"Another Beautiful Soul Lost To Domestic Violence

When Barrister Adaeze Destiny Ikpeama got married to Anthony Elvis Ikpeama in 2014, little did she know that the institution she looked forward to enjoying would cut her life journey short.

Immediately the marriage was sealed, the man Adaeze got married to immediately turned into a beast by turning the Madonna trained lawyer into a punching bag.

Even when relatives from both sides intervened several times by pleading with Anthony to stop beating his wife, if not for anything, she is the mother of his kids ahd his partner, man was obtuse as he continued to beat the poor girl any time he was not in a good mood.

Covid 19 and the subsequent lockdown of staying at home made the domestic violence worse as it now became a daily ritual.

Two days ago, another round of beating started and this time around, it was very intense which eventually ended up taking her life.

That Adaeze was 6 months pregnant was not enough to stop him in his track rather it intensified the beating of the poor girl.

His focus was the tummy as he was punching her 6 months pregnant tummy with righteous anger and all the energy he could muster.

He did not stop till she gave up and went into a coma but that is not the full story.

When Adaeze went to a coma and was rushed to the hospital by her good neighbours who came to her aid, Anthony followed them to the hospital and immediately she was admitted and oxygen was placed on her to resuscitate her, the husband went to her bedside and then removed the oxygen mask.

That was how Adaeze suffered cardiac arrest and died.

A Good Samaritan alerted Madonna trained lawyers based in Lagos of what had befallen one of their own and mentioned that the vile husband is in hiding after killing his wife.

My good man Okekearu Chukwuezugo Kingsley swung into action by rallying our colleagues in Lagos immediately the sad news was relayed to them, to get justice for one of us who was brutally murdered by the husband.

Police AIG in charge of Lagos was informed and Oga AIG was gracious enough to provide policemen that assisted in arresting the alleged murderer.

Happy to announce that Anthony Ikpeama was arrested this morning around 2.00 a.m after he was tracked to his hideout in Ajah Lagos where he was hiding.

Such a sad story and I hope that the husband who killed her will be sentenced to death.

Beautiful Adaeze left behind, two beautiful kids, a boy and a girl who are still young to understand or comprehend what happened to their mother.

EFCC Arrests Female Internet Fraud Suspect

Operatives of the Benin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday March 26, 2021 arrested one Queen Jonathan, for suspected internet fraud in Oghara, Delta State, IgbereTV reports.

24-year-old Jonathan is alleged to be involved in Bitcoin Scam. She presented herself as one Sophia Rodriguez, an expert in Bitcoin, on Instagram, to defraud unsuspecting victims.

Items recovered from her include an Infinix Hot 8 mobile phone.
The suspect has made useful statement and will be arraigned in Court as soon as investigation is completed.

An American citizen, one Kari Ann O’Rourke, has been apprehended by men of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS).

She has been handed over to the Airport Police Command after it was discovered that there is a manhunt for her for allegedly killing a Nigerian in her hotel in Victoria Island where she stayed.

The accused with passport number USA 558565339 was said to have killed one Adebayo Michael Ayomide and was planning to flee the country on February 9, 2021.

Ann arrived in the country with a 24-month multiple visa issued at Atlanta, USA on January 7, 2020 and intended to travel out of the country aboard KLM February 8, 2021 but for the expired COVID-19 result she was not allowed to board and fell into the hands of the already snooping service.

She was later apprehended at the Departure Hall of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport by officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and FAAN Aviation Security (AVSEC) at the Qatar Airline counter before she was brought to the NIS duty room about 12:30 am yesterday morning.

Sources hinted that Ann arrived in upon arrival in Nigeria on January 22, 2021 lodged in a hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos and was on her way out of the country but a police officer in charge of her investigation had trailed her to the airport.

A source said, “Mrs. Ann was brought into the duty room about 12:30am 9th February 2021 by an immigration officer and a FAAN Security officer with information about a murder case.”

The investigation continues.

Nigerian singer, Sanni Wasiu, popularly known as Lil frosh, has been remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre over assault on Okeoghene Iyomaterie his girlfriend, IgbereTV reports.

In October 2020, the singer who was at the time signed under Davido's record label, DMW records, was called out for subjecting his woman, Okeoghene, to physical and verbal assault while they were dating. Okeoghene in a post shared on her Instagram page, said she had been in a relationship with the musician since January 2020 and that anytime they had a disagreement, he would violently attack her, leaving her with serious bodily injuries.

“He consistently slapped me on the face, kicking, pushing me on other sensitive parts. The recent attack happened in September 2020, when he attacked me and rained blow on my head with bruises on my face. I partially lost my sight and had sleepless nights. He repeatedly boasted that since he is a well-known musician he is untouchable."

A suit against Lilfrosh was filed before the Lagos state Magistrate court in Yaba with the help of the International Association Of Women Lawyers, Lagos State branch.

At the hearing on Tuesday, February 9, the Magistrate, Adeola Olatunbosun, adjourned the case till March 9, 2021 and ordered that he be remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional centre.

NAFDAC Shuts Food Manufacturing Company Over Revalidation Of Expired Curry And Thyme Spices

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has shut down a food manufacturing company for allegedly revalidating expired curry and thyme spices, IgbereTV reports.

After getting a tip-off, operatives of the Investigation and Enforcement Directorate of NAFDAC, stormed the main warehouse and factory of Every Rose Limited, manufacturers of SomGeo brand of spices.

The NAFDAC operatives discovered that large quantities of expired curry and thyme spices were stored in the warehouse with packaging materials, labels as well as stamps that were being used to illegally revalidate the already expired products.

Records available in NAFDAC showed that the company registered 16 different products for listing under the brand name SOMGEO, including SOMGEO Ginger Powder, SOMGEO Garlic Powder, SOMGEO Thyme Leaves and SOMGEO Mixed Spices Powder. The registration, however, expired on December 5, 2017.

In a statement signed by the Resident Media Consultant to NAFDAC, Sayo Akintola, on Sunday, Feb 7, the Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, expressed her abhorrence of the act and disclosed that the company would be heavily sanctioned for endangering public health.

Adeyeye said the two locations visited were sealed and placed on hold, adding that the company staff found revalidating the aforementioned products at the factory had been apprehended and taken to NAFDAC Investigation and Enforcement office for further investigation.

The statement added that different products and work tools were found in the factory, while the business owner is at large.

Adeyeye warned that there was no more hiding place for unscrupulous manufacturers and marketers who had turned themselves to merchants of death to making illicit money by sending unsuspecting Nigerian consumers to their early graves through production and sale of falsified and revalidated expired products.

She said the agency would stop at nothing to track down the illicit merchants wherever they are within the country.

"We are ready to eliminate the incidence of falsified products in our markets or bring it down to the minimum to safeguard the health of our people," she said.
