You will enjoy it. How many HP did you buy?

I bought the 1HP one, my inverter is, 3Kw so nothing else makes sense, (shame though incremental cost isn't that much),
I've started saving up for solar panels, with the way these pipelines are being blown it's best not to rely wholly on utility supply.
BTW, I hope you don't mind my asking, are you an engineer?

The 1Hp used to be 82k now it's around 110k. It's best you snap it up before it rises further. If you go to LG outlets and it's too expensive try the market retailers as their overhead is much lower hence they tend to be cheaper.

quick update, I ended up buying the AC from LG, tried three different websites I saw with prices all lower than the LG(Fouani) price, the ones that had the AC said the prices on their websites were wrong. Luckily for me I opted to call and confirm instead of paying online, my hard earned money for don enter one chance, planning to have it installed this weekend.

8KW System
Runs 2 LG Inverter AC's, 2 Standing Fridge, 2 Deep Freezers plus everything else
32 Batteries (12v 200Ah)
52 panels (300W each)
Totally off grid, I don't use generator or Grid.
Cost about 8.2M

But that was then o before this dollar crisis. Should cost a whole lot more by now.

Hey Chairman...could you give me a bit more info about the LG inverter ACs? thinking of getting one, are they that more efficient? how's the cooling compared to normal split units? did you buy from LG directly? did you have any problems after installation? who installed yours for you? what size is yours?

No vex say I dey ask plenty questions.

Since mobile phone data is very expensive, how do you do the following:

1. Surf the web for your favorite websites?
2. Watch videos on YouTube?
3. Watch Netflix?
4. Watch iRokoTV?

If you use Wi-Fi, where do you get your Wi-Fi from and how do you use it on-the-go? Or are people just stuck at internet cafes all day?

Thanks for your help!
Boss, these questions are suspicious, what are you planning?

I had similar in mind when search for an inverter. I wanted something capable of intelligent charge without draining my pocket. In the end I settled for the su-kam falcon+ which is capable of different state of charge (They called it fuzzy charging) it also came with a temperature sensor for ATC (automatic tempreture compensation)

I got it for 33k (1050VA) For your use case you might want to look at their Fusion series which should have the capacity you seek.
thanks man...will check. Been a while BTW, how's things?
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by netotse(m): 7:29pm On Jan 27, 2016
My Chairmen...maximum hailings,

I need a bit of advice, I am thinking of getting an inverter in the next couple of weeks, something in the range of 3-4KW, solar panels might come later.

I'm worried about the inability of most of the chargers in the market to charge the batteries properly(float charge vs bulk charge),
apart from the high end inverters, is there any other solution anyone can recommend?

Does it make sense to connect a charge controller (without the solar panels) just to make sure the inverter batteries are charged properly?
I will want to get at least 400AH of power and it would be a waste if the inverter can't charge the batteries properly.

Well 2016, for me, i intend to kick start a 100-hectare cocoa plantation project I've been nurturing since 2013. Estimated period of harvesting is 18months. With 100 hectares hybrid cocoa plantation, we would churn out an average of 250 metric tons of dried cocoa beans per annum (exportable quantity) @ current rate of $3,325/ton. The demand for chocolate is ever increasing and with the diminishing number of coca farmers we do not anticipate the price reducing unlike that of crude oil. The plantation will be the single largest cocoa farm in Nigeria. It will also ramp up Nigeria output marginally in the global market, create over 100 job opportunities and increase our FX earnings.

I was raised by a cocoa farmer in Ondo State. So nothing is new. We have approached the state government and processes are underway for land allocation. Our feasibility study is being studied by Bank of Agriculture for financial assistance as we project a capital outlay of N100m. We are also discussing with Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN) for free seedlings and fertilizers. We are equally discussing with Nestle and a merchant (buyer) in Switzerland.

You should make sure you insure your crops are insured, http://www.naic.gov.ng/home since you aren't a new comer I guess there's no need to tell you to choose your pesticides wisely so you don't enter one chance.

