Siga: .....@surecan....U talk well...abit about my life when in Naija....when I was in College for naija...I be bad a$$ confra guy...no go mention which one.....yes...I put it there....I was fortunate to be brilliant and I got a scholarship to come study for Canada....I am a christian but not that religious as I am more of a realist and believe in given back....alot of dem so called born-again christians worse pass Atheist....people are people regardless of religion....I have primed myself in giving back and counting my blessings....I serve my heavenly Father the way I believe to and try my best to follow his teachings and instructions....but...I don gentle after marriage and kids....my kids no easy at all...dem dey occupy me no be small...lol ....but SURECAN....I am not a ceremonial head of my family...I am incharge aight.... people wey sabi me for Naija and Canada know....SIGA aint easy ....I am just addicted to success and love to be part of any success story...

geotherm: @earthgreen, I have never been under this kind of academic pressure before, it is a highly demanding environment full of competition, I don't have choice but to adjust (naija factor). my PhD will offcially commence Jan, 2013 its funded, this means I have to switch schl, becos right now d program I am doing is not funded. The good thing about courses here compared to naija is that it is practical and up to date(current research work, ideas and technology) not archaic. Lecture notes changes every year although methods of teaching remains constant. The negative part is the relative performance part, meaning the percentage of class performance determines the pass and fail for e.g if the average of the class is 70% and you have 60% you fail and most times in our case here the class average is 75-80% meaning there is strong competition with majority of the class always above average. Sometimes sweet sometimes bitter.

You can call these ones good or bad, its up to you: Too many assignments with deadlines (if u fail to meet deadline -5% per day), alot individual and group project, report and presentation, field trips at least 2x per term with follow-up report or is it the lab work that is at least 2x a week with deadlines b4 the nex lab. Well if you are coming here you must be prepared to drop Giration and groooves ( I hav nt seen any, mayb in summer wen I will be wrking to mak mony for winter academic stress), but the hope is that after studies with good grade u have wide range of opportunities to explore. Canada is a very nice place for people who purposely want to succeed. I will end by quoting shakespeare "The heights reached by men were not attained by sudden flight but they, while their companion slept, they toil through the night" therefore hard work backed up by divine grace will get you to that height you want to be. Hard work pays here I don't know about that in Nigeria.

U know why i like OBJ, he says the damn thing as it is. He is the only one from the south that can counter the North, cos the North trust him and have allowed him get ever so close to them. The Igbo man would so love to conquer the North too, but they won't ever let us get close, cos they dont trust us, just as we dont trust them either.

I'm the principal and she's the co-owner. I've been into the business since 2006 when I was in higher institution, but i registered it this year.My mum has been into the biz for more than 25yrs.

MY sponsor is my aunt who raised me from childhood, n she's into the business too on a larger scale.

harrymann: Nice to know that this forum is waxing stronger . For those coming in , this is some advice for u:

1. Come well prepared with thermal wears, it is very cold.
2. Focus on your studies and forget about working on campus during your first semester . It will will give you better time to adjust to the educational system here.
3. Target a GPA of at least 70% , so you can apply for your offcampus work permit after 6 months.

4. Cut your coat according to your pocket so you won't go broke. No one will dash you free money in Canada like in Nigeria .
5. Don't sign up for more than on credit card . The consequence is huge .
6. Stay away from bad friends to avoid deportation.
7. Finally, focus on what brought you here to Canada, every other thing is secondary . You reward for your sacrifice comes after you are done with school.

I wish you all a safe trip to Canada. The most peaceful country in the world.
