I don't know the job they would have done that people here cannot do?? Let them peacefully serve their term and come back with heads high... When you beg like this, if they eventually come back, they will feel all high and mighty..

Ok. Thanks for the information but I have also seen a post with someone who got his without English test. Probably one of the fortunate ones.

@ALL: What's the probability of getting approval without the test?

Cheers
Why not just take the test to be on a safer side and also have peace of mind.. You don't know what the person's situation was.
No go follow person enter frying.

Eventually you want to process your PR, you will still need it

Trust me when I say every country's movie depicts what's happening there. In Korea drama, when a particular chaebol is caught, they will feign remorseful, some will even sit on wheel chairs, lol

See this guy's face, I am actually pitying him now

In the course of submitting my DS-160 form the system didn't accept my scanned passport so I submitted without a passport but was asked to bring a passport on the interview date on the printout. Hope that won't have any implication?
Hope you know they have a specific size of passport?? I think it's 2 by 2, check US visa website, if not those hustlers outside will charge 2500

Pls i have a question? I stumbled upon this thread and I have really learnt a lot. I applied for F1 visa on the 17th of dis month and I wasn't given visa. I had all the required documents but wasn't given.

The consular in window 1, a man interviewed me.
He asked the following questions
1. Why the school, I told him
2. How many schools did u apply to, told him 2 and named them.
3. Then he said why murray over the other uni.
Me: Cos the school has been known as a top tier uni.... He didn't allow me finish my statement. The next thing he said I shud answer again as I was talking he just said there's nothing like top tier that he's giving a last chance.
Me: Then mentioned that I choose murray cos the program i am going for has been accredited by an accreditation body known as Abet and Asac while the other uni d ms program hasn't been approved by d accreditation body.
4. Why did u apply to a school dat hasn't been approved.
Me: Explained that it was during my research I found out after applying.
5. When did you graduate from the university?
Me: 2011...
6. He started going thru my passport (without asking me any question)to see if i ve any travel experience. When he didn't see any stamp on it. He said sorry cant giv u visa blablabla, reapply.

Now my question is...
The person that helped me out with the process, said i can reapply in July cos the school will be resuming in 2nd wk of Aug but a friend of my mum i.e into immigration & visa told my mum dat i shouldn't reapply due to the duration (a month). That if I do that there's 80% chance of me not being given the visa because even if I meet another consular, he might not want to overrule the previous consular decision. He said I should confirm if the school has a session starting in January den i should defer till then, travel to anoda country then reapply in December.
The agent/person that helped out with the first process said i can still be given the visa that it all depends on the consular.
Am quite confused right now, pls advice on best step to take.
Thanks..
Assuming you 'stumbled' on this thread before now you would understand that you don't need any agents whatsoever, in fact the only help you will need is someone who will pay your sevis fee.
And that's why you were not able to answer why you chose a particular school.

My advice is there is still time to reschedule for interview and do your homework, read this thread thoroughly even if it's only this part. It helped most of us here and you might even find someone who applied to your school.

And pls whether its this year or next year, do not use agents.

I dont think the issue is that you applied to one school , it is Do you have a reasonable explanation to why you applied to this School only . If you have a good logic behind it then there is no problem .

Also a serious student ideally should apply to more than one school.... Because who puts all their eggs in one basket , if you are determined to go to school this fall and apply to only one school. If that school doesn't give you admission ...Then you just wasted a full semester as you have to wait for the next admission circle .

It like saying you are applying for job only in one company, who does that huh ..Definitely not a serious Job applicant when dey find work

i think its also a cultural thing because Ideally if you grew up in the US, Americans rarely apply to only one school U see intelligent competitive student applying to all the IVY leagues at once except if they is a logically reason .. . Maybe all your generations are Yale graduate and you must attend only Yale .Fine but you see here there is a sentimental reason to it. If it that you want to remain in a state to claim instate tuition, there usually more than one university in a state . . Nigeria Jamb system is one school but their system they apply to multiple programs to get the best fin aid package and then choose .
Even during recruitment time, U see students with 3 job offers they will still be hustling for more interview so they can pick and choose from options
I love the way you make efforts to answer questions here even when it was not directed to you and also the way you simplify your answer till the person has no more questions to ask.
And you don't flaunt too
Well done!
Walspring well done too!!

That not true, getting a visa to a College is not hard it, its the same process as a Uni, truth is that it just rear many applicant chooses university over CC, so far the it accredited you'll be granted a visa..
I was at the educationUSA and I asked the VO that same question, he laughed at me and said where did you hear that from I said NL he just said are they the VO's to decide that, so far you prove you are a genuine student and provided the reason why you chose the school, you will be granted visa. then the Academic advisor added that after you get an associate degree from the CC you can transfer to a university to and get your bsc in 2yrs can you imagine "thousands of dollars you've just saved"? Don't just conclude like that maybe the few people you know that applied didn't get the visa but I know quite number of people who applied to CC and got their visas. undecided undecided
I agree that its the same process. Community
college doesn't make you look less a student. But our concern is how old is the guy in question.

I know someone who recently got his visa approved and he applied to a community college. Like this guy he had a bsc too in Nigeria. In fact the case is same but the ages will differ.

So bro, as for me, concerning this your case my problem will be your age..

I think people really need to be reminded that the DS-160 is really an important piece of document that goes a long way in determining one's VISA approval/denial.

Don't just fill it for filling sake and prepare day and night for oral interview. View your DS-160 as you cuz this piece is already explaining who you are and your mission before you're asked the first question.

So my advise would be to take time fill your DS-160 like your life depends on it.

For example: (I stand corrected tho cuz I'm still learning too) I remember a page on the DS-160 where the applicant is asked to list at least two people (non-family members) who are aware of one's United States mission. This I believe has something to do with your ties to your Country.

Now if you would fill such. Think about this as filling your recommendation module for Graduate study.

Tips: At least you'd know two people that are doing well in any of the registered companies in Nigeria.

Use their name and fill in their company addresses.

For contact: Use their officio e-mail addresses. (Not Gmail, yahoomail e.t.c) I'm not saying referees can't use free email service but I'd like to believe that officio email goes a long way in boosting that your app.

V.Os are trained/paid to pay attention to details. Take your time to fill DS-160. It is very important.

Like I wrote earlier... It is just a guess work, I know nothing before una attack me. My 2 cents.

I'd like to still show appreciation to Bigfrancis and Juntod tho... I met these guys here and mehn, they've been really great. They've been like my compass since I entered this country. Awesome dudes to date.
Although I am a newbie in US visa processing but I sensed words of wisdom in what you wrote.
And its best to fill your form yourself and fill correctly. just call for assistance where need be..
