Many have been feared injured after a gas station located around Akwa road in Onitsha, Anambra state, exploded, IgbereTV reports.

While another filling station was badly affected by the explosion which occurred on Sunday evening, 12th December 2021, two other filling stations were saved by men of Anambra Fire Service who promptly responded to distress calls.

Eyewitness said the explosion which caused an earth shaking noise occurred around 7:30pm and a mechanic workshop sharing boundaries with the two affected filing stations was also consumed by the fire which ensued. Over 15 vehicles were said to have been burnt.

The number of casualties is still unknown at the time of this filling this report.

Ahead of the 2023 general election, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has appealed to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, not to endorse any political aspirant contesting for any public office during the elections, IgbereTV reports.

The former President made the appeal at an event held at the palace of the Ooni on Saturday, December 11.

Speaking on the 2023 elections, the former president said as a father to all, politicians will approach the monarch for support, but the best he should do is to “pray for such a person and let him go”.

“All the sons and daughters of Yorubaland, no matter where they are or their standpoint, will come to meet you. This is expected because you are the father of all.

Anyone of them who says that he is interested in politics, just pray for him and let them go. Anyone who approaches you and says that he wants to be president or governor, just pray for such a person and let him go.

Abacha’s CSO Saved Me From Being Raped As An Investigative Journalist – Abike Dabiri-Erewa

Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa has narrated how she was almost raped while engaging in investigative journalism, IgbereTV reports.

Speaking after receiving an award at the maiden edition of the National Freedom of Information (FOI) Awards organised by the International Press Centre (IPC) and Media Rights Agenda (MRA), in Abuja, Abike encouraged journalists in Nigeria to brace the odd and undertake investigative journalism.

Sharing her experience while engaging in the practice, the former lawmaker recalled how the timely intervention of Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, the former chief security officer to the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, saved her from being raped after she was arrested and locked up in a military facility in Apapa area of Lagos state.

Dabiri who worked for the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) for 15 years, anchoring the weekly NTA News line programme, said;

“Dare to venture, dare to succeed. I was arrested at a point I was doing investigative journalism, locked up in Apapa in one of the military facilities there. What saved me from being raped was Major Al-Mustapha who happened to come in at that point. So, you cannot afford to be afraid.”

The management of Dowen College, Lagos has released a new statement confirming that five of its students and three house parents are currently in detention over the controversial death of one of its students, 11-year-old Sylvester Oromoni who was allegedly bullied to death by his schoolmates, IgbereTV reports.

In the statement addressed to parents and guardians, the school principal said the school has been working with the authorities and the Oromoni to ensure that justice is served. The principal pointed out that five students and three hostel parents have been taken into custody but that it isn't an admission of guilt or wrongdoing.

The principal also added that following the preliminary investigations, the management hopes that the Ministry of Education will let the school have a timeline for next term.

''Dear Parents/Guardians As we continue to commiserate with the entire Oromoni family, we also extend our condolences to our students, parents, staff and indeed the entire Dowen College family on the demise of our beloved son Slyvester.

We would like to extend our appreciation to all our parents and guardians for their calls, messages, advice and encouragement as we navigate this difficult time together.

We would also like you to know that we are working together with the relevant authorities and the Oromoni family to ensure that justice is seen and served in this matter. We understand and appreciate your anxiety and support. We plan to do all that we can to ensure that the education and future of our dear children is not mortgaged.

Investigations are moving along and we continue to work with all the relevant authorities.

1) So far all five of the children suspected have been remanded in custody as well as the three hostel parents. Please note this is NOT an admission of guilt or wrongdoing but part of their process.

2) The school and members of the Oromoni family have met cordially with the Commissioner of Police to discuss the matter and the way forward.

3) There will be an autopsy in Lagos and the school will have its own pathologist present as well. We pray that following the preliminary investigations the Ministry of Education will let us have a timeline for next term.

4) The Board of Governors of the school is also willing to meet with representatives of our parents for discussions at the appropriate time. In addition, we wish to inform you that the school is revising and strengthening its Health and Safety Policies and procedures.

To curtail any future reoccurrence of similar alleged incident. We will reeducate and reinforce culture and discipline and review our reporting and disciplinary procedures and sanctions for increased safety and accountability. Going forward it will not be business as usual. We solicit for your continued prayers, patience and understanding.

Late Dowen College student, Sylvester’s family and friends gathered to celebrate his 12th posthumous birthday, today 4th December 2021, days after he died from injuries he sustained after allegedly being assaulted by schoolmates, IgbereTV reports.

Late Sylvester would have been 12 years old today.

Joel Osteen, pastor of Lakewood Church, America's largest church has been questioned by police after 'bags and bags' of cash and checks were found in about 500 envelopes in a bathroom wall at the church, IgbereTV reports.

