DerideGull: What is the approved limit amount for the purchase of car by ministry of aviation or NCAA? Why would the ministry of aviation place request for the purchase of the vehicles to the Federal Executive Council?I will handle you as usual. You should know by now that you cannot cover up your ignorance with Ogbanje intellectualism when you are chatting with me. It suffices to say here that the 2013 Budget of Aviation ministry revealed that there was no provision for the purchase of cars. About N4.2bn was budgeted for the maintenance of motor vehicles, transport and equipment; N1.2bn for the purchase of trucks and N100m was for staff buses. So if any agency under that ministry such as NCAA needs to make a purchase of such a large sum for security purposes, such request should have been submitted to FEC for approval. Cut your losses and go away - you are fighting a losing battle hear. If it'll make you feel better, I admire the way you fight for your own, but biko, remember that what is wrong is simply wrong. BTW: Who is this babe called dbride? I would have written I WANT YOU in admiration but the bride in your handle discouraged me from doing so. |
DerideGull: I make bold to call you Nigeria’s father of protocol. I shall be all ears as you proffer one example where such protocol was observed. Father of protocol, please do not try to stonewall by insisting you will not educate us because this forum is equally a place of learning experience. Mr. Protocol, if you do not mind my inexperience on procedural protocols, I would want you to start by explaining the protocol involved in the procurement of presidential jets.I hope you are not getting blind as time passes by o. I already gave you people one example: the amount involved in the purchase of the cars for Oduah was beyond the approval limit of the minister and the NCAA. The correct protocol in this case would have been to make a request for the purchase of the vehicles to the Federal Executive Council. You and I know that if that had taken place, the Minister and NCAA would have become free from blame. |
KenGali: Why not furnish us with with the approved limit for minister's as well as who made the stipulation?I've told you already that I don't have time to educate you by providing information which is readily available to you. Stop being lazy and look the information up yourself. I'd be disappointed if you further reveal that you have no problem with theft. You may have the last word, because you are not worthy of additional time from me. Intellectual midget ka ibu. dolo |
KenGali: Nicely Evasive, protocols that you do not wish to mention. They were probably manufactured in your living room.Don't be silly, the amount involved in the purchase of the cars for Oduah was beyond the approval limit of the minister and the NCAA. For such a purchase, a request for the purchase of the vehicles must be forwarded to the Federal Executive Council for approval - if you have any evidence that FEC approved the purchase, please lets hear it. Madam minister may be in more trouble than you care to accept. mumu |
DerideGull: If moral conducts shell be gauged by your court of moral standards, I am afraid you will not live to write this crap. What federal government policy limits the type of vehicles any agency will maintain in its fleet? What constitutes corruption?Lets not be childish or play dumb here. It is clear that proper protocol or due process was not followed in the procurement of the cars - I don't have time to educate anyone on the said protocol. The issue at hand is not about limits placed on anything but about a complete breach of protocol which resulted into criminal activities. I hope you are not denying the fact that theft occurred. If I were you, I'd tone down your rhetoric until the names of the people who were awarded the contract are made public, if they ever become public. You, of all people should not support theft under any condition. A minister who created the environment for such theft must be culpable, to say the least. It really does not matter where the minister is from. |
We all know that inflating contracts is the order of the day and a common way of stealing government funds. I wouldn't be surprised if the costs were inflated by the foot soldiers charged with purchasing these cars. Madam minister may not even be aware of the theft scheme. Having said that, she must take responsibility for abuse of power and for being unbelieveably tacky. This affair is super scandalous and if she has any integrity left, she should resign. For those of you saying that she should not be held accountable because others before her may have committed worse atrocities, I say, you should bury your heads in shame. |
Are they increasing tariffs across the board or on just new cars? If they increase tariffs on new cars, one can understand that the policy may protect local manufacturers, if the policy is properly phased in. Whose interest will they be ptotecting by increasing tariffs on older cars? The policy is similar to the oil subsidy saga. The benefit goes to the President's cronies while the masses suffer. |
How I wish this good man, GEJ, would muster the courage to win people like me over, by surprising us with a cabinet shakeup where the Aviation minister and a few others are removed with immediate effect. Both his supporters and enemies will rejoice. We all know which ministers need to go. |
I agree with Sincere_9gerian that the minister performed well in some aspects of her job and she deserves credit for that. On the other hand, I, along with other people who are not shameless enough to sweep Madam minister's crimes under the carpet, demand that she takes the high road and resign. She should be grateful enough to save GEJ additional embarrassment. People who commit crimes such as this deserve to be either stoned or publicly lynched right along with their apologists. |
While you people, who are supposed to be holding mass protest as we speak, are here exhibiting gross bigotry, similar acts of theft continue to occur in every ministry, every agency, every committee, every parastatal, at the federal level and in each state. Truly truly I say unto you, nothing will change until Nigeria's Sergeant Doe arrives at this scene. SMH |
