ositadima1: Sir, I am trying to get a grip on this biz. I noticed that some stocks have very low turnover, for example Conoil turnover for yesterday was 37000 naira only.
Does it mean that people are hording or that people dont fancy it for now? I don't see how the later is possible as the the stock price would have dropped.
By d way, Conoil looks like a great company to own shares in with their last dividend at 150 kobo per stock. I see potential too as regards to its value of 20 naira. last dividend was actually 200k |

ibechris: I joined the banking industry in the year 2012 where I met a colleague who joined from a bigger bank, although I joined as a graduate trainee while he joined as very senior officer.
One blessed day I engaged him in a talk on how we could have side hustle added to our salary,he said everything boils down to Capital for which he had none due to the project he had at hand. I quickly asked like how much are we looking at and he said at least a million naira. And lo and behold,I had just N360,000 as a fresh graduate. He requested I bring the cash and that was how we started,he showed me how to draft the agreement and how to recover funds from customers.
The first cash we gave out happened to be my money and the interest was shared on a 60/40 basis but as time went on,I was reinvesting my interest and the money kept coming.
2016, I resigned my appointment, because the stress was getting out of control and my mentor had already left to join another bank being a professional and very intelligent at his work.
That was how it has been ever since 2012 and currently, i have very solid customers base through referral that I can transact business without going to their offices or even meeting them. To further preserve my capital, I was able to secure about four landed properties in Abuja one in my village.
The loan business is very lucrative,as I have introduced my wife into it and my younger brother is coming on board. Caveat is; get a mentor and have a targeted market and u will succeed. Do not listen to people as many will talk u down.
Funny enough no one has ever owed me since over 7years. The biz can thrive mainly in south east or among easterners BC they are biz oriented. |

All my stock are good DIVIDEND paying stocks...
If the profit is over 50%, I usually sell and forfeit the 12-25% dividend payments and wait for pull back to buy more units of the sample stock I sold earlier.
If the stock percentage profit is less than my dividend, I chop the dividend or re-invest the dividend to the same stock or to a different stock..
Never be attached to any stock or investment since no be you or family get the business.
As treasury bills rates have become ridiculous, am moving to stocks for now with more dividend payments and price appreciation.
When treasury bills rates are above 10%, I will come back

emmanuelewumi: To enjoy stock trading you must have multiple streams of income, you need patience and staying. Cash flow gives the stay power and peace of mind, I have about 60 stocks in my portfolio the biggest stock in my portfolio is Zenith and will give a modest dividend of over 600k only in March. The smallest stock in my portfolio is Vitafoam and will give a dividend of N11k only in March.
I buy almost every month, money from my business, interest from Treasury Bills , money market funds, rental income are ploghed back into the stock market, divends from the stock market are used to buy Treasury Bills , Bonds.
The Investments are structured in such a way that money, no matter how small money must drop.
As a matter of fact someone like me love the bear market, because that is when I accumulate and get stocks at ridiculously cheap prices. 60 stocks? Chai I understand u now |

ositadima1: Madam, I kind of feel you enthusiasm towards trading stocks. I have a few questions if you don't mind. Is stock trading profitable like doing just that full time can pay your bill's? Like what is your average ROI per year? Are you more of a technical analyst or a fundamental analyst? You sound like a day treader and a scalper combined. l do not trade for a living just that my biz is flexible enough to allow me monitor market especially now that l don't want to carry last.l HV been an investor over a decade.l HV been buying stock when l have to buy newspapers to see price movement. It looks m excited BC l do a whole lot by myself unlike those days l shoot in d dark. I HV honestly grown my investment reasonably When l was employed l send money to my broker every month for shares for those years l Neva withdrew l kept invest till 2018 bull runs l sold everything It was a big hit for me ( relative) I do not trade for a living just making Case for people that do that. I am a biz woman. |

