hello great NAiralanders ...Visa delayed Today
I hardly see people that smile today at Abuja US Embassy, when I got there people were just talking about the rate of denied..but I haven't see reasons why I should be denied cos am legit and I answer with confidence, it's like I am the most youngest in today's 7:30am appointment and this really motivate me to speak with no negative reaction..
like 3 nonimmigrant were wondering why I was denied, after my i interview. it was today I learnt some Nigerian cannot speak English just to Express themselves. they need to call interpreter for them. here is how the interview goes :
Vo:Why associate degree ?
Me: actually I was given admission in Cornell university but....(she cut me)
Vo:What is your plan after associate degree?
Me: after my associate degree ,I plan to transfer to Cornell university to complete my bachelor's degree.
Vo: did you have family in the USA
Me: No,I don't
Where will you be staying in the USA?
I will be staying in the school hostel at Raiders hall
Vi:Who is your sponsor ?
Me :My dad
What does he do ?
Me:He is a successful business Man ,he has some couples of petrol station in the Ekiti state.
When did you past out from secondary school ?
Me: may2009
Vo: what have you been doing since then ?
I went to federal polytechnic for my national Diploma in Nov 2012 and I pass out may 2015.
She just brought out 214b and she said I can reapply.
Everyone that went to the lady before me was denied, even an old man that i think
Is going for visit was denied.. My advice to the VO is that not everyone can afford to pay for university . they should try and find a way to know a genuine student. Rather than delaying CC student visa, they shud know our currency presently has no value ,and some might prefer starting from a community college.. plz I'm planning to reschedule my appointment cos staying home is another delay but my school start date is 28th Aug ...

Sorry about your delay.
My few input is that these visa applications are usually by 'luck', although there is nothing like that in my dictionary.

You can reschedule and refire, you might meet another VO that has a different View on CC.

Secondly, you can wait for the next session, write Gre and apply to a university(look out for funding to reduce your financial burden) and if you insist on CC, you should also consider your age.

Hi
fizzile:
GOODNEWS: CBN resumes dollar sales to BDCs today – The Nation
AUGUST 5, 2016 BY ABOKIFX
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) will today resume dollar sales to Bureaux De Change (BDCs) seven months after it stopped the practice.

It stopped the sales last January because of what it called dollar scarcity and abuse of operating guidelines.

Speaking to The Nation yesterday, Aminu Gwadabe, Association of Bureau De Change Operators of Nigeria (ABCON) President, said nearly 3,000 BDCs are expected to access dollar from the CBN today.

He said the BDCs had on Wednesday, funded their accounts with the CBN in readiness for the transaction, adding that dollar disbursement will start today and continue next week.

“Our members funded their accounts with the CBN on Wednesday and will get the dollar equivalent today. The funds will be sold at the prevailing inter-bank rate,” he said.

Gwadabe said the funds would come at one per cent commission, which has been agreed with the regulator.

The CBN directed the BDCs to render returns and comply with anti-money laundering regulations.

Gwadabe promised that the BDCs would abide by the directives and continually provide detailed reports on how previous dollars sourced from the CBN were utilised.
For more on this, read the complete version at http://abokifx.com/cbn-resumes-dollar-sales-bdcs-today-nation/
Indeed this should be good news to all of us.

Oga, leave all these their tori and propaganda, will dollar reduce say by next week

Someone told me last weekend that naira might go up to #400 by this weekend and he was right!

I bought $10 from presidential phc at #375 and going today to buy $100, they said #395 last!!! I shock cos it was less than 24hrs from my previous day dealing.

God please I need where and who to buy dollar cheaper, say #200!

The truth is that you weren't prepared. But the good thing is that you have found this thread. Read through this thread before your next interview.

Study the transcripts and ask questions where necessary.

Your visa can be granted even with the community college ish

Visa approved on Tuesday Morning. 7 am.
I cannot say whether I gained from this thread or not but I enjoyed reading transcripts and I love to share my experience and post thoughts.i am neither happy nor excited.

5 years ago, I was at the embassy for education advisory services for counseling and orientation. I ruled the US out my my options due to the sad and hard visa experiences and how Nigerians are treated all in the name of getting a visa. May God continue to punish our thieving leaders with different diseases for making our country unbearable for the masses. (Forgive me for using such statements)

I felt degraded and kind of lost morale and interest in getting the visa after spending hours on the queue with security checks and bio-metrics. I got into the so called interview hall and found people giving all sort of excuses and reasons to be in the USA. For my mind I was swearing for our past leaders who failed to improve our educational system /economy .

