Pa Jacob is receiving treatment at the Male Orthopaedic Ward of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), where doctors are battling to save his right wrist. The severed right wrist, being kept alive by a tiny blood vessel, requires N380,000 to be fixed back. The incident was said to have occurred on Monday, February 29, at 3 am, when Pa Jacob was on night duty. Pa Jacob said the robbers used machete to chop off his wrist when he went to check an unusual noise at the plant house. He said he heard people running towards him. As he attempted to run, the robbers attacked him. “When I was coming from the generator house, they surrounded me. They just cut off this my hand (left hand). As I shout, they said shut up and cut the other hand. I fell down and started asking them to leave me, that I was dying.” The company manager was said to have invited the Egba Divisional Police Station after a driver discovered Pa Jacob. Pa Jacob said he needs money to pay the bills as he had been working for the last six months without his N15, 000 monthly pay. He said his employer did not pay regularly even when he did 12 hours work daily. Pa Jacob added that N3, 000 was deducted and paid to the company that helped him to get the job which made his take home pay N12,000. Efforts to reach the management of the company failed. http://thenationonlineng.net/robbers-chop-off-edo-grannys-wrists/ cc: lalasticlala |

The chairman, Ekiti House Committee on Information, Gboyega Aribisogan, while speaking to journalists in Abuja said that the call became imperative because “the SSS would not embark on such action without presidential approval”. “Like we have maintained, plotters of evil against the government of Ayodele Fayose and by extension the people of Ekiti State will not get our support,” he said. “We, members of the State House of Assembly are prepared to spend the rest of our tenure in DSS cell, instead of plotting against our leader and mentor, Governor Ayodele Fayose. “Gone are those days in Nigeria when impeachment notices against governors were signed on the table of the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and this time around, if the DSS is programmed to play the role played by the EFCC under former President Obasanjo, it will fail.” Mr. Aribisogan noted members would not be intimidated by the agents of the federal government especially if it had to do with the coming elections in 2018. “We have also been told that some of us have been slated for arrest and detention and it is on this note that we have come to inquire from the DSS those of us they still want to arrest so that we can turn ourselves in without giving them the stress of coming down to Ekiti,” he said. “The DSS can also go ahead and publish the names of our members that they want to arrest so that we will know who among us to bring to Abuja. “Alternatively, the DSS can keep the entire 26 members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly in their custody for as long as they desire so that it will be easy for them to call anyone of us for questioning at any time of the day.” http://www.premiumtimesng.com/regional/ssouth-west/199945-buhari-behind-sss-invasion-ekiti-assembly-lawmakers.html |

The governor said no policy of the Federal Government that is inimical to the welfare of the people would be spared by his comments. According to a press statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, Mr. Fayose, who was reacting to the SSS raid for the first time, said he remained resolute in his determination to criticise obnoxious policies of the president in the interest of Nigeria and democracy. The statement said the state commissioner for finance, Toyin Ojo, who was also arrested by SSS was released late Tuesday night. “The Bible says people with God are in majority. This is not the first time people will harass me. It is a conspiracy and it will collapse like other attempts before it. I will remain critical of the activities of the Federal Government, especially when they do things that are inimical to the welfare of Nigerians,” Mr. Fayose said. “Imagine the questions they asked my Commissioner for Finance, they asked him if the Federal Government has reimbursed the state government on works done on federal roads. But the records are with them in Abuja, can’t they check? We have nothing to hide and they are only chasing shadows and are time wasters. “Telling the Federal Government that the economy is in trouble and that the president should stay at home to face governance is not a crime and is part of my rights as a citizen of this country. I am like a tree planted by the bank of a river that brings forth its fruits in due season,” he said. Responding to claims that lawmakers were offered $1 million to impeach him, the governor expressed confidence in the lawmakers. “I am just coming from Abuja and I know that our lawmakers are solid guys and their future and mine are tied together. When the APC was at its peak in the state and they wanted to use 19 lawmakers to impeach me, they failed woefully and they will still fail again. This is a storm in a tea cup. They are not just starting; I defeated them in all courts in the land. I won’t deter from saying the truth about the FG. “We are in the morning we have not seen what the night is going to be. If it is me that brought myself here they will succeed, but if it is God, they will have to first overcome God before overcoming me,” the governor said. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/199863-sss-raid-i-wont-stop-criticizing-buhari-fayose.html |