Hi what's the update?
Investment / Re: Investor Prospects 2016 by netotse(m): 6:48am On Jan 01, 2016
YoungExec:

It's not so capital intensive depending on which area of processing you go into. For example we all know the rice value chain and how capital intensive it is to process paddy to polished rice.
I'm looking more into 'packaging' not 'processing'.

local farmers have no clue about the laid down pre-shipment standards of foreign countries with regard to African Argo export. Recently I read that Europe banned Nigerian beans due to high chemical residue content of the beans due to the kind of pesticides used in the beans production in Nigeria.

Using another analogy, for instance, in Abu Dhabi, passengers flying to the U.S. go through US immigration right there in Abu Dhabi so when they arrive US, they do so as domestic travelers i.e without further checks.

Hence I am looking at pre-shipment packaging and standardization of Argo produce. Unlike processing activities which rightly may be capital intensive, packaging costs far less as you are working more or less with the raw produce.

You should look check these guys out http://pip.coleacp.org/en, they are trying to do some work in that space, they've held a couple of trainings in naija

RedCapChief:

Agriculture is a definite winner and, yes, processing is more lucrative but capital intensive. The market for properly processed cassava or palm oil is huge. That will probably be my focus in the long term.
The k-leg in entertainment is for the artistes trying to break in. From the business point, I don't think the risk is that great. It just requires time and concentration in any area you choose. Even the small record labels seem to be breaking even. Entertainers are always looking for people to package them. It is rarely about talent but presentation

I'm with you on the processing cassava bit, visited a few farms last year, I'm starting small though. I'm considering a tolling arrangement so I don't have to face the larger part of the market risks.

You also have a point on the entertainers looking for people to package them, a friend ran a record label(with a partner) for a couple of years, they had one artiste that was on the rise, what killed it was when the NBC (broadcast commission) banned their newly shot video, they had spent a lot on it and things became tense with the artiste, I have neither the temperament or money to deal with all these showbiz people.

I would never get involved in Agro at the production level. Too much room for losses. there is a huge Nigerian / African Diaspora in Western countries and I hear ABX and Arik have partnered to export NG Agro to Europe. Also NEXIM bank is looking like they have woken up to finance Nigerian exporters.
2.
Regarding entertainment, I still have question marks due to the volatility of the industry. But you can't ignore the forex potential in it o. Especially when you target the African diaspora in the west.
3.
A friend is trying to convince me to go into consumer finance. He argues that the fed govt will never default on paying salaries (not so confident about pensions). So fed workers often take loans from banks at 24 - 28%. He funds the workers co-op @15% for onward lending to staff members at 18%. According to him, the co-op earns 3% while guaranteeing against default. The staff get the loans cheaper than bank (without the long process) and he relaxes and he gets 15% ROI. He has caught my attention but I'm still assessing potential risks.
I will take points 1 and 2 together, the forex potential for Agric is far higher than showbiz, I know guys that currently export products and they're doing good. I'm not clear on how you would harness the folks in diaspora to earn forex from entertainment (it's possibly cos my thinking is too rigid to consider entertainment as an investment tongue).

On the consumer financing bit(this is way above my weight though), from what I know about cooperatives (not involved in them), very few of them are run properly, I wouldn't feel comfortable having my money guaranteed by a coop especially in these days of vanishing gratuities. You also want to be careful about businesses linked to govt, they can haunt you from all sorts of angles if things go south.

@Redcapchief and @youngexec
meeennnnn...the koko of the matter is that you need to be creating value in 2016.

On the 9th Of October 2015, I did a Pos Transaction of 33,000 at Etisalat Customer Care with my Firstbank Mastercard And it got declined, We retried again and same thing. Only for me to get two alerts debiting me of a total of 66,000. It was a Friday so i had to run to Firstbank to Complain, And ever since then my Money still has not been returned. Even after numerous calls and emails it still hasn't been returned, and the worse of it all is that they haven't been able to provide a very tangible answer as to what happened to my money.

