El-rufia the short man devil. |
My attention has been drawn to claims by the Governor of Kaduna state, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, to the effect that he was persecuted under the administration of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, and was pencilled down for arrest in furtherance of the second term bid of the former President. Nothing could be further from the truth, as the facts will now bare out. Nigerians may recall that Mr. El-Rufai was on a self imposed exile during the administration of the late great President Umar Musa Yar’adua. Mr. El-Rufai only returned to Nigeria on May 5, 2010, the very same day that President Yar’adua died. He returned because he believed that under then President Jonathan, the atmosphere was more conducive for him. This is borne out by a wikileaks cable, in which Mr. El-Rufai admitted that former President Jonathan is “clean and honest”. After this diplomatic cable was published by local and international media on October 8, 2011, Mr. El-Rufai admitted that he indeed made those comments. Exactly six days after his return, Mr. El-Rufai visited then President Jonathan at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, on Tuesday May 11, 2010, and then held a press conference outside the then President’s office, where he made unsolicited comments asking Dr. Jonathan to contest the 2011 elections and said that he would support him. After the then President named Mr. Namadi Sambo as his Vice President, two days later on May 13, 2010, Mr. El-Rufai became very bitter and made plans to leave the Peoples Democratic Party and began to undermine the Jonathan administration. In keeping with the Jonathan Doctrine, wherein Dr. Jonathan said “I have no enemies to fight, because of my confidence that people can only do to me what God permits”, the then President refused to move against Mr. El-Rufai. Security reports received by the then President indicated that Mr. El-Rufai was engaged in provocative activities in order to instigate his own arrest, because he felt it would boost his popularity. As such, he made several false and provocative comments, that were injurious to Nigeria’s peace, unity and progress, as well as to our good relations with neighbouring nations, including: That then President Jonathan founded and funded Boko Haram to the tune of N50 billion to give Islam a bad name, which Mr. El-Rufai made on September 8, 2014. That then President Jonathan had gone to the Republic of Chad to plan Boko Haram attacks with the late President Deby, which he made on November 25, 2014. And That he (El-Rufai), along with General Buhari, and several other prominent Nigerians, were on a hit list of people to be shot and killed by the Jonathan administration, which he made on January 5, 2014. Though these spurious and defamatory statements could have led to his arrest and prosecution, former President Jonathan took a statesmanly position to ignore them, in order not to heighten the political tension in the country. Malam Nasir El-Rufai worked closely with then President Olusegun Obasanjo, who has described him in his book, My Watch Volume 2, as follows: “Nasir’s penchant for reputation savaging is almost pathological. Why does he do it? I recognised his weaknesses; the worst being his inability to be loyal to anybody or any issue consistently for long, but only to Nasir el-Rufai. He barefacedly lied which he did to me against his colleagues and so-called friends. I have heard of how he ruthlessly savaged the reputation of his uncle, a man who was like, in the African setting, his foster father. I shuddered when I heard the story of what he did to his half-brother in the Air Force who is senior to him in age.” Malam El-Rufai was also exposed as a pathological liar in page 272 of ‘Power, Politics and Death: A Front-row Account of Nigeria Under the Late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua’, written by former ThisDay editor and spokesman to President Yar’adua, Mr Segun Adeniyi. Finally, Mr. El-Rufai has been described as ‘a liar’ and fetish person by his former political patron, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who he credits with bringing him into the Obasanjo administration. With such testimonials about his character from people with initiate knowledge of his personality, Nigerians should not be surprised about Mr. El-Rufai’s most recent assertions. Instead, we urge the nation to pray for peace, progress and stability. Source: www.thecable.ng |

