Spare d rod spoil d child, God is or nver unwise carbonmonoxide: Most people(Nigerians) believe that without beating their children, the child will become disobedient, and they regard beating of kids as a way of being giving them good discipline...
Some parents even tell their children's teachers to beat the hell out of them if they do not obey school laws or fail some subjects..
So the topic is do you believe in beating of children (most especially in schools) as a way of discipline or as an act of wickedness??

then u were nt incharge of ur govnment, so nobdy shld blame jona Decapo: Former Lagos State Governor has once again cleared the air over the controversial N78 million spent for the upgrade of the website – www.tundefashola.com Lagos State Government under his watch as Governor in the state, spent the sum of N78 million for the upgrade of the website – www.tundefashola.com.
The former governor, who indirectly addressed the issue after the question, ”Did you really open a Website with 78Million Naira?” was raised by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe at the senate while he, Fashola was undergoing screening as a ministerial nominee at the senate chambers said he doesn’t sign checks or award contracts.
He added, “I don’t fix contract prices, it is an institutional process. The only training I have is that of a lawyer, But in order to execute works on a project we need the input of architect, quantity surveyors, structural engineer and we have consulting ministries; For civil works it is the Ministry of Works, for science it is the Ministry of Science and Technology among others.
Now periodically, they do market surveys with the Ministry of Economic Planning , the Statisticians are there to fix prices from biro to Iron rod to cement it is approved and it becomes the benchmark price of government procurement, nobody can award any other contract over that benchmark.”
The unfortunate things about money is that it often raises suspicions even among brothers. Nobody have alleged that I have corruptly enriched myself, I could not be the master of computers and technology, I need something to do my work. or award contracts.

* Defends how he governed Ekiti
* Says I never purchased a bed for N50m
Former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, on Tuesday, debunked reports that he ran the economy of his state aground, while he served as governor. Fayemi, one of the 10 ministerial nominees currently being screened by the Senate today, said he governed Ekiti with transparency and accountability.
Responding to a thought-provoking question asked him by Sen. Olusola Adeyeye (APC Osun Central) to clarify newspaper reports that he left Ekiti in debt, that he spent too much money on the Ekiti Govt House, Fayemi said they were all rumours, stating that the government house was built with just N2.5 billion.
The ex-governor said being one of the youngest states in Nigeria, without a government house for 19 years, the magnificent Government House he saw in Akwa Ibom, when he visited former Governor Godswill Akpabio, enticed him to embark on the project to give Ekiti State, a befitting Government House.
Fayemi added that the controversial N50 million bed in the government house wasn’t purchased at that price.
According to him, none of the beds in the government house cost above N1.5 million. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/10/what-i-saw-in-akwa-ibom-made-me-built-n2-5bn-govt-house-in-ekiti-fayemi/

U r a politician nt a citizen of naija,go n sleep ziccoit: Amaechi nomination as a minister, and many others as contained in the list, serves a big blow to the opposition PDP and a plus to the ruling party APC. In emerging democracy like ours, political value of an individual holding an office is as important as his ability to deliver on his campaign promises.
Let's use Amaechi as a case study. Having a dogged fighter like Amaechi as a minister from river state is like having two governors in that state. He is definitely going to ensure the continuity of APC in the state by sort of clipping the wings of Wike if he eventually survives the tribunal case. Wike and PDP know what they are going to contend with in Amaechi. They would have preferred a pure technocrat who will not add any political value to APC.
GEJ administration started failing by the ways the so called technocrats such as Okonjo handled some issues. Close to last election, there were several times Okonjo raised alarms about the deplorable state of Nigeria economy giving people sense of hopelessness under GEJ if he was to continue in government. Okonjo would have handled the situation differently if she was happened to be political technocrat.
I strongly believed the 21 men nominated were not the original list of PMB. Never! He was probably enlightened on how performance alone would not ensure continuity of APC government at the center without adding political value.
Example, Falana vs Fayemi from EKITI state. Falana is expected to deliver more but with zero political value while Fayemi is going to perform and add great political value to his state and party.
So, politics in about calculation not bread and butter as many people think here. |

Full ur sef Built2last: PMB is not out of order. It is called Lobbying in politics. Obama had to personally call almost all the congress men for Obamacare to sail through. Obama also lobbied the congress especially those in opposition for the bail out package after the recession to sail through. It is a norm in politics for the president to approach his opponents where he senses great opposition to his plans.
Dear Nairalanders, our democracy is growing by this act of Buhari. Checks and balances will be more rigid and no leader will take us for a ride. Indeed, i will prefer that any minister with proven acts of corruption should not scale through so that my generation who have plans for politics will watch their way ahead and shun corruption. Consequently, Nigeria will be better for it.
Finally, you are politically incorrect and outstandingly naive if you want PDP to die completely. That is not politics. Democracy thrives in opposition. Checks and balances which bring the needed change lies with the opposition because each party knows they will have to present their scorecard after four years. If you ask me, we need PDP to check the excesses of the ruling party, after all PMB was in the opposition for 16 years. So the wailing of PDP members is good.
One party system will keep us on a spot. How i wished PDP shared national assembly 50-50. Political lovers and observers would have had a swell time in the next four years. However, the current number means the take a bow and go will not work. All the ministers that took a bow in the past and went never delivered.
Guys democracy is hear...lets make it work and argue constructively not destructively.
Built2last said so. |
