If a state governor dies in office, the deputy governor takes over their duties. Who then becomes the deputy governor? What is the constitutional process for filling the deputy governor position in this situation?

Once the governor dies his deputy becomes the automatic acting gov until he's swear-in to take over as governor.

The role of deputy becomes a lacuna which the governor can sort by picking his own deputy or without one because since a new election can't be run prior to his confirmation as acting gov then the position of deputy will remain vacant and when something happens to him, the speaker of the house will replace him by law.