In acknowledgment of his government’s efforts to keep Nigeria polio-free, Rotary (http://www.Rotary.org) Wednesday presented President Muhammadu Buhari with its Polio Eradication Champion Award. Last year, the World Health Organization (WHO) removed Nigeria from its list of polio-endemic countries after the country went one year without reporting a case of the disease. The last reported case of polio in Nigeria was July 24, 2014, in Kano state. Nigeria was the last country on the African continent to report active transmission of the wild poliovirus. Shortly after taking office in July 2015, President Buhari demonstrated his personal commitment to ending polio by publically immunizing his young granddaughter. In September, he launched polio immunization campaigns in his hometown of Daura, Katsina, by vaccinating local children. Mostly recently, he convened a Presidential Task Force on Polio Eradication, through which 36 Nigerian State Governors reaffirmed their commitment to keeping Nigeria polio-free. “Progress against polio in Nigeria, while a tremendous achievement, remains fragile. The country must ensure high-quality polio campaigns and surveillance activity for at least another two years, or risk the return of this disease,” said Rotary International President K.R. Ravindran. “President Buhari and the Nigerian government have shown they are equal to this challenge, maintaining strong commitment and public support for polio immunization in the face of zero cases.” Rotary established the Polio Eradication Champion Award in 1995 to recognize leaders and others who have made significant contributions to the global eradication of polio. Past recipients include Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan; Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany; David Cameron, Prime Minister of Britain; Enda Kenny, Prime Minister of Ireland; and Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary General. Rotary launched its polio immunization program PolioPlus (http://www.EndPolio.org) in 1985, and in 1988 became a spearheading partner in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (http://www.PolioEradication.org) with the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Since the initiative launched in 1988, the incidence of polio has plummeted by more than 99.9 percent, from about 350,000 cases a year to less than 75 confirmed in 2015. Rotary’s roles within the initiative are fundraising, advocacy, and social mobilization. To date, Rotary has contributed more than US$1.5 billion to ending polio, including more than $225 million in grants to support polio eradication activities in Nigeria and countless volunteer hours by members of Nigeria’s 311 Rotary clubs. To date, more than 2.5 billion children worldwide have been immunized against the paralyzing and potentially fatal disease. Along with on-the-ground support, including programme oversight at all levels, the government of Nigeria has invested more than $112 million in its own polio eradication activities. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/199821-buhari-wins-polio-eradication-champion-award.html |
https://thenationonlineng.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Ocholi-Residence-12.jpg Aaron James Ocholi, son of the late Minister of State for Labour and Employment, James Ocholi, said yesterday that the four children left behind by the late Minister will strive to fulfil their parents’ dream for them. In a brief emotional remark when Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, visited the family, Aaron said though they missed their parents greatly, they were not hopeless. He said: “We are not hopeless; we are really proud of the man he was. We’ll continue to pray to God to comfort us. We will not feel dejected. We will strive to become in life what he always wanted us to be and taught us to be. The First Lady also came here yesterday and assured us we are not alone.” He expressed the gratitude of the family, particularly his siblings, to President Muhammadu Buhari, the Vice President and the nation for their show of love since the death of their parents and brother. Addressing the children, Prof. Osinbajo described the late Ocholi as a committed Christian and patriot who was always ready to make a sacrifice for the course he believed in. The Vice President, who arrived at the No 4 Dagash Street residence of the late Minister at 4:45pm, said: “We have lost someone we held in high esteem who was well respected. It