I was surprised to listen to the interview of a man who applied for immigrant but was refused due to the fact he couldn't tell the vo his date of birth. I lost morale on the spot when I listen to other interviews. At that time, I was certain I too had forgotten my name. Tension was every where.

From the entrance at windows 5,The vo drilled a young man for 6 mins or so. I stared at him and swallowed the saliva in my mouth when we had eye contact.i quickly removed my face and told god not to move me to this window 5. I was hoping to be interviewed by one of the female vo but little did I know that I was wrong. Low and behold I ended up at window 5. A middle aged man was denied in front of me as the vo found out that he lied about his purpose of traveling. At that moment my head went blank. All the practicing and ginger left me as I met the same vo.

Me- good morning sir
Vo- no answer( for my mind I say my own done be today) what is your purpose of traveling to the United States ?
Me - I am going to svsu for my msc in comms in Michigan (stammering, I'm a stammer)
Vo-no why did you chose svsu ??
Me- svsu has good academic facilities and good lecturers (still stammering while the vo was typing and wasn't looking or listening to me). He cuts me. At that point I lost morale because I didn't really express my self I lost eye contact.
Vo.- how many schools did you apply to
Me- I told him 3 (at this point I my head was down while he was staring at me and asking questions) the vo mentioned the other school on my behalf and I said yes.

Vo- when did you graduate?
Me- I told him
Vo- what have you been doing since then?
Me - I told him my job functions still stammering and heads down. Truth was that I was expecting the blue paper at this point.
Vo- says something I didn't hear and hands me a paper I didn't bother to look at. At this point I forgot my passport was not returned back to me. It was outside the consulate I met some other guys who asked me how did my interview go. It was then I was reminded that I was approved as I realized that my passport wasn't returned and I clearly saw the color of the paper in broad daylight as the vo didn't circle anything.

no documents were asked for as the vo continued to ask me questions that needed a yes and no answers.i was lucky i guess cool

I want to thank the likes of dickoflife and olan who helped me with mock interviews. Only god knows what criteria the vo used to approve me because I wasn't impressive at all. I am neither happy or excited but was wondering why all these stress for a visa.? I will always pray for my country to get better one day as my interview experience has left me with mixed feelings

I understand... Some people get their visa in one touch, hence do not understand all the hype about it. But one thing you should feel is thankful to God...

Congrats and start booking your flight and I know there is no joy in that one as the fares are high!

Vo: typing. Den gave me a blue slip, saying I dnt av strong ties and dt I ca reapply.

You hardly see a private organization with a website(Naija never dey too developed like that). You could have said you guys dont have a website just email address. And you ought to have buttressed your relationship with your 'uncle'. Like he is mom's bro or father's bro.

Secondly I don't understand your course and program so I wouldnt say much on that.
You can study English and develop your reading epwriting e.t.c in Nigeria so that alone isn't really a strong point

1st Interview in 2015:

VO: Why Murray State University

I answered her question

VO: Asked me if I have done GRE (Am going for Msc (Mass Communication) but I graduated as an Engineer in 2007 and has worked in the Media ever since.

Told her it was not part of the requirement for the course. She gave me rejection letter.

2nd Interview (July 1)

VO: Why Murray State University

I answered

VO: She asked why I was going for Mass Communication and not Journalism

Told her Mass Comm has a wider scope as Journalism is limited to news

VO: Am sorry you're not qualified....gave me the rejection letter. My GRE score was not even checked.

1st Interview was in Abuja while the 2nd Interview was in Lagos

Like someone said you should have started by giving distinct definition of the two as well as aligning your passion with strong points on mass comm.

Meanwhile IMO I think the VO should have given you more time by asking some questions..
Since GRE is not an issue anymore and it might not be finance, cos they would have asked you for your statement of Account.. Moving from Engineering to mass comm looks a bit suspicious. I just feel the VO couldn't understand why a person will make such transition..

Wish you success in your next try!

Simply apply for the state driver's license at your local dmv. That's what everyone did.

Mind you, driving in U.S is different from what they do in Nigeria, most especially if you're going to be driving in a city. This is why passing road testing is harder in the cities than in towns.

Thanks. Someone mentioned it to me recently. That's why i asked.
