Three suspected kidnappers were burnt to death at the Dutse Alhaji area in Abuja on Monday, September 30th.

Eyewitnesses say the men were apprehended after they allegedly pushed their female victim out of a moving vehicle when she began screaming for help.

A motorist who claimed to have witnessed the lady being pushed out of the vehicle, reportedly pulled over in front of the suspected kidnappers' vehicle and blocked it under the Dutse Bridge. Passersby and motorcyclists who also claimed to have witnessed what happened, immediately surrounded the vehicle.

Unable to answer their questions, the mob poured petrol on the suspects inside the vehicle and set them ablaze.

Efforts are currently being made to evacuate the charred remains of the suspects to the mortuary while the female victim was taken to Kubwa General Hospital for treatment.

The Edo State government has suspended Yakubu Musa, the chairman of Etsako West Local Government, over a N46 million-payroll fraud uncovered in the council.

Jimoh Ijegbai, the Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, revealed this in a statement issued on Tuesday.

He said the government took the decision in the interest of the people of the council.

“At the Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) meeting held on May 28, Governor Godwin Obaseki frowned at the very high wage bill of the council which amounted to N66,652,527.52 million monthly, whereas Oredo Local Government with far more staff strength was paying N59,859,964.29 million to its staff monthly," Ijegbai said.

He said the governor directed the ministry to carry out staff audit in the local government.

According to him, at the end of the verification exercise, 63 staff of the council did not show up for the exercise thereby saving over N6,035,656.29)for the local government.

The commissioner added: “It was discovered that the authority of the council entrusted the council’s payroll to a grade level three officer who inserted two fictitious names on the payroll through whom the local government was defrauded of N46 million from July 2018 to May 2019. The case is currently being investigated by security agencies.”

Recall that another Council loyal to Adams Oshiomole, the APC National Chairman and former Governor of the state was recently suspended over issues bordering on alleged corrupt practices.

He's probably right. The auxiliary has its own grade of oil (e.g 75w90) but should never be mixed with grease as this will just speed up killing the internal parts.... They add the grease so as to silence the noises but from the look of it, some parts have really worn.

The 4WD is more costlier.

When getting the next differential, pls do not agree to the differential fluid to be mixed as he did. Get the right fluid and use directly. Mixing it, affects miscibility, and its viscosity.

When at it, you could check out the driveshaft hoses, for ruptures, and all that. Relubricate if needed.

Confusion everywhere

A POLICE Inspector attached to the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) was killed on Monday night while four others were injured when their vehicle had a lone accident on Wukari Road in Ibi, Taraba State.

It was gathered that the operatives, who rode in a white Toyota Hiace bus with registration number (Abuja) BP222RSH, had gone to Ibi to arrest more suspects alleged to have ties with suspected kidnap kingpin Alhaji Hamisu Bala (aka Wadume).

The eight-man team, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) James Bawa, it was gathered, had arrested the suspects and were on their way to Wukari when they had the accident.

It was learnt that one of the back tyres of the bus suddenly burst, causing a somersault.

While the Inspector, identified simply as Clement, died on the spot, The Nation learnt that four other policemen and the five suspects sustained serious injuries.

It was also learnt that the injured were evacuated to a general hospital in the area.

Contacted, Force Headquarters spokesman Frank Mba, a Deputy Commissioner (DCP), confirmed the accident but said he had not got the details on it.

Dr. Pius Egberanmwen Odubu, on Tuesday, emerged the Chairman of the 16-man Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) board reconstituted by President Muhammadu Buhari, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV reports that the NDDC is a federal government agency established in the year 2000 by former President Olusegun Obasanjo with the sole mandate of developing the oil-rich Niger Delta region of Nigeria.

Among the functions of the NDDC includes the formulation of policies and guidelines for the development of the Niger Delta area; conception, planning and implementation in accordance with the set rules and regulations of projects and programs for sustainable development of the region.

The above, Igbere TV gathered, would be in the field of transportation including roads, jetties and waterways; health, employment, industrialization, agriculture and fisheries, housing and urban development, water supply, electricity and telecommunications; surveying the Niger Delta in order to ascertain measures necessary to promote its physical and socio-economic development.

According to a statement by Olusegun Adekunle, Permanent Secretary, Office of Secretary to Government of the Federation, the interim management headed by Prof. Nelson Brambaifa was directed to hand-over to the most senior Director in the Commission.

The statement said, “The Chairman and members of the newly composed Governing Board are by this release invited to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation on Monday, 2nd September, 2019 at 2.00 p.m for proper documentation and briefing. They are to come along with their updated CVs and valid identification.”
