Two suspected cult members have been arrested by the police at separate locations and recovered a stolen Hilux pick-up and a locally-made gun with live ammunition.
The police patrol team attached to the Epe division was said to have arrested one of the suspects, 32-year-old Adekunle Ojo on January 30 while driving the van along Epe-Ijebu-Ode Road.
The team was said to have been alerted to the stealing shortly after the vehicle belonging to a construction company in Epe was stolen from where it was parked.
According to a report, a police report revealed that the suspect had used a ‘master key’ to steal the vehicle in connivance with other accomplices still at large.
It stated, “Realising that the game was up, the suspect tried to escape but was promptly arrested and the vehicle recovered from him. An investigation has revealed that the suspect and cohorts have stolen several other vehicles using the same modus operandi. The investigation also revealed that the arrested suspect is a member of the dreaded Aiye Confraternity gang responsible for terrorising innocent members of the public in Epe and its environs.”
In another development, an alleged member of Aiye Confraternity, Ejiofor Apeh, 27, was reportedly arrested in the Trinity area of the state with a locally-made cut-to-size single-barreled gun and one live cartridge.
He allegedly confessed that his gang was planning an attack on Buccaneer Confraternity, a rival cult group, when he was nabbed on January 28.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, who confirmed the two arrests said the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, had directed that Ojo’s case be transferred to the Special Squad of the command for further investigation.
“Consequent upon his (Apeh’s) arrest, the CP immediately directed that the suspect should be properly investigated with a view to arresting other members of his gang. The two suspects will be charged upon conclusion of investigations.” Ajisebutu added.

Muridia and Yaqub Ganiyu have been living peacefully as a couple for 17 years. They are blessed with four children.
Sadly, the union is on the verge of complete collapse, owing to a startling revelation by Muridia that Yaqub is not the biological father of their 14-year-old daughter.
Yaqub, a commercial motorcyclist who is yet to come to terms with the reality of his wife’s confession, told Vanguard Metro that he fainted twice out of shock when his wife broke the news.
During a visit to his one-room apartment on Matomi Street, Alagbado, a border town between Lagos and Ogun states, the father of four said the issue had affected the teenager in question, emotionally and had also truncated the peaceful atmosphere in his home.
At the moment, the husband and wife are living apart, an action Yaqub is displeased with, as he alleged that he was mandated by So-Safe Corps, a vigilante group, to be giving his wife N5,000 weekly for the upkeep of the children.
The rosy beginning
In this interview with him, he recalled: “I met Muridia 17 years ago when she was an apprentice. I assisted her financially until she mastered the skill. Thereafter, we started dating and living together. I brought her to Lagos, from Otu Village, Oyo State, to set up a business for her.
“ We are blessed with four children, a daughter and three sons – aged 14, 8 and 4 years and three months respectively.
“Initially, things went smoothly in the family while I was working as a truck operator. At a point, I lost that job. I started riding a motorcycle in order to put food on the table.
Things fall apart
“Recently, I noticed that my wife started behaving strangely. I kept calm to allow peace reign until she brought a Tecno-5 Phone home. When I asked where she got it from, she gave a flimsy reason. I also noticed she had been communicating with a man whose identity I did not know. I had to seize the phone.
“About a month ago, she woke me up at midnight and told me that I was not the biological father of our 14-year-old daughter. She said her former boyfriend who lives in Germany is the biological father of the child. You won’t believe that this same man and I were once neighbours before he travelled abroad.
“I fainted out of shock and disbelief, twice. It was neighbours that resuscitated me. What baffled me was that the man she claimed to be the biological father is a relative and an old friend of mine. His father has two wives, one of them is my aunt.
“I later got to know that things were not going smoothly with him. When they enquired to know the cause spiritually, it was revealed that he had a child somewhere and that until he accepts the paternity of the child, there won’t be any solution to his issue.
“Initially, I thought my wife was out of her senses. I contacted her family members to pray for her so that she could get well but I didn’t know she had other plans.
Two weeks ago, she reported the matter with So-Safe Corps at Abule-Iroko, Ogun State. I was arrested and detained by the Corps. Its officials ordered me to pick up my belongings and leave our one-room apartment.
‘’It did not end there, they ordered me to return the phone I seized to her and pay N5,000 weekly, for the family upkeep. I have been homeless since then. The attention of both families have been drawn to the matter but from all indications, Muridia’s family members are in support of her action.
“I have an aged mother and an elder brother who are not medically fit to intervene.
‘’The man my wife claimed is the father of my daughter said I should stay far away from her or face the consequences, boasting that he has the financial muscle to deal with me.
“I used to have three motorcycles but sold them to enable me to fend for my family. The one I am currently using was bought on hire purchase.”
But when Vanguard Metro met Muridia, she clarified that she was already pregnant for another man who she identified as Teslim, when she met her husband.
She said: “When I discovered I was six weeks pregnant, I told Teslim about it but he sent me away and asked me to terminate it.
“Luckily for me, Yaqub walked into my life and slept with me. A few weeks later, I told him I was pregnant for him, he accepted paternity and we pulled resources together to rent an apartment. Teslim and I were in the village while Yaqub was visiting from Lagos.
“I am a hairdresser but our stay together had been hellish as Yaqub has no tangible source of income to fend for the family.
“Several attempts to walk away from the marriage were unsuccessful as he tactically tied me down with pregnancy. This is the fourth rented apartment I have paid for but he always disrupts my chances of staying alone.
“One day, I got a call from Teslim’s friend, who requested to know what happened to the pregnancy of 15 years ago, I did not give him any response.
“I was in church one day when Teslim’s relative sent a Tecno-5 phone to me because mine was faulty. Teslim called me to say he was in Germany but that settling down maritally had been difficult. He told me that upon divination, he was told to go and claim the paternity of the baby he abandoned in order to have a settled life.
“Two weeks ago, Yaqub and I had a quarrel in my shop. Neighbours intervened by contacting the So Safe Corps which effected his arrest.
“My uncle and other members of my family are aware of this matter. There are moves to conduct a DNA test to ascertain the biological father of my daughter, Zainab,” she said.
In a chat with Zainab, she innocently told Vanguard Metro: “My mummy and daddy are fighting because of me. They said something happened when I was young,”
Investigations revealed that the So Safe Corps personnel who handled the matter had opened a communication channel between Teslim and Zainab. The personnel was quoted to have threatened to re-arrest Yaqub and seized his motorcycle which is his only means of income.
When Vanguard Metro contacted the Commander, So -Safe Corps, Soji Gonzalo, on phone, he said he was at an official function in Abeokuta and would be unable to respond to her inquiry.
However, it was learnt that through the effort of a human rights activist, Comrade Adewale Ojo, the National Coordinator, Human Rights Advocacy & Monitoring Group (HURAMG), the So Safe Corps personnel has been summoned to the Corps headquarters in Abeokuta, Ogun State where he is being interrogated.
Efforts to reach the supposed father of the teenager failed as calls and text messages sent to his mobile phone were not attended to.