So my people what do you guys recommend i do.
I can provide screenshot and emails proofing that indeed the money has not been returned.
I have nothing but negative things to say about Firstbank.
They really should be called last Bank.

CC lalasticlala
The money wasn't really taken, your bank thinks a merchant might make/have a claim to the money and so they have ring-fenced it, check your account details via online banking or at an ATM, you're likely to notice two sets of account balances(ledger and effective/available) with the difference between the two being the sum in dispute.

The money will be in your account but will be part of your ledger balance (there's a lien on it so it can't be part of your available balance), normally what happens is if the merchant doesn't claim it in 30 days it should be returned to your effective/available balance. Similar issues when occurring with ATM withdrawals don't take so long but then *shrugs* if you can get the error slip from the merchant you might be able to get your bank to release the funds quicker.

Same thing happened to me recently that's why I understand a bit of how the system works.

Sit tight and weather the storm. That's what I deduced a while back. Right now, if you can flip large amounts of forex, that's all that will bring in some profit. But otherwise, I haven't found a single investment worth taking...

When you say 'flip large amounts of forex' you're referring to round tripping right?

@OP
Agriculture is a winner but it requires time (you or someone needs to check up on the investment), got my fingers burnt this year cos I couldn't keep visiting the farm, planning to try processing instead of producing in 2016(one a small scale though)

This entertainment that you're saying has k-leg if you ask me, it's too much of an art to be predicted.

I have a question. ..

Considering the Nigerian setting, what is the best way to handle a verbally abusive boss?

a friend who usually got insulted by his boss was asked to 'leave work' the other day when he told the man to not insult him. According to him, the boss was cursing him so much he had to speak up.
Body language... It's that simple.

You teach people how to address you or react to you.

What most likely happened was that your friend noticed that the boss treated everyone the same way and got away with it and subconsciously "bent a knee"...until he couldn't take it anymore.

All na posturing, you need to send the signal from the get go that you wouldn't let anyone treat you just the way they like. It might mean you do some weird things (years back I used to stop greeting my N + 1 two weeks before annual appraisal cheesy tongue) but you need to decide the message you want to pass and make sure you pass it effectively.

If it has already happened and you want to correct it then you need to work on your bosses subconscious and when he acts up (like cursing you out) don't react in public, show him respect so he doesn't feel it's necessary to dominate/humiliate you in public. You let him know in private and if he's not a lunatic he will appreciate it. If he is then you need to create a deterent.

Respect is very different from fear.

@All
As per the three options thing, making the thread invitation-only for females isn't ideal, I'm of the opinion it would be better if we simply ignored trolls (male or female), having an invite-only thread could deprive the thread of some valuable contributions.

It is supposed to refute the poor line of argumentation on this thread by people who claim that bad girls don't get married and that men are not seriously interested in them. I know that the reality is different. Being "good" is no guarantee that you will get a good spouse and being "bad" is no guarantee that you will not.

Based on what you said your examples are appropriate for your purpose but then, within the context of this thread your examples are not valid, this thread is wayyyyyy beyond that.

I bow for you bros, who said airtime was a problem? (but if you wan dash me airtime I go take o grin )

The main issue is the inconvenience of having to call you to find out the price of the items especially since I've looked at tons of similar stuff online and they had prices.

Your not putting the price there presupposes that I would be that much interested in your work to invest the time and emotions(and of course airtime grin tongue) into calling you when I'm not sure how affordable you are.

Nice pictures, why cant you put the price here? I visited your website and the prices aren't there either, why do I need to call you to find out the prices?

By doing that you're putting one more obstacle in the way of our doing business. If you put the price then I can determine if you're within my range and call. When you don't put the price on your website you come across as one of the people that are trying to draw me in and possibly waste my time no offence.
