As a Niger Deltan, I am expected to strongly oppose the decision. The school brings in federal presence to the region, jobs and monthly federal allocation. Other regions will oppose this move if the school were to be in their region.

As a patriotic Nigerian, the school is another avenue to share money. Everything about it right from acquisation to employing to admitting is/will be fraudulent. The school will end up being like one of those our numerous institutions that hands out certificates without education.

Nigeria has no business opening new schools at the moment. This because we currently have too many sub-standard schools and funds are slim. Expand and upgrade existing schools. We will be better of that way.

Unfortunately, fantastic write-ups like this alone can't repair our damaged mentality on marriage/relationships. The damage is deep and intrinsic. The number of wives our fore-fathers had was strongly dependent on the number of yam barns and other wealth indices they had back then. Ladies generally believe they marry a man and all their needs are taken care of by him. Some of them quote the bible passage which says a man who cannot take care of his family is worse than an infidel but later canvass very hard for gender equality. They see marriage as a means to an end. They marry to get bills paid. These are wrong reasons to marry.

How can this mentality be corrected. The Op and other few men and women who have come to the understanding that marriage is not for convience must continue to speak firmly about it. People should work on themselves and marry not for convenience cause most times those marriages fall apart just as in "THINGS FALL APART".