“On getting to the school, they descended heavily on the teacher, beat and injured him. They also damaged the back screen of a Toyota Corolla with registration number LSD 395 FV belonging to another teacher of the school Jolayemi Sunday.”

A former aide to President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri has yet again given men another advice that would help them grow in life to attain the level of success they desire. Reno who sighted a verse in the book of Ecclesiastes 2:17, advised men not to have too many women because they women would lead them ‘men’ astray thus making them hate their life.
Reno encouraged men to prove their manhood through excess of success and not an excess of carnality. “Prove your manhood through excess of success, not excess of carnality!”, he said.
He wrote:
“Dear men,
What is hard in wooing a woman and having carnal knowledge of her? Nothing. Even animals do it. Goats and dogs are more expert at it than you. You are not the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time). So stop thinking it makes you a man. Prove your manhood through excess of success, not excess of carnality! The next thing you will bring up Solomon. God gave Solomon wisdom and wealth. God did not give Solomon women. Solomon gave himself women. And when he did, they led him astray, to the point where he admitted that “I hated life”-Ecclesiastes 2:17. Too many women led his father astray. Too many women led him astray. And too many women will lead you astray!”

Pastor Faces 5 Years In US Prison For Arranging Fraudulent Marriages For Green Card
Nigerian cleric, Joshua Shonubi is presently undergoing trial in the United States for allegedly presenting false documents to a federal government agency to fraudulently obtain permanent resident status for foreign nationals by arranging marriages for U.S citizens.
Shonubi, who is the pastor of New Life City Church, Maryland is charged with conspiracy to commit marriage fraud, and visa fraud.
The indictment was returned on October 20, 2021 and unsealed upon the defendant’s arrest.
The 50-year-old clergyman is expected to have an initial appearance on Saturday in US District Court in Baltimore before U.S. Magistrate Judge J. Mark Coulson.
The US Attorney for the District of Maryland Erek L. Barron; the Special Agent in Charge, James R. Mancuso, of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Baltimore; and the District Director, Gregory L. Collett, of US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced the indictment.
According to the seven-count indictment, from at least January 2014 through January 2021, Shonubi, pastor of Newlife City Church, Inc. in Hyattsville, Maryland, engaged in a conspiracy to fraudulently obtain immigration benefits for foreign nationals by arranging their marriage to United States citizens who served as their sponsors for permanent residence in the United States.
The indictment alleged that Shonubi received thousands of dollars from foreign nationals in exchange for connecting them with U.S citizen sponsors and facilitating their marriages.
The indictment continued that Shonubi, often utilising his role as pastor of NewLife, directly or through others, recruited and groomed U.S. citizens, including economically disadvantaged citizens, with payments and promises of money in exchange for marrying foreign nationals, then sponsoring the foreign nationals for permanent residence in the United States through USCIS.
Shonubi also allegedly officiated some of the fraudulent marriages or arranged for a civil marriage ceremony to be performed in Virginia. Further, the indictment alleged that Shonubi created and signed at least 38 reference letters on NewLife letterhead in support of foreign nationals’ applications for permanent residence falsely stating; his relation to the parties; the nature of the marriage; his role in providing spiritual guidance or counselling; and his belief as to the romantic nature of the marriage.
On at least 34 occasions, Shonubi also allegedly created false rental leases, listing Jaypro, a corporation he formed in 2015, as the landlord, to provide proof that the foreign national and U.S. citizen were living together, when in fact, they were living separately.
The false documents created by Shonubi and others were allegedly submitted to USCIS as part of the foreign nationals’ applications for permanent residence.
The indictment alleged that Shonubi and his co-conspirators submitted at least 60 application packets to USCIS, each documenting a marriage between a U.S. citizen and a foreign national, for the purpose of obtaining permanent residence for the foreign national.
If convicted, Shonubi faced a maximum sentence of five years in federal prison for conspiracy to commit visa fraud and marriage fraud and a maximum of five years in federal prison for each of six counts of presenting false documents to a federal government agency.
Actual sentences for federal crimes are typically less than the maximum penalties.
A federal district court judge would determine any sentence after taking into account the US. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