is unfortunate that this happened.” Osinbajo recalled the late Ocholi’s role in the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC), accepting to take the position of Deputy National Legal Adviser even when the National Legal Adviser was not a lawyer. He said such sacrifice and humility will not be in vain. “It is incredible that this happened. You really have to seek God’s comfort,” he told the family. Signing the condolence register, the Vice President wrote: “My brother learned and spiritual, your memorial will live on and will be source of pride and joy to us all. May the Lord comfort these young children and give us cause to rejoice in them, Amen.” The National Working Committee of the APC held a valedictory session in honor of the late Minister who was praised for his sacrifice towards the party’s formation. Acting National Chairman Segun Oni who presided over the session directed that all flags at the party’s national secretariat be flown at half mast for the next three days in honour of the late Ocholi. Oni said: “All we can do is to surrender to the will of God. Those who have come across James Ocholi should take one or two lesson from him. He was driven more by service. He took every opportunity for service without considering what will come out of it. “He was the only member of Federal Executive Council who visited the secretariat frequently. Sometimes, he will meet us in a meeting and he will advise us on the legal implications of some of the decisions we were taking. “He was always willing to give and was passionate about the party. If we can have a few more people to contribute like him, Nigeria will be much better for all of us. All we can do is to pray that God will console and condole the family he left behind. “He gave a good example of what Christians should do generally. I Pray God stand in the gap for his family. I wish, as Nigerians, we will have no reason to sorrow over our stars again. On behalf of the party, we send our condolences to the President, the Vice President and all members of the Federal Executive Council, the government and people of Kogi State through the governor and to his family. We pray God will abide with each of them and console all of us.” Other members of the NWC took time to eulogise the late Ocholi, concluding that the party has lost one of the most accessible ministers. National Vice Chairman, South, Prince Hilliard Etta described the late Ocholi as a “perfect gentleman”, saying “you could smell his humility miles away”. “He was one of the most approachable ministers in the cabinet,” he added. APC National Secretary Mai Mala Buni said the late Ocholi lived a fulfilled life, describing him as a committed party member. National Organising Secretary Osita Izunaso said most of the provisions in the party’s constitution were made possible by the late minister and recalled that he actually administered the oat of office on the NWC members. The Deputy National Chairman, North, Senator Lawal Shuaibu, pointed out that even though he was not a member of the party’s executive, the late Ocholi was prepared to offer his legal services to ensure that the party was well represented in court. “He was always prepared to accept any kind of challenge. He once told me that if he had time, he would tell me how he survived after his parents died. We never sat to discuss that. He was always full of energy. Always ready to go about doing assignments given to him.” National Treasurer Bala Mohammed Gwagwarwa said: “The late Ocholi was a great party man and a frontline agent of change. We lost a friend at a time he was needed most.” National Woman Leader Hajiya Ramatu Tijani Aliyu said: “We lost an illustrious son who always stood for progressive ideas.” Ocholi’s last word at Kaduna church Minister of State for Labour and Employment, James Ocholi, who died along with his wife and son in an accident on the Abuja -Kaduna highway last Sunday, attended a church service in Kaduna where he made some spiritual and political statements. He was invited by the General Overseer of Restoration Bible Church, Bishop Tunde Bolanta, to partake in the final day of a week-long activities of the church in Kaduna. During the service, according to some of the members, who pleaded not to be named, when it was Ocholi’s turn to speak, he advised the worshippers to beware of the end of time because of high rate of abnormalities in the society. Ocholi was also quoted to have urged Nigerians to be patient with the President Buhari administration, adding that the hardship being experienced would soon end. The late Minister was quoted to have advised that the people must put God first in whatever they are doing and added that Nigerians should always pray for the APC government to succeed. http://thenationonlineng.net/we-wont-let-dad-down-say-ocholis-children/# |