Pidginreporter. When the government fails, the nation suffers instability from the echoes of the masses. Democracy has made people the pillar of every nation. What Nigeria is experiencing today is a result of leadership failure from the government, amounting to years of public neglect, economic and political mismanagement. To some, referendum is the only way out of the distress in Nigeria, to others, it is not. However, the fact remains that the preponderance tribes in Nigeria are dead bent on having their separate nations. The agitation to divide the nation will continue as long as the federal government insists on ruling the people with an imbalance policy. The Oduduwa agitation, now led by Sunday Igboho, is just getting started. The Igbos who once fought with the Nigerian Army in other to have an independent nation that would comprise of all the Indigenous People of Biafran land are yet to give up on the fight which they lost years ago. With the heat of the moment, Nigeria in her depleting state can't even predict what the future holds. Following the declaration of Oduduwa Nation by Sunday Igboho, both the currency, flag, and passports of the alleged Yoruba Nation have been surfacing online, the most recent one being the release of the Oduduwa map. Lagos, Benin, and Warri among other cities were listed on the Oduduwa map. People were delighted to see the 17 cities that would make up the alleged Oduduwa nation, however, something was discovered in the map which sparked reactions. It was observed that both the Biafran and Oduduwa map contained Warri as one of their provinces. Recall that the Biafran map was released a few weeks ago. It has 25 cities in it and Warri is one of them. Now, after the Oduduwa agitators released theirs and it also listed Warri among its province, people were confused over this. Some people said that Warri is supposed to be in the Oduduwa nation due to its location, while others argued that Warri belongs to the Biafra land. It's important to note that Biafra and Oduduwa are separate nations, however, having the same city on their map might cause problems. Iron Mike Tyson |
Boxing legends Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr battled out an entertaining draw in their comeback fight in Los Angeles before the former undisputed heavyweight champion 'Iron Mike' said he would 'absolutely fight again'. The former superstars both showed flashes of their old brilliance in a competitive exhibition fight with the remote judges failing to split them after the full eight rounds. Tyson insisted he would be open to fighting again at the age of 54 but Jones Jr appeared more reluctant when asked if he would step back in the ring. Former heavyweight champion Tyson said: 'I'm just happy I got this under my belt and I'm going to continue to do more. Absolutely I would do this again. I'm just happy I could go eight rounds. Knockouts mean nothing, you have to be able to go the distance. 'I wouldn't fight professionally. I'm about this now, about being a humanitarian and helping people. I'm happy with the draw, I felt I won but I'm happy with the draw and that we entertained people.' Jones Jr added: 'It's hard to say if I would do it again. I took some hard punches from Mike. I was tiring towards the end because of the body shots. We know as boxers that's what slows someone down. 'I need to talk to my family, see what they think. Thank you to everybody who sent us out the right way. If everything goes the right way and my family say it's alright, who knows.' Tyson came firing out of the blocks in the first round, throwing hooks to the body and head with the intention of doing damage. The slicker Jones Jr utilised his superior footspeed to evade much of Tyson's attacks though did take a solid right hand which momentarily unbalanced him. Jones Jr stuck to boxing and moving, pawing with a jab and then ducking out of range as Tyson continued to march forward and throw wild hooks. The fight began to get sloppy in the middle rounds as both men visibly started to tire. Jones landed a few decent shots of his own as he started to let his hands go a bit more in the latter rounds but it was his defensive work which at times was reminiscent of the old Jones. Tyson showed huge will as he ploughed forward, throwing combinations to the head and body but struggled with the range and speed of Jones. He landed the punch of the fight in the sixth round though when he slipped a jab and countered with a lovely-timed left. Jones took it well and done a good job of tying Tyson up for the last couple of rounds. When the final bell sounded it was relief from both men who showed great respect to each other by embracing at the end. Roy Jones Jr: 'It's hard. I took some hard punches from Mike. I need to talk to my family, see what they think. Thank you to everybody who sent us out the right way. If everything goes the right way and my family say it's alright, who knows.' Tyson: 'Well I'm used to doing it for three minutes. I'm just happy I got this under my belt and I'm going to continue to do more. Absolutely I would do this again. I'm just happy I could go eight rounds. Knockouts mean nothing, you have to be able to go the distance.'. Source: www.dailymail.co.uk [s][/s]
