Politics › Re: Nigeria Back From The Brink? - Punch Editorial by nedekid: 12:21pm On Mar 27
Na wah, black man own must alway be different. When Russia faced uncertainty due to sanctions, war etc, the rouble that was 55 to $1 went as far as 110 to the dollar, the economic team got to work and pulled the economy out of the brink, the rouble started appreciating and got to 60 and eventually even less than 55 which it was before the war, now that is what you mean by pulling the economy out of the brink.
Meanwhile in naija under apc and Tinubu, apc met naira at 150-200, Tinubu met it at 750, today it is over 1400 and they claim we are now out if the brinks and the worst is over. If the currency had returned to eg 500 to $1 and appreciating which means the purchasing power of the average Nigerian has improved the Tinubu, apc and its supporters including all Nigerian will rejoice and be happy! Not this bullcrap of monumental poverty.
In fairness the naira seems to be more stable and predictable, but we want to see the gains of the Iran war on us as an oil producing country. Fgn should work to improve our purchasing power by returning the naira to less than 500 atleast.

Another black man useful idiot. You want to fight alongside the jews, the worst set of people in the world right from time immemorial. Anyway it is likely they instructed him to say so, he is likely being blackmailed with all the kompromat they have on him just as they are doing to Trump and other world leaders.

Imagine idi amin will be turning in his grave when he sees what his country has become, the idiots and sissies running the place.

Do Nigerian want better government in the first place? The people suffering pass are the ones that will even insult you and talk all crap in support of a government that has placed them in poverty, they will be suffering and smiling, some people say it is because they know no better, all they need is to be given rice. Look at helinus, rich Taiwo, benue josh etc, they will insult and fight you all because of 30k and rice.
Bro, Mr Otedola is enjoying himself and that is the life some of us aspire to. Me too when I taya for naija wahala, I will walka and go and ride bicycle, I get party to attend in Croatia and Thailand, but na chongqing China de my mind.

Your honest inferences shows you are genuinely eager to find answers and understand certain realities, you arent like those Puerile ideologues that criticises everything without an idea how the system even works.

The wage isn't the problem but what is the output of the entire Nigerian economy our gdp is about $252b with a population of about 220m the brings our per capita to just about $1,250,thats the output of every citizen in a year......now juxtapose that with Qatar with a lesser gdp of $213b with a population of just 3.3m would give you a per capita of $71k.....hence the higher wages you have over there.

If govt doubles the minimum wage in Nigeria now without commensurate level of production expect inflation to go up too.....expect a 59kg bag of rice to go up from 53k to about 80k,house rent to increase etc......
Government should make polices that will give a stronger naira ie cut inflation and increase purchasing power simple. Salaries do not have to increase, with a stronger naira cost of goods will reduce. If you can buy eg Korope for 600k like it was sold few years ago instead of the 4.3m it is sold now, cost of transportation will crash.
Oil producers are seeing stronger currency today due to high oil prices thanks to the Iran war, they are filling up their reserves, from Russia to angola as for we it is stories, they say our oil has been sold in advance or used as collateral for igbese. Igbese used to buy airliner as presidential jet while we have no national airline, igbese used to build coastal road when the country has not stabilised economically, igbese used to fund city boys and all sorts not beneficial to the masses.

Politics › Re: Nigeria Ranks Last In Quality Of Life 2026 by nedekid: 10:50am On Mar 26
Funny thing is that it is the most deprived people, those that when you check their profiles on Eg fb you will just shake your head, people that seem to be very struggling folk deprived of the good things of life in some run down place in Eg ekiti that will be the ones defending this apc simply because they assume it is their brother in charge, a wrong assumption because what affects one affects all as collective Nigerians. This morning I gave one of my guys Ade a ride, the guy first said he did not carry his car cos of the fuel situation, that was how he started lamenting that he saw so so and so people, those we use to be drinking buddies with, that can I remember how those guys use to fight us over buhari, that Omo if you see those guys now, say na die! All of them have lost their cars, things are bad for them etc, say the lucky one of them was one whoes brother sponsored to Canada before see finish entered at age 50.
You will see people that have not seen or tasted a better way of life making noice on this forum supporting people who impoverished them, Helinues and the rest, especially that benuejosh guy talking of selling cassava, millet and other crap.
That was how few days ago they were defending the minister of darkness who has destroyed businesses and made life frustrating for Nigerians. They were praising Oga that went to London to sign deal that gave millions to his paddy, a trip where pounds was shared to people to come and stand by the streets, where the son was moving around claiming city boy and people his father has impoverished to the extent they had to run abroad to be janitors, factory workers etc just to live decently we're hailing him.
Anyway the righteous will always survive, when country taya person them go enter aeroplane go relax for 1month, wash head before comming back.

Why is the Nigeria government constantly increasing tariffs at the ports?

The already skyrocketed cost of buying vehicles is about to blow up again!

Maybe a 2009 Camry will now cost 20million!
Oga the thing taya me, we are dirt poor in this country yet pay more for a car than people living in 1st world countries. See you even talking of 2009 camry, a vehicle that should be close to a scrap yard, yet to buy such vehicle as a Nigerian you will pay a hand and foot. Clearing agents will tell you not to import a brand new car or any one less that 3 years old because the duty will be astronomical, almost the cost of buying the car a second time. Why also will customs use the price of a brand new car to calculate duty for a used vehicle? 35% duty, 35% Nigeria automotive levy, 7% something else, then you talk of clearing, Haba! You buy a dirt cheap £1000 old banger, ship it with £1000, then use over 4m to remove it from the port, Haba, government should fear God..

I have no issues with this. It has been long establisgd they are friends. Just let him do what he was paid to do.
Do you know his son is also a board member of the company? Ofcourse conflict of interest, glaring corruption does not mater to you or many other Nigerians. Can the British prime Minister give such contract to a company he openly has interest in? Can't you guys see that the open air pillaging of this country is why we remain as we are while others are moving forward? Crude price is now over $100 per barrel, other oil producing countries are rejoicing, their currency appreciating, but for us in naija despite the new refinary it is woe. Even if local price of petrol increases, why has the naira not started gaining value and our reserves cuffers started filling up? Why has naira not broken past the 1k line? Oga it is all corruption, no money is enough for this man, we have handed over the whole country to a chicago style criminal organization, we handed over the treasury to gangstas, abi look at apc, is it not having all the hallmarks of mafia?
Anyway let's siddon look, grab what you can for the betterment of your self and family since it is now every man for himself, greed. Look at the assets of the late akala, someone that all his life was government patronage. Now imagine a whole country where all the politicians are "akalas".
