Goverrnor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State says the state’s 200-bed Central Hospital is more beautiful and will be better equipped than many hospitals in Europe and Asia.

Speaking during an inspection of the hospital yesterday, the Governor assured that the 200-bed Central Hospital which has attained 98% completion will be adequately maintained to ensure its durability and effective service delivery to the people.

According to Oshiomhole, “when I said at the beginning that our intention is to build what I called a five-star hospital, most people tried to imagine what that meant, but I am sure just looking at the building, I don’t know of any hotel in Nigeria, in terms of aesthetics, that has a better appeal than this. And this is the sort of thing you find in Europe, and some other advanced economies. If you are in the 21st Century, begin to think as if you are in the 22nd Century because the world has changed and it will keep changing. The pace of change will keep accelerating.”

“The whole idea is that when a typical Edo person comes from a village like mine, if he gets in here and realizes that even the environment psychologically impacts on him and he begins to appreciate that he is important, he is in the hands of professional healthcare providers, that way, that forgotten rural man, for once, will have access to modern facilities. You don’t need to board an airline to London, to India, to Europe to be told how hospitals look there. I am sure that those of you who may have for one reason or another travelled, there are many hospitals in Europe and in India that are not as beautiful as this.”

Oshiomhole continued: “And so, I believe that a hundred years from now, this hospital will not look outdated. You will see that as you look at the internal finishing, we took into account the conventional challenges you have with public building, problem of painting and repainting, and with the facials that you have, you will never need to do repainting, all you need is proper cleaning at regular intervals.

The Governor said “the only thing we must now do is to address the critical issue of the human factor. Once the hospital is open, we must re-engage the doctors on the rule of engagement. We won’t invest in this kind of facility, and a doctor comes in to clock in one hour, and goes back to do his private practice, and then collects a cheque for one month at the end of the day.

“I think we provide a hospital that can provide for everyone, both the rich and the poor. There won’t be a difference in treatment for the poor and the rich.

It was tragedy yesterday, my wife's frozen foods and food stuff shop was gutted by fire. The sale girl had just closed and locked up the shop in about 8pm and not long after my wife received a call to bring the shop key, that her shop was on fire. Infact before she could get there, much damage has been done. Thanks to Neigbour around the who forced their way inside by pulling down the burglar, the door and parts of the wall and ceiling, the fire would have spread to the entire building. According to the rescuers, the fire was triggered off when the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company suddenly restored power to the area and suddenly there were series of scary sparkling, with thundering sounds from the power lines on about two of the poles close my wife's shop. We lost almost every thing in shop to the fire; my wife is in trauma and am contemplating on suing the power company for negligence for the surge that triggered off the fire which razed down the shop. Please, I need the advice of legal minds, as well as experience minds to let me know sustainable a legal approach would be.

Since leaving office, former President Goodluck Jonathan has out-staged obasanjo within the international community.

Now all we see of Obasanjo is attending local events were he spews his hypocritical rants about the state of the polity.

The only international event Obasanjo has attended since GEJ left office was as an appointed Nigerian election monitoring envoy - a position made possible by Buhari.

Goodluck is now out shining Obasanjo and he is not finding it funny.

This is why he will in the coming months begin to slander Jonathan just as the likes of oshiomole and falana have been doing with Ngozi Iwella.

Is the same Obasanjo that is an Honorary member of AU general assembly? Is it the same Obasanjo no foreign Head of state comes to Nigeria without meeting with him? Is the same Obasanjo that the Government of Colombia approached to help meet with Buhari on way of collaborating to fight terrorism? I doubt if any mother can beat my mum to her honesty and sincerity. Since I have grown up into man and by the grace of Almighty God, capable of fending for my self, my family, my mum and by extension other immediate family members, my mother has not stopped amazing me. Though, I have placed her on a monthly stipend, just as I am receiving salary here, I deduct my tithe and my mum's stipend is the next thing I set aside, without prejudice to that of my marital home care(my wife and kids), the last time I sent her money was in December, for the end of year/new year celebrations and since then, I have not sent a kobo to her, not because I did not want to, but because of the new year/January financial situation. I got my January pay today, set aside my tithe and decided to call my mum to ask her whose account number I will pay her stipend to, amazingly mum told me that she HAS ENOUGH MONEY with her and that I should not send any money. Interestingly, she said she has been worried how I and my family would be coping now because of the economic situation in the country, particularly for us living in Abuja. I told her not to worry that it is all well with me and my family here, but she insisted that she will not collect it. I have to tell that if she does not collect the money, it suggests that she is angry with me, but she said no, that she thinks about our welfare first. You know what, I have told her that I will send the money, and she can do charity with it if she does not want. My office Assistant has gone to pay the money to her. In fact, am proud of my sweet mother and it is my prayers that all mums and our wives out there become more sincere to you all. Amen.
