Gbawe: Ndu Chucks, the horse has bolted from the stable. Let GEJ and everyone else contest and test their popularity. As long as GEJ refrains from abuse of power, capable of provoking a backlash which may precipitate chaos, then he should follow his ambition. Others should act, in a politically legitimate manner, to defeat him. That is the key.
The sad truth is that GEJ and his handlers do not believe in letting everyone freely contest and test his/her popularity. That is why he is willing to destroy his own political party as a price for his own returning to office. Pray tell, did he allow Amaechi and others to freely test their popularity? What GEJ and his handlers are doing is nothing short of abuse of power, which is capable of causing more bloodshed and will likely precipitate chaos.

The man is bad news for Nigeria, he needs to go.

@omonnakoda, the said agreement for peace, was reached at the beginning of OBJ's rule and as a condition for giving the south (OBJ) the opportunity to rule for 8 years to jump start the "rotation of power" scheme. Like it or hate it, the agreement is what it is.

Billyonaire: Jobless Ndu_chuks, GEJ MUST remain President till 2019, anything short of it, the Oil wells will be occupied. No need to talk too much.
My brother, war is more than blowing up a few pipelines, running to the bush with one or two kidnapped expartriates and demanding a ransome. When the shiit hits the fan, people like you will run away overseas while your relatives will die by the millions. Trust me, no one wants war.

Only goons like you refused to believe Azazi when he told you that Boko Haram is PDP. That the Boko haram crisis was fueled by GEJ's actions was a fact that only people like you do not grasp. You expose your lack of knowledge about the political climate in Nigeria by stating that the killings in the North were simply a result of anger towards GEJ. mumu

Afam4eva: What you're invariably saying is, since we can't get the likes of Soludo, Fashola or Utomi then any incompetent president has to be a northerner.
Stop pretending to be a dummy!!! Your attempt to tribalize my posts and put smelly words in my mouth fails woefully. I, unlike you, believe that we can find competent leaders from all regions of Nigeria. Try your best to look at issues from other dimensions than bigoted and prejudist ones.

Afam4eva: I'll advise that you choose one battle and not dangle around two. If Jonathan says he's not contesting, do you want a competent president and must the president come from the North?
I personally do not care where the President comes from. If any party presents Soludo, Pat Utomi, Amaechi, or Fashola, as its flagbearer, I'd vote for that party. I am however a realist and understand that given the realities on ground, a Northerner will likely be the next President if GEJ is defeated.
Politics › Re: Sir Mr. President GEJ, Its Time To Shelve Your 2015 Ambition by nduchucks(op): 6:11pm On Sep 01, 2013
Katsumoto: First, Nigeria is more than North and South

Second, so Boko Haram is as a result of the North not producing the current president? It must be astounding that Southerners weren't blowing themselves up when the North kept producing president after president.

Third, wasn't the said agreement a PDP only agreement? That isn't binding on the rest of the country.

Fourth, isn't it time for Nigeria to decentralise? Decentralisation will eliminate drastically the need for regions to demand their son/daughter becomes president.
Ideally, we'll return to 6 states with each of the current zones becoming a state, with 100% resource control with the exception of offshore resources located a nominal number of miles offshore. Unfortunately that will not happen anytime soon. The constitution is currently being amended and no one is discussing the said decentralization.

As far as this so-called PDP agreement, it is what it is. I wonder why ACN decided to respect the so-called PDP agreement by presenting Ribadu as a candidate the last time arround.

Afam4eva: I just knew it was about the rotation thingy. It means you're not calling Jonathan out for his supposed incompetence but because he's not a northerner.

Thank God you realize that bokoharam came as a result of a southerner and most especially a Niger-Deltan being in power.
Your assumption is wrong. If GEJ has been delivering, I'd support him fully, I want the best for my country. He is incompetent and surrounded by thieves.

Katsumoto: @ Ndu_Chuks

I am very curious to ascertain who you believe is capable of being the Nigerian president in 2015.
My dear brother, it'll be difficult to find a candidate you would be worse than GEJ. GEJ is avery good man with a very good heart, but I'm sorryu to say, is unfit to rule us.
Politics › Re: Sir Mr. President GEJ, Its Time To Shelve Your 2015 Ambition by nduchucks(op): 5:57pm On Sep 01, 2013
Afam4eva: By gentlemanly agreement, you mean?
While most people deny it publicly, it is a well known secret that "The North rules for 8 years, then the south rules for 8" and the rotation keeps the ball rolling. The south (OBJ) had 8 years, next the North through Yar'Adua were to have their 8, unfortunately Yar'Adua left. It is because of this agreement that ACN fielded a presidential candidate from the North, the last time arround. GEJ broke the agreement by contesting the election, thus violating it.

The result: escalation of political violence, Boko Haram, etc etc.

Nigerians prefer to bury their heads in the sand and ignore this reality.

Sorry to say that this man GEJ, has brought nothing but bad luck and omen to Nigeria ever since he decided to break the gentleman's agreement which had been established to maintain a very delicate peace in Nigeria.

If we don't remove this incompetent man, who is surrounded by a bunch of incompetent and thieving advisers, from office come 2015 or earlier, I'm afraid we may end up reducing our population by millions, quicker than a crab blinks an eye.