As I stated in another thread, the idea of SNC is unconstitutional and could turn into an impeachable offense by GEJ, if done without the consent of NASS. Pure and simple. I was disappointed when so-called NL intellectuals were getting excited when the NC was first announced. No one should be surprised at this development. The fact that GEJ derailed the very committee he created in a very untimely manner, is typical of his ......... |
name -CROWNED CRANE end of investigation
Very good; now hear ye:The Grey Crowned Crane (Balearica regulorum) is a bird in the crane family Gruidae. It occurs in dry savannah in Africa south of the Sahara, although it nests in somewhat wetter habitats. They can also be found in marshes, cultivated lands and grassy flatlands near rivers and lakes in eastern from the Uganda and Kenya, south to South Africa.@Op, if these birds do not migrate, how dem take reach ya roof if no be the usual suspects order dem to go dere? ehn?? I don warn you, make you go find Aladura wey go undo this do. |
icebeatz: Can a peacock fly??Hmmm. After rethinking, inclination is now towards the notion that witches have trimmed the tail feathers and elongated the bird's legs before releasing it for its mission. Oh boy, you sabi any Aladura or babalawo at all? Consultations may be in order. |
icebeatz: Thats not a peacock bruv.... i have seen plenty peacocks before!Peac ock

taharqa: I come on NL and the 1st tin I read is this?? I am truly ENRAGED- not just cos of d Severity of d info am reading but also cos I realise that I don't seem to be able to make sense (trust) any info I read from Nigerian media these days cos one isn't sure what interests are been manipulatively enhanced by such reports. And that is reali ffucked up...... Having said that, I very completely call for a full INVESTIGATION on this mata; and IF it is found that Oduah smhow ordered d purchase of 2 BMWs for an incredible $1.6m from Govt Funds for PERSONAL use, she shld be Sacked from office and made to pay back the money in full even if it means confiscating sm of her properties, afta reselling d cars of course. I believe that Mrs Oduah hv done/is doing a FANTASTIC job in d Aviation Sector, perhaps more than any person in Naija's history; and, it breaks my heart that I had to say the above. My heart is breaking right now on account that there is even a possibility that this allegation may be true; that she may hv allowed herself to fall into the 'hands' of d considerable HATERS who always wanted her to fail. I feel almost numb right now....This poster drops off my list of sycophantic political jobbers who can never see anything wrong with anything GEJ or his ministers. The day sincere9gerian can make statement like the one above would be a ram killing day for me. Carry go my guy Ewudan. |
These issues must be hashed out before/during and after the national conference o. Otherwise wahala dey afterwards. |

sandee575: The mistrust for our government is understood. Accident investigations are difficult to falsify because they go through many^^^ A sensible post. it is way too premature to reach the conclusion that this mishap was primarily due to pilot error as some people are doing. |
manny4life: All airworthy aircraft should be able to generate lift , so whether you're in tip top shape or top tip shape, as long as it's airworthy. How do you mean it wasn't supposed to be taking off in the first place?I know too much about our people to believe what we are told, hook, line, and sinker. The first thing which should have been established is whether or not the aircraft was airworthy. Do you know why we have not yet been shown any evidence of the aircraft's airworthiness? Its because the evidence does not exist. This AIB report is designed for people like you to reach the conclusions which you are reaching, so their mission is accomplished. I refuse to be gullible enough to fall for their explanation so soon.If you have any evidence that the aircraft did not have mechanical issues which made both takeoff and the abortion of the takeoff impossible, lets hear it. Nwanne m, this unfortunate mishap has become politicized to the extent that one must shine his eyes well well. The easiest thing to do is to lie against dead pilots. These people are shameless, in my view. |
manny4life: The pilot not extending flaps wasn't the cause, at least I will believe, what I'm saying is that flaps does help @ lower speeds, so if you would rotate at 135kts using 8degs flaps, without flaps, it has to be about 160kts.So would you have expected an aircraft in tip top shape and which is air worthy, to have generated enough power to generate the necessary lift? I would say yes. That would mean that this aircraft was not supposed to be taking off in the first place. Do you have any other explanation for why enough power was not generated? Would that be pilot error as well? |
manny4life: ndu_chuks,Read my post just before you posted the above. |
manny4life: I don't know what their Standard Operating Procedure is, it will be unfair to say if it's a bad decision or not, however, what I do know is deploying flaps for takeoff is standard for most airplanes/airlines... Heck, I'm searching for "takeoff checklist" for the Emb-120.I think we all agree that not engaging the flap in of itself is not enough to cause a crash, all other things being equal. We are told that the crew decided not to use the flap during takeoff. It seems to me as if the real cause of the crash is the following as noted in the AIB report: “Approximately three seconds after ‘power is set’ call, the First Officer noted that the aircraft was moving slowly." I submit that the aircraft was moving slowly and could not attain enough lift for successful takeoff. Additionally, the condition of the aircraft made abortion impossible. The responsible parties in my mind, are those responsible for air safety. If you can show us that this aircraft would have successfully taken of if the pilot had used the flap, then I'm all ears. BTW: The protocol you posted up there is applicable when flap is used. Using flap for takeoff is not mandatory in this case, else AIB would have screamed pilot irresponsibility right away! |
