Oga, I don't think we should look at it from that point of view, rather their frustration at loosing so much of their investments. Would you as a business person send your produce to a seemingly hostile place after farming, or buying from farmers, Paying so much for transportation(I hear a trailer cost as much as 4m per trip), paying all the agencies on the roads, the risk etc, you then get to Lagos and area boys, or other places in the country where agitators, miscreats, unknown gunmen etc then destroy the produce or equipments, in this case baskets?
I think it should no be looked at as threats but rather a cry out to relevant authorities to take action.
Let's face fact, the menece of area boys in Lagos is getting out of hand, it affects Yoruba, igbo, Hausa etc, nothing like discrimination. Let your truck or even car breakdown anywhere in Lagos and see how much you will have to cough out to area boys before it can be fixed or towed away. Heck, just last week I had to send 10k to one of my drivers a Yoruba gentleman, before area boys could allow the towing of a broken down Nissan murano at Anthony village road.
Try to offload goods, produce etc anywhere, they show up and you must pay. Drive around the roads at night on a truck and they are at strategic places with sticks and dangerous impliments waiting to break your side mirror or glass is you don't give money. Some go as far as demanding to see your cargo and then slapping you with a bill before allowing you to pass, bills ranging from 30k upwards!

Omo, I felt shame for them, the Dep gov in disgust reached into his vehicle and gave a bundle of 50k, the drove off. Omo, see 8 grown men sharing the money without shame. Haba.
