion in creating new federal units in a country formed by different regions. You must put balance of economic and political power considerations as you create new federal units in a country originally formed by different regions. Nigeria had three regions in 1960. All considered, the five states only federal units for the SE zone is a cheat to the zone. |
Beremx:Long overdue. Orlu was in the class of Awka, Abakaliki, Asaba when present Anambra, Ebonyi and Delta states were created. In present Imo State, because the people of the state capital zone knew right from 1996 that Orlu area is big enough for a new state, the zone of Imo state capital dragged all government institutions and establishments to the zone of the state capital, Owerri. |