They are good. I honestly do my homework based on dividend paying stock by monitoring their pattern stocks like Uba, zenith, fcmb, fidelity.capl etc I HV 12 stock in my portfolio all in green except total If u want to succeed in stock monitor the pattern , hv a strategy and stay focused. Eg buy when price go down eg uba went as low as 5:40-5:5 if one bot it then selling #8 isn't bad. Was a longtermer but like l said before a lot has changed. I do div paying stock in case of incasity I chop plenty div last year but dis year l hv enmarked my exit price to each stock must follow buy low this year |

emmanuelewumi: I have no problem with those who trade online, I am a passive investor and not an active investor who needs to monitor his Investment on a per second basis.
Why should I trade myself and the Stockbroker will still earn his commission for doing nothing.
I wake up around 4am, I send my email which will include the price limit and volume to my Stockbroker before 4.30am, by 8am he will acknowledge my emails. Before 2.30pm he would have carried out my mandate. Before 4pm, he would have sent the contract notes of the transaction to me.
I face my core business during the hours of 9am to 3pm, monitoring the market on a per second basis will be an unnecessary distraction. well it depends on ur biz.mine does not stop me from monitoring the market.l do enjoy it .is not a distraction atall.however not trading every second Waking by 4.am to send a mail to a broker is a no no for me. |

emmanuelewumi: I am an old school investor, sorry to say I don't trade online. I send mails to my stock brokers to buy or sell for me and I give them price limits on rare occasions I give them the liberty to buy for me at the best market price. Like yesterday I asked them to sell 27,000 units of Access Bank shares at the best market price, the proceeds will be used to buy more units of UACN shares on Monday at a maximum price of N9.30k per share.
Regular online traders like Aremso, Ukay2, Jejebaba and others will answer your questions . Mr.Ewumi you can upgrade to being a new school I honestly think that if u take charge of ur trade.u will be getting the best deal in the market, l use to send mail/ text to my broker but most times they buy high and sell low Trading by ursef is the best thing that can happen to ur investment life. Let me give u example of what on Wednesday. I have a target price of selling my UBA PLC at #9.while monitoring the price movement of stocks, UBA got to 8.75 .l quickly sold 20000 units to me is fair, before l knew it it got to #9 ah ah kilode l screamed. In a twinkle of an eye it got to #9.10-#9.15,l sold another #20000, and#10000 again making it 50k unit and then greed set in.why selling everything one mind told me.and l left the remaining units.guess what? UBA closed @ 8.85 or so U see? If na broker u asked to sell for u he go just offer ur order at a particular point in time without checking the pulse of d mkt I follow market from 10am-2.30 live Benefit of online trading 1.u take charge of ur portfolio 2. U make decision by ursef 3. U buy any quantity I like 4 u see live trade as in what people are buying 5. U see offer and bid 6. U sell now and buy another immediately 7. U see ur portfolio anytime anywhere 8. U save ursef stress of mailing or texting ur broker 9. U see summary of charges( very transparent). 10. U balance and re- balance ur portfolio whenever and however 11. U use any browsing paka phone to navigate. What more can l say.is a Total package. I use Morgan capital anyway. |

emmanuelewumi: Better to be diversified by having multiple streams of income.
There is a popular saying on Wall Street that says " stocks make you rich but bond keeps you rich".
That is why Investments that give continuous residual income are very good eg real estate, dividend paying blue Chip stocks, bond, structured and well managed businesses.
My late grand mother died in 1997, but her property at Shipeolu St Shomolu Lagos still generates rental income of over N4 million, 23 years after her demise.
The rents collected are invested in stocks, bonds, money market funds,Invested in buying other properties, used to finance the post graduate studies of her grandchildren and equally created the seed capital which her grandchildren used in starting their businesses after graduation.
It is my prayer that we will also leave a lasting legacy for our loved ones and children. l HV a biz,but trading is a side hussle. Thanks so much for these writeup UA investment personified. |

You will soon be there if you remain focus in your investment goals.....SLOW AND STEADY INVESTMENTS WIN THE RACE.
Stock trading nowadays is better now with the use of real time online trading account with stockbrokers like Morgan Capital roup and other good brokers in the Nse unlike before where analog brokers deal with us as they like. .
....now I can trade real time in the floor of the NSE anytime I want once market opens.. ...quite exciting and fun too....while making good profit without stress once you master the market
.....it stills baffles me why some people and close friends are still afraid of stocks investment despite educating them on the new and current trading pattern .....maybe from previous bad experience. ...
However, most of us lost funds during that time too but with resilience and information available now, we are making good profit from the exchange now.
It's just having time to study the market and get relevant information in this forum and the NSEPA forum all in this nairaland.
May year 2020 and this new decade be a more fruitful and more financial knowledge for all of us to grow our funds . Amen.
Cheers! ! if l no do stock, wetin l gode do?it is easier way of making money. M just trying to adopt a good strategy.m getting it.trading myself is the best thing that happened in my investment life no stress, no wahala. Stock trading is a legacy I will pass my to myboys. I no fit shout. |