A plumber, known as Justin, who worked at the church called into a Houston radio morning 100.3 The Bull show to tell them about his shocking discovery, which comes barely seven years after about $600,000 in donations were stolen in the church and haven't been recovered.

Justin said he was called in to Lakewood Church, on November 10 to fix a broken toilet.

'There was a loose toilet in the wall, and we removed the tile,' he explained during the call Thursday morning, December 2.

'We went to go remove the toilet, and I moved some insulation away and about 500 envelopes fell out of the wall, and I was like 'Oh wow!''

Houston police say that cash and checks were found in the wall, and that they talked to 'everybody associated with the building' they were able to contact.

In 2014, $600,000 worth of donations were stolen from the church. The amount was a portion of donations made from one weekend of services and it has never been found.

Justin told the radio show that he informed the church's supervisors and had to wait at the church for almost seven hours after his discovery.

'Recently, while repair work was being done at Lakewood Church, an undisclosed amount of cash and checks were found. Lakewood immediately notified the Houston Police Department and is assisting them with their investigation.

'Lakewood has no further comment at this time,' a spokesperson for the church told DailyMail.com.

Lakewood Church welcomes about 52,000 attendees across multiple services per week, and its services are streamed worldwide.

Osteen, 58, the televangelist megachurch pastor, is estimated to be worth $50 million.

Alleged Cybercrime: Trial Of Naira Marley Stalled Over Absence Of Prosecution Witness

The alleged cybercrime trial of popular musician, Azeez Fashola, a.k.a Naira Marley was stalled today Tuesday, November 30, at the Federal High Court in Lagos, following the absence of a witness for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission prosecuting the case, IgbereTV reports.

Augustine Anosike, a forensic analyst, is the second prosecution witness in the case. Mr. Anosike who concluded his evidence-in-chief on October 27, was scheduled for cross-examination on Tuesday.

At today's proceeding, however, the prosecuting counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, told the court that the witness was absent in court on "compassionate grounds”.

The court subsequently adjourned till November 30, 2021, for cross-examination.

Marley is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on an 11-count charge bordering on conspiracy and credit card fraud. He pleaded "not guilty" to the charges when he was arraigned on May 20, 2019.

Girl Gets No Reaction From Boyfriend As She Spends Money On A Surprise Apology (Photos, Video)

A young woman spent her money to organise a surprise apology for her boyfriend, but she barely got any reaction from him, IgbereTV reports.

The woman got what looks like a hotel room decorated, with flowers and confetti on the bed, spelt out to read, "Am sorry."

Her boyfriend's friends were in on it and when they brought the boyfriend into the room, the woman immediately kneels down and begins crying as she apologizes to him.

Suspected Ritualists Kill 11-Year-Old Almajiri In Bauchi, Remove His Brain (Graphic Photos)

Some yet to be identified assailants suspected to be ritualists killed an 11-year-old Almajiri identified as Muhd Yunusa in Bauchi State and made away with his brain, IgbereTV reports.

The incident happened in Dutsen Kofar Wambai area in the Bauchi metropolis on Saturday, November 20.

According to Nigerian Tribune, the assailants had called two Almajiri pupils who were going about begging for alms and lured them into a dark corner pretending that they wanted to give them something.

The men smashed the skull of one of the boys, removed his brain and escaped to unknown destination.

The other boy managed to escape from the assailants and told the residents what had happened.

When the residents got to where the scene of the incident, they discovered the dead body of the pupil and alerted the police.

Spokesperson of the Bauchi State Police Command, SP Muhammad Ahmad Wakil, who confirmed the incident saying that "police received a distress call from a good Samaritan that unknown persons have used a stone and broke the skull of an Almajiri pupil.”

"The two Quranic school pupils are Muhd Yunusa 11 years and Aminu Yusuf 12 years. They were deceived by unknown persons who used a stone to break the skull of Yunus and escaped to an unknown destination.”

Ahmed Wakil also said that immediately police received the call, they went to the scene of the incident where they met Yunus lying in his blood. They took him to the Specialist Hospital Bauchi for autopsy where the medical doctor certified him dead.

He said that the State Commissioner of Police, Sylvester Abiodun Alabi has directed the Divisional Police Officer DPO, A Division, to act with immediate effect and not to leave any stone unturned and bring the perpetrators of this dastardly act to book.

The PPRO advised parents to monitor the movement of their children and not to allow them to answer calls from strangers in the name of giving them something.

The remains of the Pastor Nothmi Odukoya, wife of founder of the Fountain of Life Bible Church, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya will be buried on 30th November 2021, IgbereTV reports.

This is according to an obituary released by her family on 12th November, 2021.

According to the funeral arrangement, a Night of tribute will be held in her honor at the Fountain of Life, Ilupeju, Lagos on Monday, November 29.

Pastor Nomthi died on November 9, 2021 after a two-year battle with cancer.