I met with a very interesting group of young ladies from Model Secondary School, Maitama, Abuja today. These young ladies fascinated me with the fearlessness of their questions and the depth of their responses. From our conversation, many of them aspire to be Senators, Doctors, Lawyers, and leaders in their own individual spheres of engagement. As a Senate, we will work to create legislation that allows our female children across the country have the same access to education and other opportunities as our male children. Because it has been proven that when you teach a woman, you teach a nation. Hence, we must start empowering more of our young women. The high rate of Accidents under Buhari administration is alarming. Why? |
See More graphic photos here..http://www.ndubuisiude..com.ng/2016/03/nigerian-military-repels-attack-in.html?m=1 Warning very graphic (that is what the Boko Haram deserves)

Troops of 26 and 28 Task Force Brigades repelled an early morning daring attack by fleeing Boko Haram terrorists on military locations at Pulka and Bitta in the fringes of Sambisa forest. Today, troops of 114 Task Force Battalion came under three-pronged attack by Boko Haram terrorists fanning out of Sambisa forest from Damboa, Tokumbere and Pulka axis. At the end of the debacle, 2 Boko Haram insurgents paid for their atrocities with their lives while several others sustained gun shot injuries. The fate that befell those that attacked Pulka was more dreadful. The ever ready and vigilant troops rose to the occasion by repelling the attacks and killing all the 16 attackers and captured one of them alive during the exploitation. The gallant troops also recovered 11 AK-47 rifles, 3 General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMGs), 1 Browning Machine Gun (BMG) and 2 Toyota Hilux vehicles. Others are a 60mm Mortar tube, 7 boxes of 12.7mm ammunition and 1 belt of 12.7mm ammunition. It is gratifying to state that there were no casualty on our own troops except for 3 soldiers that sustained minor injuries. The troops remained on maximum alert and are equally busy consolidating and continuing with their clearance operations with high morale. A pensioner, Mrs. Rose Arabameh Julius, has donated her monthly pension of Ten thousand naira (N10,000) to support the Buhari administration’s war against corruption. Mrs. Julius, who retired as a cleaner from the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, also promised to contribute N1,000 every month out of her pension towards the rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons. She said that she was making the donation because she was convinced that President Muhammadu Buhari is a tested man of integrity who can be trusted to restore the lost glory of Nigeria and drastically curb corruption in the country. According to a statement signed by Abiodun Oladunjoye on behalf of the Special Adviser to the President Media & Publicity, Femi Adesina, the pensioner also commended the President’s efforts to end the Boko Haram insurgency and rehabilitate internally displaced persons. According to Tiwa Savage fans on Instagram, their queen has just made a stylish comeback with this editorial spread shot by TY Bello for ThisDay Style magazine. Ty Bello says; TIWA SAVAGE : FAITH I couldn’t wait to see the clothes @tiwasavage would be photographed in .Especially that #RED dramatic dress that just wouldn’t leave my head ..I had never seen the dress before but it made such a strong impression in my heart ..I KNEW it had to EXIST. ..I had built some black panels to create an enclave for Tiwa to stand in.I wore my clothes inside -out ready to quickly paint the panels into what ever Colors worked with the clothes when they arrived . … And arrived they did.. A beautifully curated set of outfits that interpreted everything we had discussed.. But ALL IN BLACK!.. I had been silent about color when we pre planned to keep things fluid… But I understood that black was very versatile but sometimes difficult color to build a story on and I had to make a creative decision on my approach . I scanned the room for all that we had : amazing BLACK clothes and RED props from Mushin market … My biggest prop being an old RED Toyota starlet with BLACK and white faux -fur seats that I had chased down in Mushin market traffic the day before ..Convincing it’s driver ( who at first thought I was crazy )to bring it over to me the day before . I chose to shoot every thing AS THEY WERE. It became clear to me that I was going to have to ‘FAITH-IT’with this shoot . Black paired with red was stark and looked nothing like the pallet of different colors and tones that danced on the photos in my mind. So I had to make the images .. With what we had ..KNOWING and TRUSTING that the color pallets I SAW already EXISTED in the RAW black and red pixels and only had to be CALLED OUT in postproduction . This is how life is .. Not very predictable and sometimes we have to DECIDE to SEE the beauty when it’s not so obvious . So what ever color life is serving remember @tiwasavage and that Faith always makes new options … CALL out the red .. CALL out the green .. And all the colors in between ..! #tybellophotography #phototropism https://www.instagram.com/p/BCnZjehEbD7/