During GEJ’s tenure, terrorism became the order of the day

Billions of dollars of crude oil has been stolen in full view of all while the terrorists awarded security contracts to protect the roam freely without any accountability

GEJ is a very good man, but we do not need a weaklin who is unable to control his own household and wife, or keeping his own party (PDP) united, running our great country aground.

Nwanne m, Mallam GEJ, announce to the world now that you will be a man this time around and stick with your promise to Nigerians that you will only rule for a single term President! After the announcement, proceed to transform the country without the distraction of a political campaign. Biko!

why is the baby upside down> is this part of our culture i dint know about?Congrats dear
Yes o. Our people have reasons for holding babies upside down like that and actually throwing the baby up a few inches and then catching him/her before s/he falls.

The reasoning is that, the baby would not react in a manner which would make matters worse, once s/he is old enough to start having accidents like falling down, tripping, falling off the cot, or being stunned by other surpise falls.

Not a single babe has ever been hurt by the act, infact babies who ecperience this thing ride roller coasters with ease while oyibo people p iss for body. This practice dates back hundreds of years.

The tone of GEJ goons has suddenly changed, and they've suddenly realized that the rail line restoration was not the brainchild of GEJ's afterall.

Sorry to disappoint you people but GEJ is a visionless leader who has no business ruling Nigeria. I challenge these goons to name a single BIG idea of GEJ's which has transformed the lives of Nigerians for the better. All this administration has done with effectiveness is protecting thieves, giving them amnesty, and paying off terrorists with big contracts. Despite the contracts oil bunkering and theft is at an all time high. What a legacy!!!

Your lame attempt to support your exaggerated praise of GEJ and not accord any credit to Yar'Adua for the Lagos - kano restoration, fails once again. Yar'Adua cancelled the bogus $8 billion over inflated contract and laid the framework for what GEJ completed. GEJ simply completed what Yar'Adua mapped out, arranged, and started - and don't you ever forget that! mumu

To show that you are a deceptive liar, I refer you to this thread right here on NL started in 2009. It shows that Yar'Adua awarded a contract to revitalize the Lagos-Kano rail line after cancelling the $8billion contract. Yar'Adua unfortunately left us and GEJ simply completed the project. Keep deceiving yourself.

Read up on Yar'adua's contract here

BTW Here is a quote by one of the current moderators on NL, from the same thread . You can't fool everyone

OAM4J: I was waiting for somebody to note the difference. We are only rehabilitating the existing lines built more than 50yrs ago. This is 2009 for God's sake. and the best Yar'adua can offers us are still the locomotive trains. It's bad news.

Jakumo: The title of this thread suggests a story of culture clash and criminality in which an African visits North America where he encounters racism for the first time, gets busted for littering, loses his shirt and credit cards to a Vegas hooker, picks his front teeth off the sidewalk after a drunken bar fight, is jailed for identify theft, and finally deported for immigration fraud.

Instead of a nice juicy tale of missed opportunities in the Land of Opportunity, all we get is the lame account of a person who experienced a minor earth tremor while on an America visit, and then, wrongly concluding the entire United States of America is prone to major earth-quakes, swears never to go there again.

Something tells me President Obama won't be losing much sleep wondering whether this self-taught African seismologist will ever grace American shores again with his esteemed presence.
You just made me spill my ice cold palmy.

You asked why we are outrageously celebrating? What can't HATRED and BIGOTRY not do to one's mind!! *smh*
If you actually believe that the efforts to revitalize the rail line between Lagos and Kano was perfected by GEJ in 2-3 years then you are either quite a dullard, or too partisan to be honest, to even yourself. The revitalization program started with OBJ's regime which awarded the contract to revitalize the said rail line to a Chinese company. Endemic corruption during that period did not allow the project to see the light of day until Yar'Adua put a freeze on the contract by withholding funding for the project. Yar'Adua went ahead to restructure the contract and put in place cleaner and more realistic plans to implement the construction contract. As we all know, YarAdua left us before he could see the project to completion.

GEJ inherited and implemented the framework left behind by Yar'Adua quite easily, the real credit belongs to Yar'Adua. Go and read up the reason why Yar'Adua froze the countract and how he restructured it before his death. You fools are now claiming that GEJ did it all in 2-3years. You sir, need to bury your head in shame for dispicable dishonesty. Stop misinforming gullible people. dolo

I'm always amazed when people react as if the moderators are martians and not fellow Nigerians. Those calling for the removal of Afam because the moderator had the courage to be honest, are invited to become intimate with the nearest transformers in their neighborhoods.

Honesty and/or support for a particular politician is not incompatible with good moderating skills. Y'all should leave the man alone. It is quite sad to see how some people are celebrating haulage of containers by rail in Nigeria. What is even sadder is the ignorance of the youths in this country. It might interest readers to note that we had a fully functional railroad system way back in the 70s.

Passenger and freight trains ran from Lagos to very far North regularly back then. So what is there to celebrate? My own celebration will come when GEJ and his incompetent handlers are kicked out of office and replaced by a more competent group. Shi kena.

The federal government and in fact state governments should not be responsible for maintaining local roads such as those in OP's photographs. Construction and maintenance of those roads should be performed by local governments in saner societies. But alas, the governors do not support local government autonomy, while the federal government prefers to keep power in the center.

It is inaccurate to insinuate that the Yorubas (Obafemi) in your story, did not join the federal troops until Ojukwu's forces approached the SW. All of Nigeria fought the war right from the start.
